I swear, it wasn't ME! Who can we blame?? LOL Ya know, I was actually thinking; What if this is another DDoS attack but instead of being targeted against the Pro-Georgian blogger by Russia, what if this is because of the Afghanistan Elections? Too paranoid?
- Alonis
Nope, not too paranoid at all. The first thing I did was go to their blog to see if it was another DOS attack actually.
- Shayera Tangri
I love that Bret, Paul, and Kevin checked in. They probably are looking at their screens and asking "what do we do now?" how about ship some new features before Facebook overlords take you off to do bigger things?
- Robert Scoble

I feel sorry for all you addicts. My use of it is purely social.
- Bruce Lewis
I do like FF and use it almost every day. Wouldn't it be great if FB either left it alone so we can continue to use it as "professionals," or somehow incorporate it into a more "mature" version of FB that didn't have all the annoying, time-wasting apps, games, etc. I'd much prefer a totally customizable FF "wall."
- Cathryn Hrudicka
I think FFundercats HO!!!!! would have worked but I'm here anyways.

here. anecdote: a friend of mine just signed up for FF this evening. apparently the FriendFeed hype of the last 24 hours pushed him over the top. leaves me wondering whether FF has actually gained users today?it would be a crafty way of marketing the service. I'll wake up tomorrow to discover that there was a problem with the paperwork and the FriendFeed team have had a change of heart.

Count me in even though I was just starting to get hooked. I guess it's time to find a rehab and get all sobered up until the next relapse with some other new addiction. Isn't life grand?

++Jay. I was going to do the same thing yesterday but I didn't want to pay the money.
- David Cook
David -- this was a $9.95 session but you can get them for $7.95 and there are also 25% off coupons if you do online check-in prior to your Delta flight. That's an incentive for folks to use that service and offload kiosk use at the terminals. Very savvy marketing by the folks at GoGo and Delta combined.
- Jay Cuthrell
Yo Scobey! I like Dave Winer's thoughts on user owned tech companies ... been thinking similar things.
- Jason Cronkhite
well, it's 12:12 a.m. and I'm perusing FF from my iPhone via BuddyFeed before turning in. so yeah, I guess I count. "Here!" (raises hand)
- Don Faulkner
from BuddyFeed
I recommend FF to some of my clients, and there are some companies and nonprofits with presences here—not like Twitter, but I'll be curious how that will be affected when FB takes over more. Most have FB fan pages, groups and/or causes, too.

Hi, I'm Bette... I don't know if I'm an addict, but I can't stay away... I keep checking, just to see if something's new... and I cry if I get no responses to a post. Is that addictive behavior? :D
- Bette Cooper
Yup, I have blocked all the impersonators now. You will still see them, but I don't see them and they no longer can comment on any of my items.
- Robert Scoble
@scobleizer As far as I can see you have blocked not only the impersonators (who renamed themselves back the moment they found out you have a problem with this) but most of the folks who chatted there.
- Умом и сообразительностью
@meatreach yes, see next thread. Scobble becomes anti-Russian.
- Never Impersonate You
Maxatma: well, that's just too bad. I speak English. Sorry. People who don't speak English really don't have any business commenting on one of my items, except in rare cases.
- Robert Scoble
Why you, Robert Scoble, don't block users from Spain or Italy? China or arabic countries? Those users that comments on non-English languages?
- Never Impersonate You
@Robert, in fact they do speak English. But they also do make fun of Friendfeed and everything that's going on there. You can block them or take part in this fun. ;)
- Умом и сообразительностью
I prefer FF over twitter and facebook, but all my friends are on twitter and/or facebook. Maybe facebook will get it right this time now that it has acquired FF. If they simplify it a bit more without removing functionality. Then I would spend a bit more time on FB. Lets hope all goes well with the merger. If not I'm jumping ship and going over to Google Wave. oh wait, I'm going to go with Google Wave regardless! ;-)

- Greig
@scobleizer i can speak english and i beg you to remove bann from all russian friendfeeders, because we are all from it-community, working in internet companies and we came with peace, you asked for feedback from friendfeed addicts — we show you how really it is being frf addicts, we change names, we chat, we making things that are not serious. Why so serious? Unlock people, they are not bots, they just playing the game of real addicts and have fun. Common.
- ideali
shaun: I started this post to demonstrate that a lot of us are still here and aren't likely to leave. At least not quickly. So, life goes on after FriendFeed gets acquired by Facebook. Point proved.

- Robert Scoble
@robert yes they (we will) stay here, I think tat the migration process will take time and after reading @Paul Bucheit, I think that what we all are trying to get even if we don't say it explicitly is to preserve a kind of intimacy (beeing a part of the Huge faceBook community) don't mean that FF community will preserve their intimacy, why should a community be a plan one, (let imagine a community as a set of sub-community) that all.
- abdellah
Wow!! So many likes and comments; is it a record Rob?
- Erfun
@scobleizer thank you, for understanding. be cool, guys we just want have fun here a little. Take care.
- ideali
@Robert RE "I have enough noise in my life. I don't need to have more" - isn't it a lot of noise having 26K subscriptions and 46K subscribers on your frf account? I'm kind of surprised - you create a community that large around yourself, yet when you see a new and unusual activity you just block it right away.
- Умом и сообразительностью
@Robert, patience? Who's talking about patience? It's about curiosity, not patience. When something strange and unusual happens around you, you can either try to stop it or try to see what it can develop into. You choose to stop - and it stopped. Well, not stopped - just moved to some other place. And do you really know what it was and what it was about to bring you?
- Умом и сообразительностью

I just mention the 1500 mark since it was such an iconic query to see... that and the 500 Likes club of FF posts. It's pretty exclusive stuff... but it's also sobering to note that the subject matter required to get to these levels isn't always a uniform mix of cares/concerns.

Actually, I lied. I am not a die-hard friendfeed fan. I desperately want to be but have just not been able to get into a good "feeding" rhythm. Maybe I need to add some more friends

I don't need to be addict. I'm just here, everyday, absorbing so many geeky info :D There's no place like FF

I'm still with ya, Robert. Whatever FB paid for FF, it wasn't enough!

New here, but learning. Tips for best use?
- Barbara Langham
@bdlangam From my perspective the #1 tip in this category is: Explore and define "best use" for yourself. Despite potential "finishing" impression of some productive consolidations in this collective-collaborative cognition space, the emergent #cognosphere is still WAY too nascent to assert anything other than initial impressions. March to the beat of your own drum; build your own...

Twitter is Broken and down AGAIN right now! They've had a rough few weeks... Let me hear your thoughts on what you think is going on with twitter right now.. why are they down so much lately????
DoS perhaps still ongoing. Also, Twitter's architecture is pretty weak. It's not the FriendFeed team :)
- phil baumann
I seem to be leaning more and more towards Friendfeed right now with all the issues that Twitter is having. It is going to be hard to beat at FB +FF team....
- Nathan McIntyre
Hate it that their architecture is such that these DoS attacks can continue to cripple. And if it's not that, then what the hell else is it? Meanwhile, maybe everyone left the office early for some type of cigar-smoking, new-baby party? Just sayin. :-P
- dkmashino
Don't know about that but I'm sure more and more people start using FriendFeed.
- Qaitlin
depends on how much longer FF sticks around for...
- Kim
Chris subscribed to ya! Mahalo! David - I DO! I tell them at least once a day to join me here for a more in depth conversation. I even stopped one conversation cold this morning and told him it belonged here not on Twitter.
- Arleen Boyd
Kim - sadly it is a concern. I just see FB messing up FF in the future... and people don't want to keep jumping networks.
- Arleen Boyd
I so agree! Tired of Twitter Twissues!
- Jeff Hurt
FriendFeed is a MUCH better communication arena, but it's just not as "catchy". Very little customization.
- Nick Armstrong
Okay let's go get everybody HERE where we can have real discussions... then we can plan our Long Term strategy for Citizen Journalism! They won't do away with this FF for at least a few months!
- Arleen Boyd
All ideas for saving a FF like community (or if we must plan a mass migration) post HERE!

yeah FF is cool, hope it doesn't change now that FB bought it, hope it gets better...not sure why twitter keeps going down, but FF seems more reliable&works w/twhirl, FB doesn't
- Patty
from twhirl
At least we have each other here... @ least 4 the time being on FF... How're you, Arleen?
- CarolAnnB
Oh Me 2. I feel like I'm to loud for the small room. LOL
- Carol Rambo
...maybe Twitter's just gotten too big to be supported by just one company? imagine if all telecom service was run by just AT&T. Twitter needs legitimate competition, so that it's millions of users (and growing) don't constantly get inconenienced by inevitable systems problems, hacker attacks, etc.
- .LAG liked that
I believe it will be a bi difficult to get everyone over here...Worth a shot though. We ARE going to need to make a change since it seems that Twitter is impotent in running a dependable service.
- Alonis
This has been bugging me today too, Arleen. Of course the last time it wasn't an issue with them so much as it was an outside attack upon their servers.
- Harold Paxton
Patty, CarolAnn, Carol, Lag, Alonis... we have a finite (and unknown) amount of time to DO something. FF has a simple reliable platform that works well for connection and discussion. But, w/ FB it will eventually be integrated and get cumbersome like FB is! So... we need something else ya? What do you really want/need most in a network community? These guys only care about real time search and how much $$$ they get for that.
- Arleen Boyd
Mahalo Arleen, yes I do believe we need a better platform, this is why I do jump in with both feet on some of the app's. I'm always looking. I do have a lot of tech's that I follow as do you. I'm interested, if you find better, you will let us know, right? LOL
- Carol Rambo
FF seems like the best alternative right now to twitter,as long as it doesn't change, not sure what else is out there similar to twitter
- Patty
from twhirl
I hang my head in shame as I bounced over to Twitter the minute it was up... problem is: though I ADORE and value the awesome conversations with you here... there are others I don't want to ignore on Twitter... so split... damn FB for buying FF!
- Arleen Boyd
Okay, I'm kind of feeling like a Yo-Yo with twitter today.
- Harold Paxton
Why Harold! Are you a Twitter Yo-Yo or a Twitter Ho?? *giggle*
- Arleen Boyd
LOL Thanks a lot, Arleen! I think I may be both!! Looks like Twitter is working on the web side of things for me. but the tweetdeck is problematic.
- Harold Paxton
Robert I found with the grouping ability and the discussion threads - there's no need for much in the way of user apps here. It's so simple clean and USABLE! Do use the grouping features both for "friends" and "Groups" and have fun with real discussions you can follow! Harold, TweetDeck doesn't work w/ my follower count. I tweet via the Web!
- Arleen Boyd
Thanks for the advice to, Robert, Arleen. That's helpful for me too!
- Harold Paxton
Do you have any groups you recommend?
- Harold Paxton
Harold, I'm in te Hawaii group of course to see my local Ohana! And with the BlackBerry group cause I have one, and with Backlink free and Audiophile... but those are just my personal interests. I also like tech stuff but am in many on Facebook. I organized my friends here in groups depending on what they talk about most.
- Arleen Boyd
Okay. Thanks, Arleen. I appreciate the info :-)
- Harold Paxton
So Robert is asking people if they're leaving FF. Without a plan guys we got same 'ol same 'ol... so WHAT is important to you??
- Arleen Boyd
Roger that Arleen, signed up 15 minutes ago as "backup." I echo your sentiments exactly.
- Paul Roberts
FF more important to me as aggregator of my other content but as Twitter has issues I'm liking the communication interface I think twitter still be my primary
- WarLord
I am a member but haven't really used this too much. Does it work like Twitter?
- Beverly Monical
Beverly, yes, but with threads and no whales.
- Marco Neves
Yeah, FriendFeed is so much faster in posting, too. I love it. Let's start the next wave in social media! Twitter has jumped the shark. :)
- LisaGemini
This is just ridiculous! I mean, WTF do they do with their money? It doesn't seem like they spend it ON Twitter's service. Pretty office they have at HQ though. LOL
- Alonis
Anyone know how many employees twitter has?
- cheapsuits
from iPhone
I think they may have aprox 50-60 now. Somewhere in that neighborhood.
- Alonis
i really wish I could *heart* FriendFeed. I need to spend some one on one time with it. More so now that they're in bed with Facebook.
- Austin Alvarado
He will be reappointed. Funny how they can call the recession over when they immediately think it's over, but couldn't admit we were IN a recession until we were 12 months deep.
- Alonis
Sasha, have you considered having ppl tweet to @EV, @Biz, @Jack and @Crystal. Tweeting to @Twitter is kinda pointless. How'd you get locked out?
- Alonis
*Hi Alonis,* ** *Last night I was having massive problems with Twitter. While online Tweeting, Twitter kept booting me out. I would try to log back in but it would not take my Password. So I would send a request to reset my password. About the 8th time this happened to me, I thought maybe someone had compromised my account so I went into settings and changed my email account....Then...

- SashaKane
from email
Sasha...@delbius from Twitter says: @zaneology That means that she has an app trying to access Twitter that has the wrong password. If her account was locked, she wouldn't be able to post no matter what. (via FF to twitter) What she needs to do is shut down all apps and make sure they have the right pw. :)
- Zaneology
problogger has a challenge going on. We've been given 31 days of individualized instruction. First day is making 'elevator pitch' on our websites.
- Molly
Seriously, all kinds. I'll look up anything.
- Molly
Here's what I have so far: Tagline: Providing a one stop source and analysis of the best free search programs, platforms and applications. Longer: For a small fee I'll save you time, effort and frustration by researching any topic for you, delivering fast, relevant results when and where you need them. Elevator speech: All of the above plus: Online research has been my passion for over 2 decades. I've channeled that passion into infolode.com where (ends there)
- Molly
so....what's the website about ...make me a pitch right now...why should I go see it?
- guruvan (Rob Nelson)
Got the fast part down pat, I think. It's the longer pitch I'm having problems with.
- Molly
so my thoughts: small fee -I don't really like those two words together. I like ACTION more "Save Time Save Effort, Get Fast Results on Any topic! Answers when and where you need them!
- guruvan (Rob Nelson)
The draw is the free apps, etc... After I get them to my site and coming back for more......
- Molly
The same holds for the last part...there's no action and excitement in it....if it's your passion you need to get me excited about it
- guruvan (Rob Nelson)
Tighten whenever possible. Too many words just glazes the prospects eyes over. So fewer words, to the point, quickly as possible
- Sweetnote
and also? Is this an ad for your website or your research services? It sounds more like the latter?
- guruvan (Rob Nelson)
Also, try to Reword so that your pitch doesn't rely on phrases like One stop source...is there a better way, fresher way to say this that has punch but doesn't sound like an infomercial
- Sweetnote
Sometimes it works to throw your guts on a paper (so to speak) with random thoughts about what you do, these looks at what your job involves can sometimes provide the wording for great creative copy
- Sweetnote
Londie, the idea is an 'elevator pitch' so has to be longer, but not too long. Like your suggestion about throwing words on paper (loving this process, btw)
- Molly
Here's the crux of the matter: Is the site a "blog" with articles about research or is it a "website-ad" to sell your research (the line can be blurred, but only after you know the true purpose)
- guruvan (Rob Nelson)
this is why you're having trouble making the pitch for it...once you become clear on what the site truly is your pitch writes itself
- guruvan (Rob Nelson)
Understand about the making longer, however, Utilize your skills to touch on specifics without using words that fill the space
- Sweetnote
selling research services w/blog attached for reviews of same type
- Molly
Sometimes we can get so passionate and SO close to our subject we can't stand back objectively and see what we need to do. DO check out similar sites.Take note of what does or doesn't work on their site. Utilize your talents to sell yourself immediately through a fresh approach.
- Sweetnote
True purpose: selling research services. Free stuff is draw to get site visits for those who can't or won't pay for someone else to do it for them.
- Molly
Great idea, londie. I've done that in the past, but haven't recently looked up others doing same
- Molly
Give me an example of what your "Free Stuff" would be
- Sweetnote
think about what "elevator pitch really means molly: you have 3 floors to make your point to someone and get them to buy into what ever you're selling.....not much it's more than a tag line, but not really much more...especially when written
- guruvan (Rob Nelson)
Best programs, applications, links and platforms for finding stuff online re: londie
- Molly
Kind of like the 140 letter space on twitter...Gotta pack a punch in few words, otherwise it's gonna look Like I tweeted it or wrote it! LOL!
- Sweetnote
So Molly try to tell me in 1 paragraph, in your own words what your site is about and what its doing for you and what it will do for me
- guruvan (Rob Nelson)
What makes Your Freebies BETTER, more efficient than other sites? Why should someone come to YOU?
- Sweetnote
Rob, then how's my 'tagline' and the next line (with your changes of course)?
- Molly
That's a redundant statement...not a slam or anything by the way
- Sweetnote
So when I'm looking at your site, what has the focus of my attention? Reviews? Service Descriptions? - this is how you're going to base your pitch.
- guruvan (Rob Nelson)
I'm expecting to see reviews the way you're talking about it so the "elevator pitch" is really going to focus on what you're bringing in that regard.....the reviews themselves are what's going to sell the services
- guruvan (Rob Nelson)
Would you think that testimonials would be a good thing to include Rob?
- Sweetnote
Great point, re: focus..... thinking. I agree re: reviews. Yes, londie. I can get them, I'm sure. Haven't talked to anyone I've helped, yet though.
- Molly
Reviews would be the focus of the blog. Services focus of site itself. (sound good?)
- Molly
homepage would be on services w/link to reviews on blogs. Links to each review on homepage for easy access.
- Molly
I have to bug out...let me know how this goes. Nice to talk to you both.
- Sweetnote
I guess my post where I rewrote my tagline got lost somewhere. I don't see it.
- Molly
Providing a one stop source and analysis of the best free search programs, platforms and applications.Save Time Save Effort, Get Fast Results on Any topic! Answers when and where you need them!

- guruvan (Rob Nelson)
an londie: testimonials are not part of the elevator pitch - that's a one-on-one experience.....you can have testimonials on the website, but not in the elevator
- guruvan (Rob Nelson)
the elevator pitch you should be trying to develop first is the pitch to get me in the door to read the reviews.
- guruvan (Rob Nelson)
testimonials would be good to have on the site to sell the services, but aren't going to get me to look at the site
- guruvan (Rob Nelson)
the pitch you're looking for is something to drag me into your world
- guruvan (Rob Nelson)
once I'm there you can give me Pitch #2 and try to sell me your stuff -
- guruvan (Rob Nelson)
Not sure I can help, but I will try. I am running around like crazy still and it is almost 10pm here. :-( Where are you stuck?
- Alonis
Sorry to miss you, Alonis. Just logged out as you logged in. Rob, I think the 'tagline' is supposed to be the original pitch (how's mine doing?) and the 'elevator speech' the 'hook them in'. That's the one I'm having problems with. I've always had trouble closing the sale. Too used to giving it away for free, I think.
- Molly
but what you still haven't actually come out and said is what you're pitching. come Right Out and tell me what you want me to "buy" - even if "buy" means "view the free reviews and links" Sell me on the visit (I'm presuming that since this is something from problogger, you're trying to get me to come read the BLOG. -I'm presuming that you're not trying to learn from him how to sell product on your web site (correct me if I'm wrong here.)
- guruvan (Rob Nelson)
The elevator pitch may even be questions that people may have. For example, "How do you find the most relevant information about your market?" Hopefully it will be the start of a conversation.
- Dorai
true that...the elevator pitch has to be engaging. questions are often the best way to elicit a response. IMO, the questions should be precisely Leading. A question asked in a short pitch should seem like there would be many answers, but the only one we ever get form the potential customer is the one that we lead them to, and the one that leads into the next statement of the pitch.
- guruvan (Rob Nelson)
My mom works for Alameda County. We've gone through this before. However, this time is different. With the mortgage being more than the home is worth AND being in a Pay-Option Arm, no one here can afford to go without pay. We're wishing that she doesn't get affected by these furloughs, but we know the reality of it.
- Alonis
I would just like to expand on this one a lil... I was a baby. It was the 70's. For all y'all youngin's out there; we wore CLOTHE diapers. None of this plastic wonderfulness that you had. My father was a Human Rights activist and was some how familiar w/Brown. Brown was holding me (baby) and then (as my father said) had a confused look on his face while saying "She...peed on me." A pic of that would have been funny as hell to me! *ahh* good times, good times.
- Alonis
