I've made the step. I have stopped feeding my tweets into Friendfeed. I'm going to Tweet mostly from FF too. I have friend lists all nice and set up and I'm ready to crash the party! I've even whipped out the old warpaint pic!
I'm also using all 3, but Syncplicity seems to have some problems with synchronizing folders I shared with people (actually, it just stopped updating them...)
- Alex
Is this used more to transfer files between many people or as a backup?
- Trish R
@Trish You can use dropbox for a backup of files, and you can give other people access to all or some of your files.
- Baard @ Pixum
I use it primarily to sync files between my computers. I've created a folder for my profile photos and they are now available everywhere. For backup I use Mozy.
- Håkan Dahlström
I totally <3 Dropbox... but won't need to use it quite so much now that Scott is HERE! :-)
- Ladybug Heather
I´ve only tried Dropbox of the three. Then there´s the new ZumoDrive announced the other day, haven´t gotten an invite yet though. But else I´ve tried Wuala which is "social file storage" based on p2p tech and pretty cool but I don´t like java clients.
- Thomas Bøhm
I like the idea of syncing your files between computers. Since files are stored locally on each computer you get speed. Remote mounted storage tend to be very slow.
- Håkan Dahlström
I've been using dropbox and keepassx to synchronize account info across multiple computers. Very handy. http://tr.im/axwy
- Timothy B. Taylor
I've only been using Dropbox and it's a killer service. The only problem is it's price. I would also like to see more subscription plans.

Great list, 8 of them are among my favorite movies ("Brazil" being no. 1). I haven't seen the other 2 yet ;)
- Alex
Because Twitter is way more similar to Pownce than FF is! LOL. I'm awaiting Topixz. Actually, even though it's not useable yet, this week's ep of my podcast, Generation Tech, I'll have Topixz as my pick of the week. Gonna start hyping it early on.
- Mattie Kenny
*sniff* you cut me Georgia, you cut me deep... :( I am trying to remember my old pownce stream, and I doubt it would fit into twitter.. but maybe. or maybe all of you are just giving up.... ;-)
- Wolfman-K
still here, just using my main stream more and more. Also on twitter more
- Zach Chisholm
Well, I wouldn't call it dead. In a coma, maybe. But I'm also blaming Twitter (which I absolutely hate, BTW). Also, people are still busy posting stuff on Pownce...
- Alex
I think we'll be posting on Pownce until the last possible moment. Though conversations are growing elsewhere as we get more people on places like http://pownce2.ning.com, Vox, Soup, etc.
- Heidi Cool
Soup's file size is too small. Hopefully someone will just copy the Pownce site and launch it soon. It's sad that Pownce was clearly the best site of its kind but never gained the popularity of the inferior Twitter or FF
- Justin Luey
hanging around....on FFeed, twitter, waiting to see what topixz becomes. soup/vox are not very inclusive. may people on pownce2, but interface not as simple....plus blasted work gets in the way
- clarke thomas
Justin - Wait for topixz.com! Joel is making a "pownce clone" but he'll make it his own and it'll rock.
- Mattie Kenny
When Pownce takes it's celestial nap next week, this should pick up again a bit. I hope people can always visit here for discussion.
- Mike Lewis
FF has promise ... but it seems like everyone is using the ning site, which has a pretty harsh UI, but does seem to work.... I've been using twitter more in the last week than I ever did before and it still frustrates me, but I'm coming around
- Nick Dawson
hey friend, no worries, I am everywhere, expect, I'm still tryin to figure out my Ning site and also the soup.io site, but I am always in here, FF. Since I've to keep up with many social networks, it will take up a week at times to check in at Ning or the networks that are not as popular. The new ones like soup.io I will look after more often. I find soup.io efficient for now, but I do have onsugar site, which I will post in the near future as my microblog. Plz don't be despair, fellow Powncers:)

With Pownce meeting it's end next week, maybe it's time for Pownce the Movie. Sure, it will go straight to DVD, but it will be action packed and very well cast. Playing the role of !mikelewis will be Mel Gibson. Yeah, he's a douche, but he wears face paint well.
I imagine a scene like the two fellow sitting at the table in the movie Diner...except that they're talking via computer instead of directly to each other. Then every once in awhile the POV changes to looking over the shoulder of a different Powncer, and the messages are read as voiceovers.
- Heidi Cool
I've always felt that Brad Pitt was a veritable and virtual clone of myself... so I'm gonna go with that!
- Mark "Godt Nyt Ǻr"
I like Heidi's idea. We could also go with the revolving POV cam like "That 70's Show"... it would have to be a big table, I s'pose.
- Mark "Godt Nyt Ǻr"
Gee Mark, Brad Pitt in SecondLife, Brad Pitt in Pownce...I sense a theme going. Is Brad wearing pants?
- Heidi Cool
I would be played by Marty Feldman. Oh, wait, he's dead... Maybe a CG version of him?
- Alex
Brad Pitt has always had a bit of an "obsession" with me. Poor guy. Someone should've told him to set more realistic and attainable goals. Now look at his life... had to settle for the likes of Jennifer and Angelina. *sigh*
- Mark "Godt Nyt Ǻr"

I hear it's supposed to be a sort of a copy of Pownce. I believe http://pownce.com/mathamoz/ is heading it. It seems really early in development and I haven't heard much in terms of how it's going.
- Herb G.
I signed up. I'm curious to see how it will work out. But also worried it will be hard to scale a one person project if it works and everyone joins. If it ddn't take time and labor we wouldn't be losing Pownce.
- Heidi Cool
I've signed up but I has no authorization code, which I feel prohibits me from the Alpha...le sigh!
- Mattie Kenny
I've signed up too, but as of yet havn't recieved any alpha codes or access. Looks nice so far though.
- Wolfman-K
I've signed up a couple of days ago. No code, of course, so I'm still on the outside :(
- Alex
I don't mind the wait, there r a number of social networks to hang til Topixz is done up
- polou/indigo_bow
I've uploaded a photo, a song and I'm about to upload a document to fidj.it for you to see the functionality at work. It doesn't really have the community of Pownce, but if we all work together toward repurposing it as the new Pownce, we may succeed since it has basically the same functionality. (No friend groups as far as I know, though.) There's private messaging as well.
- Mattie Kenny
I guess the last thing I'd like to mention is that this was a pre-existing service that was out there and it's been designed to scale, but apparently, no one even wants to look at it in this room.
- Mattie Kenny
I just registered there. Still trying to get an overview of how it works.
- Mark "Godt Nyt Ǻr"
It's really like the bastard child of Twitter and Pownce. Unfortunately, the reply scheme is like Twitter's. Though, I'm hoping they change it to threaded (it's still a work in progress, which I enjoy). You can upload anything you'd like and replying is just @matsie or whoever. You have latest from your contacts, replies and then everyone feed.
- Mattie Kenny
Thanks, Mattie. I think I'm understanding it. Now I just have to seek out some familiar faces!
- Mark "Godt Nyt Ǻr"
I'm not sure if anyone from Pownce is even on fidj.it. It's definitely a fledgling service that's struggling for a community. I think if we encourage them to go the way of threaded conversation, we'd be much better off.
- Mattie Kenny
I've got it on my To Do list, but I've not had a chance to give it a good look yet. The lack of threading that you mentioned is one of my huge pet peeves of Twitter, but I'm willing to give it a go.
- Michael Potter
I think if there were an influx of Pownce refugees to fidjit and we all yammered for threaded posts, they'd switch. It may take time, but they'd do it. Fidjit is a fledgling service and from my experience has been very receptive of user suggestions.
- Mattie Kenny
Why check it out if you just plan to use topixz?
- Mattie Kenny
@Georgia: I thought I was the only one having the problem with the "post" button... Anyway, I also encountered some errors while posting... I don't know, let's see what else there is around. Heading to Rejaw now.
- Alex
That's kinda interesting. The Twitter-like reply system is no good, but it's pretty similar to Pownce otherwise. Not sure how much I like the layout, it looks awful plain and boring and there's no way to change it...
- Joel
How is it that plain boringness of fidj.it or topixz is good but of friendfeed hurts your eyes.... <_<
- Wolfman-K
LOL. I was thinking the same thing Wolfman.
- Mattie Kenny
@ Wolfman-K I agree, lol. Fidj.it doesn't hurt my eyes, but something about the default FF makes me all confused.
- Joel
If anyone does sign up on Fidj.it, here's a link to my newly opened account. (I don't know anyone there except Mattie, and really didn't know her 'til today!) http://fidj.it/user/minmax2k
- Mark "Godt Nyt Ǻr"
I'll take a look at this over the weekend. I know that in the long haul, something will rise above the other services...in time.
- Mike Lewis
OK, I'm in. Looks rather nice, actually. I managed to post photos, videos and mp3's, but only from online sources. I can't upload stuff from my computer. I'm not sure yet if that's good or bad ;)
- Alex
