Despite Obama's mediocre performance with number's like this Democrats need not worry AT ALL - sofarsoShawn
The chances of any of those being nominated in the first place are slim to none. With Obama performing this bad in his first year, the GOP shouldn't have to worry much as long as they pick a real conservative candidate. - Spencer
ROTFLMAO! This is the contenders? Well then again its two years before they have to declare. Hopefully a SERIOUS candidate will come forward in this circus. - CW™

As US Ambassador Casts Doubt on Troop Increase in Afghanistan, New Report Reveals US Indirectly Funding the Taliban
In a last-minute dissent ahead of a critical war cabinet meeting on escalating the Afghan war, US Ambassador Karl Eikenberry has cast doubt on a troop escalation until the Afghan government can address corruption and other internal problems. Meanwhile, a report reveals how the US government is financing the very same insurgent forces in Afghanistan that American and NATO soldiers are fighting. Investigative journalist Aram Roston traces how the Pentagon’s civilian contractors in Afghanistan end up paying insurgent groups to protect American supply routes from attack. - Eric Logan from Bookmarklet

This story is insanity. I usually try to stay away from these topics since we all get a steady diet of it on network TV. A story today showing the Taliban ambush of a U.S. outpost filmed by the Taliban piqued my interest. - Eric Logan

CBO Confirms GOP Plan Will Lower Health Care Premiums, Lower Deficit Without Tax Hikes on Families & Small Businesses | Republican Leader John Boehner - http://republicanleader.house.gov/News...
"CBO begins with the baseline estimate that 17 percent of legal, non-elderly residents won't have health-care insurance in 2010. In 2019, after 10 years of the Republican plan, CBO estimates that ...17 percent of legal, non-elderly residents won't have health-care insurance. [http://voices.washingtonpost.com/ezra-kl...] - MikeAmundsen
But wait! I thought republcians didn't have a health care plan. That's what the liberals keep telling me! - Spencer
AFAICT, this plan doesn't result in more people w/ care. i'd call that "not a plan." - MikeAmundsen
Lower health care premiums == more people with insurance. "Care" is a completely different issue: you can't force people to get the care they need any more than you can force them to get their fat arses off the couch and away from the TV. - Craig Eddy
very disappointing, IMO. i expected better; we _need_ better. - MikeAmundsen
Craig: so you dispute the CBO numbers on how many will remain uncovered by 2019? - MikeAmundsen
Did I? I'm of the opinion that it's not the government's place to make sure everyone has health insurance. - Craig Eddy
Craig: I see. so neither approach (HR3200 or HR3962) is really interesting to you, right? - MikeAmundsen
Sorry, I was away for a bit consulting my copy of "The Little Book of The Constitution". I didn't see anything there that authorizes Congress or the federal government to be involved in the health care of the citizens, much less to regulate that a vending machine has to have a sign displaying the nutritional value of the items it vends. So, no. Neither is interesting to me. - Craig Eddy
It is not Constitutional for the government to force or provide health care, especially when it will force other people to pay for it. - Spencer
Craig: i gotcha. nothing to see here, then. moving on. thanks. - MikeAmundsen
@Spencer: i can think of many forced payments imposed by the US gov't. you would say all/any are unconst, right? - MikeAmundsen
