By Yomin Postelnik There is currently a move underway to discredit Mike Huckabee over the rightful pardoning of a then 16 year old who had been sentenced to 108 years on robbery charges. I make this statement as someone who fully supports the death penalty for murderers and for child rapists, but also as someone who recognizes that getting tough on crime means fostering sensible rehabilitation, not turning first time offenders into violent career criminals. Yes, Governor Huckabee pardoned more people than most governors do. That’s because Gov. Huckabee isn’t thoughtless, callous or cruel and recognizes that public service actually entails service to the public. Sentencing a 16 year old to months of hard labor generally serves as the greatest deterrent (except in cases of murder and the like). By contrast, sentencing a teen to years in prison has almost inevitably bred nothing more than a violent menaces to society.

by Timothy Birdnow Does anyone remember Wei Chyung-Wang? He was the professor at State University of New York, Albany who, along with people from the East Anglia Climate Research Unit (CRU) was caught faking data sets to show global warming in China (1). Wang was in good company; James Hansen’s Goddard Institute (GISS) has been subject to several “iffy” incidents, including publishing September data in October in 2008 then proclaiming the warmest October ever, and quietly altering datasets that showed 1998 was NOT the warmest year on record in the United States. We had the National Snow and Ice Data Center “losing” a chunk of ice the size of California, as another example. GISS was able to claim stupidity in these instances as was the NSIDC, and Wang was marginalized as an isolated incident. But then came the grand CRU scandal, in which e-mails hacked from the university computers show a willful, intentional attempt to distort raw data and marginalize the work of scientists that do...

By Yomin Postelnik From the 1950s throughout the 1970s, Arizona was synonymous with conservatism. While this hasn’t been the case for decades since, a new group of leaders, together with a new generation of leadership, is quickly restoring Arizona’s prominence within the conservative movement. First and foremost, the new change is led by Arizona’s new governor, Jan Brewer. Brewer is among the most competent chief executives anywhere in the nation and one who is most in touch with the needs of the electorate. The strong record of fairness and achievement that she garnered as a legislator over her 26 years in public service is surpassed only by her proactive leadership and the original, yet common sense, solutions that she brings to the table on various issues across the board.

When those entrusted with positions of civilian leadership refer to the attack at Fort Hood as the act of an “alleged shooter,” the effect is that we seem callous and naive in the face of terror, which is exactly the wrong message to send to those who wish us harm. Our nation and our military deserve better. They deserve much better. Failure to recognize the attack at Fort Hood as one of terror certainly sends the wrong message. The alleged mass murderer was found to have made statements in support of terror. His attempts to connect with al Qaeda were confirmed through computer forensics. Action, not failure to act – together with help from Above – is the only way to respond with effectiveness.

Timothy Birdnow President Barack Obama is going to allow aliens infected with HIV/AIDS (1) into the country. In 1993 a clause was added to the Immigration and Naturalization Act barring infected individuals from immigrating to the United States. The law states; ‘“Any alien who is determined (in accordance with regulations prescribed by the Secretary of Health and Human Services) to have a communicable disease of public health significance, which shall include infection with the etiologic agent for acquired immune deficiency syndrome…is inadmissible.” (8 USCS § 1182)” and those communicable diseases include:

U.S. intelligence knew about the secret Iranian nuclear lab since the Bush Administration; why was it leaked after Obama’s speech to the U.N.? By Timothy Birdnow There is a piece by Kenneth Timmerman in Newsmax about the secret Iranian nuclear facility that bears closer scrutiny. Timmerman shows that the Bush Administration was aware of this facility (and took considerable heat as a result of the National Intelligence Estimate claiming Iran was years away from the bomb) and our European allies were united behind us. Obama refused to drop this bombshell at the U.N., and Iran sent a communiqué to the International Atomic Energy Commission outlining their program before the ax could fall.

Dreams of their Fathers By Timothy Birdnow The Left seeks the audacity of soap; they want to scrub away parental authority. A time-honored method of discipline for children who said naughty words was to “wash their mouths out with soap”. This was an unpleasant but effective and safe remedy, and thirty years ago no-one would have thought better of it. Not now; the nanny state, steeped in the illogic of their “progressive” child-rearing notions of raised self-esteem (arrogance) and a refusal to exercise legitimate moral power have led to great changes in the way discipline is meted out (in fact, liberal educators don’t want discipline at all, believing they can convince a child of the rationality of an argument). They are so against discipline that they are criminalizing corrective acts, as this story illustrates quite plainly.

Democrat tricks would be comical, if they weren’t so blatantly farcical. By Yomin Postelnik At this time in our nation’s history, we need people with ingenuity. So when a congresswoman with little name recognition decides to run for US Senate while simultaneously running for reelection to her House seat, that kind of creative thinking is worth noticing. Sure she dropped out after amassing hundreds of thousands in campaign funds, but you’ve just got to applaud that outside of the box thinking, the kind of thinking that makes sane people pause the nation over.

The same liberal Democrats who are quick to yell “anti-Semite” are the same people who’ve attempted to sell out both American and Jewish security in order to curry favor with the world’s “intelligentsia” (a misnomer if ever there were one). By contrast, the Republican Party has stood for the inalienable rights of all people since its founding right through to this day. Republican intent trumps Democrat pandering hands down, no contest, TKO.

By Kevin Price Recently I received a pitch on a guest who argued that we could have “life and government without taxes.” It was a slow news day and the thesis was interesting, so I thought, “why not?” After the show I could name several reasons. In essence this guest took my audience through a maze that was evasive when it came to the question of where revenue would come from. He indicated that it came from sources that “would typically to the employees of the company” or “consumers in lower prices.” So, there were taxes, just the type of taxes that people or business would not “feel.” These are the worst kind of taxes. The government has been striving to develop ways of taxing people, without us realizing it. Two examples of this are inflation and taxes on business.

by Timothy Birdnow NASA is reporting a spike in cosmic rays (1) as a result of the very quiet sun. Cosmic rays are protons and other subatomic particles that result from (usually) cataclysmic interstellar activity (like supernova). Normally these particles find it difficult to penetrate the heliosphere, that region around the sun where magnetic activity is high and the solar wind (itself a stream of charged particles coming out of the sun) “blows”. The sun’s magnetic field is down to 4 NanoTeslas, or down about a third to a half (normal range is 6 to 8 nT`s). During active solar periods, the solar wind sweeps cosmic rays from the heliosphere in much the same fashion as rain helps get rid of air pollution; the particles “drip” steadily, striking the cosmic rays just as the raindrops strike the floating particulate and make it fall. During the recent Grand Solar Maximum the high rate of solar wind swept the cosmic rays out much like a broom sweeps out a dusty room.

By Douglas V. Gibbs Frank Rich of the New York Times wrote a piece recently designed to be a hit-piece on Glenn Beck. He aptly titled the editorial, “Even Glenn Beck Is Right Twice a Day.” The title is a reference to a broken clock, of which has the right time twice a day. The first sentence of the article reads: “IF only it were just about the color of his skin.” Mr. Rich obviously has fallen head first into the sewage the Left has been spewing, calling anyone that dares disagree with the great and wonderful Obama a racist. Despite the ominous tone of the accusation of racism that dominates the early part of Mr. Rich’s article, Frank goes on to say that all of the disapproval against Obama is much more than just bigotry, health care, or even Obama. He’s right, for once, sort of. Bigotry has little to nothing to do with the protests. Health care is an ingredient, but not a primary reason. Even Obama himself is not entirely the problem. The policies of Washington, and the willingness...

By Douglas V. Gibbs For the first time since 9/11 I do not feel like the United States Government is doing all it can to protect America from terrorism. The national security component of the Obama Administration has been undeniably weak since Barack took office on January 20. American voters chose change partly because they felt that McCain was too old, and they didn’t trust Sarah Palin to receive that call at 3:00 AM. Real America, we were told by the feigning press, was tired of Bush’s War, and John McCain promised to be more of the same. Barack Obama campaigned that he would shut down Guantanamo Bay, weaken our defenses, and head to the negotiation table with no pre-existing conditions with the Islamic tyrants of the world. In the end, we were made to believe, America would be safe, and peace would somehow weave its way onto the world stage filled with global understanding, and fields of poppies. A lone, piercing cry of “You lie!” shook everyone out of the daydream.

By Douglas V. Gibbs The Anaheim Angels (I refuse to use the Los Angeles addition to the name) has been my team since the mid-seventies. I hung with the Halos through the good times and the bad times (mostly rough times, back then). When the new millenium arrived, the Angels picked up Mike Scioscia as their manager, and from that time forward became a consistent winner (my Los Angeles friends constantly remind me it took a Dodgers catcher to make the Angels a winning team). The most gratifying part of the new Angels, I have to admit, is how the Angels have the Yankees number. Last night, before a rowdy sell-out crowd in Anaheim, the Yankees lost their 18th game of their last 23 games at Angel Stadium. Andy Petitte, admittedly one of those pitchers I respect greatly both on and off the field, threw a great game, but was not enough to break Anaheim’s strangle-hold on New York’s beloved Yankees. If only the Angels could have the same kind of success against the Red Sox.

By Douglas V. Gibbs The Left is all about motives. Their good intentions. You know, they have the good intentions to make everything fair and equitable. The road to Hell is paved with good intentions. As the debate over Leftist programs like Universal Health Care, Cap and Trade, and the systematic takeover of the private sector by government regulation and federal control, heightens during the presidential term of Barack Obama, the fact of the matter is that Democrats are losing the debate. They are unable to supply specifics, and their policies have no legs when the U.S. Constitution is applied. No where in the United States Constitution does it provide for the federal government to provide health insurance to citizens through socialized medicine. No where in the United States Constitution does it allow the federal government to own part of a private business, as the Democrats have done in regards to General Motors. No where does the United States Constitution enable the federal...

By Douglas V. Gibbs The panic about Congress calling an Article V. Convention is unfounded. The Democrats aren’t trying to change the Constitution with a Constitutional Convention. They are trying to avoid an Article V. Convention because such an event is a tool of the people - and they fear losing that kind of power to their constituents. Once again there are concerns over a Constitutional Convention being called by Congress. The “Con-Con” is said, by those afraid of one being called, to be an attempt by the liberal Democrats to try and rewrite the entire U.S. Constitution. These folks erroneously believe such a convention would result in repealing the Bill of Rights, and changing forever the foundational form of government by which America operates.

By Douglas V. Gibbs President Obama and ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos had an unexpected battle on Sunday (is ABC then going to join Fox News on the NoBama list of rejected networks?). Stephanopoulos dared to challenge The One by asking whether or not the president’s health care plan includes a tax increase. Of course, Obama claimed it didn’t have a tax increase (Obama has gotten really good at lying… have you noticed?) Stephanopoulos asked when referring to the mandatory coverage clause, “Under this mandate, the government is forcing people to spend money, fining you if you don’t. How is that not a tax?” Obama responded, “No, but — but, George, you — you can’t just make up that language and decide that that’s called a tax increase.” Stephanopoulos pulled out the dictionary and read the definition to Uncle Barry. “I don’t think I’m making it up. Merriam-Webster’s dictionary [says] ‘Tax, a charge, usually of money, imposed by authority on persons or property for public purposes.’”

By Douglas V. Gibbs Obama doesn’t like Fox News, nor does any of the other leftist sheep. Fox News has never really been “conservative,” but as time is passing, it seems to be becoming more so. Alan Colmes has departed, and Glenn Beck has arrived, for example. Today Obama did five Sunday shows, including Univision (Spanish), but not Fox News. Remember, he doesn’t like Fox News (and hasn’t been shy about talking trash on the news network, either). Could you imagine how crazy things would have been if Bush has decided to be on only Fox News, and told MSNBC and CNN to take a hike? The backlash would have been incredible. Jon Stossel has had enough of ABC, and so now he is deciding to move over to Fox News. What is interesting about that is the crap he is getting for his decision.

By Douglas V. Gibbs A Thief in the Night was a film I watched as a young man during the seventies. The plot circled around The Rapture, and as a Christian I found the movie very intriguing. A scene that still speaks to me in my memory began with a woman waking up and hearing her husband’s electric razor buzzing in the bathroom. She gets up to see the shaver rumbling on the sink, and he is not there. The other part of the film that stands out in my memory is the United Nations’ role in pulling together a global effort to deal with the event of millions of people worldwide suddenly vanishing. United Nations vans cruise the streets as the government officials search for anyone not willing to comply with the new emergency measures they had to take. The government system that arises is called UNITE (United Nations Imperium for Total Emergency), and is primarily set up to find those who do not receive the mark of The Beast, which identifies them with UNITE.

By Douglas V. Gibbs Little Green Footballs has decided that the number of folks at the 9/12 rally in Washington DC was greatly exaggerated. The number given by conservatives has floated between 1.2 million and 2.1 million. Midget Moldy Footballs, er, uh, Little Green Footballs says the number was under 100,000. That is a stadium number, and the number of folks in Washington DC was many more than what you could cram into a stadium. But, hey, don’t take my word for it. Let’s ask the University of Indiana. Zac Moilanen of Indiana University did a study to figure out just how many people did attend that event - and guess what? The result was much more than tens of thousands.

By Kevin Price Child prostitution, voter fraud, tax evasion, and financial support for prostitutes and pimps are among the many headlines that have plagued the controversial Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN). The timing of these stories could not be worse for the controversial organization. We are a little more than a year away from the next election cycle and there are many members of Congress in both Houses, including the Senate Majority Leader (Harry Reid) who are fighting for their political lives. In spite of President Obama’s love and admiration for ACORN (he, in fact, actually worked for it and with it for many years), the Congress wants to distance itself from an organization that has received millions of taxpayer dollars because it continuously finds itself in the news for all the wrong reasons.

By Douglas V. Gibbs When Barack Obama won the presidency, the Democrats announced that Barry’s win was evidence that America had finally moved past something as foolish as racism. Whites would feel more comfortable working for Black supervisors, Black children were suddenly inspired to become anything they want, and the veil over the eyes of the racist white people was finally lifted. True diversity, coupled with full acceptance, had finally arrived. America, under the guidance of the great Obama, would become a progressive Utopia in motion. Barack Obama was being hailed as the uniting president. If anybody could unite the various groups of America, Obama could.

By Douglas V. Gibbs If the Democratic Party had half the fear driven into it that ACORN does, it would cease to be a political party right now before the whirlwind of extremism completes its transformative flight through the ranks of the now radically leftist political party. Fascism has reared its ugly head in the ranks of the Party of the Jackass, and America is recognizing the Left’s folly for what it is: A Lust for Power, and a desire to turn this country into a socialist haven for Marxists. Just a few more scandals, and a few more slips of the tongue, and the Democratic Party will cross the threshold of no return, prancing down the road to self-destruction, and total ruin. The sleeping giant has been awakened, and the once silent majority of Americans who are largely conservative, do not take kindly to the leftist attempt to hijack our nation, and turn it into something it was never intended to be.

By Douglas V. Gibbs Happy Constitution Day. Today marks the anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution on September 17, 1787. Officially created in 2004, the unofficial holiday has roots that reach back over 70 years, intertwined with Citizenship Day. Written in what is now called Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the United States Constitution shares its place of creation with the Declaration of Independence. Though written in 1787, the Constitution was not ratified until the following year. The writing of the U.S. Constitution was originally supposed to be a simple upgrade to the Articles of Confederation. It became rapidly apparent to the Founding Fathers, however, that the Articles of Confederation was not salvageable, and a new Constitution would need to be created. The founders locked the doors and closed the windows for five months, debating heavily, and arguing loudly.

by Timothy Birdnow When partial birth abortionist George Tiller was killed, the media went bananas, and his murder was chalked up to “right wing terrorists” and given as proof that Americans were racist bigots unwilling to allow a black man serve as president. But now the shoe is on the other foot, with a michigan man being shot and killed while protesting against abortion (in front of a school) and nary a peep is heard from the Fourth Estate. James Pouillon was shot (1) while picketing across the street from the Owosso high school by one Harlan Drake, who has admitted to shooting Pouillon because he carried a larger sign than others. Pouillon has since died of his injuries.
