Just was talking to http://www.friendfeed.com/garin and we came to the conclusion that if you are going to comment on a friendfeed item you should either be first or last. Why? They always are visible. So, here's your chance! :-)
Any worthy FF thread will engage interested parties enough to read most of the comments.
- iTad
Do I get bonus points if I end up being the thread killer?
- Kevin Johnson
Kevin you could always delete your 1st comment. :)
- rob friedman
Kevin! Yes, and we're having a great time watching this. It will get old fast, but for now it's really fun!
- Robert Scoble
Dang it I am 5 min too late. So I guess it is like posting on a blog post, you always want to be first.
- Jeff
Hey Enrique.. that would suck. Oh... LAST! Oh Jeff... Last.
- Ted Bradford II
That's why these threads just go on and on and on... people just want to have the last word. ;-P
- Chris Heath
Chris: I don't want the last word. I want the penultimate word. :-)
- Robert Scoble
Nope, I like the riffng of the conversation. Jump in anywhere. Enjoy the free flow of ideas and worry not about being seen by the scanners. Those who take the time to expand the thread have such a richer experience.
- michael sean wright
if i wasn't so tired i'd play that out Chris (as my last post was truly in jest). Late here in East TN. Gonna go tip a few cows and call it a day.
- Ted Bradford II
Ted: so was mine ... didn't you catch the winky tongue? (i'm on cape fear so i'm soon to bed as well)
- Chris Heath
Good point, unless you're actually using the RT chat aspect of FriendFeed, I guess...
- Andy Werner
I actually come back 5 days later to make comments so I can have the last word. Everyone has already forgotten what the conversation is about by then.
- Jeff
Chris- I did, but needed a segue into a cow tipping joke... cause I've never done so before. I do know this, tomorrow I will use the word 'penultimate' and dazzle family and friends. Hope alls quiet on the Cape bro. These storms have been a biotch. Annnnnnd Jeff just trumped us all. Tell him what he's won Enrique... nite all.
- Ted Bradford II
Second to last is always visible on my screen. :)
- Bwana ☠
Clever way to get the most commented upon comment on FF ever....
- Barak B
Ted, if you haven't dozed off- i'll have you know that the coastal winds tend to keep a lot of the storm systems at bay- if you're close enough to the water - a mile or 5 inland can make a big difference some days - and spot t/storms can be localized around here big time - for instance yesterday it rained (for a short period) at my house while i was at work 5 miles away getting no rain - only knew cuz the ground was wet when i went home for lunch... ok - it's really time for sleep now - g'nite FriendFeed
- Chris Heath
friendfeed should allow for "liking" comments so top comments can be the ones shown, no matter the chronology. And allow the users to watch comments by likes, threaded or chronologically.
- Charbax
A blatant attempt at gaming the FriendFeed statistics for no real useful purpose... Oooh, can I be last, Please Please!!!
- Peter Kelley
No, Peter, you may not be last. That's my position.
- Chris Charabaruk
Are trying to go for the longest comment thread again?
- Amit Morson
Amit: no, most times one post gets hidden.
- Robert Scoble
In a different timezone you can have the advantage :)
- Rene de Vries
Okay, people, nothing to see here. Just walk on. This is the last comment. It's all clear now.
- Ruud van Wijngaarden
What if you write backwards? Does that help?
- Kieran Daly
Okay, people, nothing to see here. Just walk on. This is the last comment. It's all clear now. says Ruud van Wijngaarden
- Julian Edward
It would be nice if we could pick the number of comments shown at the top and bottom, I'd like to see the first 3 and last 3 for example.
- Kol Tregaskes
I usually read all the comments of something I'm interested in. I don't just read the top and bottom ones so I don't care where I come in. I comment on what I want to because I want to say something. It's nice if the original poster reads/responds to it, but not absolutely necessary. Most of the time the most fun/interaction comes from other commenters.
- Molly
Being last has one drawback. It makes you a thread-killer. I'm not sure some of us like being that. Sometimes I'd rather see the discussion keep going.
- George Hall (Australia)
Do like the suggestion made earlier that there should be bonus points for being the thread-killer...
- George Hall (Australia)
And there is nothing I hate more than reading that first comment that childishly claims "First!" and nothing more. "Last!" (until the next comment comes along)
- Jim Espinoza
By the way, I'm the last commenter in a very participated thread recently started by Robert Scoble, but that didn't gain me almost any new follower. I'm fine with this though, as I'd find silly being advantaged for being the last commenter ;-)
- Opensource Obscure
112 comments - but there can never be last comment, can there? Unless there is a FF limit on the number of comments - Paul, is there a limit?
- WoH: Minding her Steves
The current last comment is the next penultimate comment.
- Brian Sullivan
Not everyone is on here to market themselves to infinity. Why people, other than people who actually make money off of exposure, insist on wanting the most friends on ff/fb/ms/tt is beyond me. Not everyone is a Scobilite! Yes I did just make that word up... where do I copyright it? lol
- Jason Williams
Didn't someone blog about tinyurl's dominance a while back - about how they have too much power. Might have been Gillmor or Winer
- Bwana ☠
Winer. I don't think they have too much power
- Steve Gillmor
Kevin: i did not say it was spam. I put the smiley face indicating my partial joking nature. but only partial.
- Jeff
Robert: I could not figure out how to disable comments for particular post. It is really not a big issue since I have gmail, but I do think this post may never die.
- Jeff
I seem to be last on many of Steve Gillmor's posts @techcrunchit, the kiss of death to many a conversation. I should be so lucky here.
- Aron Michalski
from fftogo
A good way to stop? - Scoble puts in his penultimate comment Kevin Johnson says zaloom!
- Julian Edward
This is the Seinfeld of FF....the post and comments about nothing. I wonder what the record is for the most comments on FF?
- Jeff
As a fine-art platform, as a painting, do you think anyone would be interested in a full-screen image feed animated by Judith Supine? http://www.flickr.com/photos...
- stephen harlow
I like most anything distilled...information, bait...(distilled bait...is that like the worm at the bottom of the mezcal?)
- guruvan (Rob Nelson)
The difference would be that in this case the worm will stay on the bottom. No matter what.
- Ruud van Wijngaarden
I reckon it'll be Ruud van Wijngaarden
- Julian Edward
I am not quite sure about that. But willing to accept it. (Wait! You just called me a worm? The most underrated but valuable animal on the planet, that brings us fertile ground and eats dead stuff? It is a nice compliment, but might be a bit much).
- Ruud van Wijngaarden
No, No! - I didn't mean you worm. Although as you say they are useful beings. I do hope you'lll be in heroic position of last commenter! This is a case of the last shall be second. (Kevin Johnson being first of course). Scoble is penultimate we would hope. I'm aiming for 5th to last!
- Julian Edward
Yesterday somebody asked: 'if you pass the number two in a race, which place are you in?' and I answered wrong. Passing the last one in this race will be hard...
- Ruud van Wijngaarden
you mean Twitter Gar1n? You were talking on TWITTER WEREN'T YOU! LIAR "friendfeeed Garin" pfttttt still the same bi-polar
- sofarsoShawn <Pop-Rocks>
Interesting comment, SFSS, very interesting indeed. So interesting, in fact, that I think that nothing further needs to be added to this thread. Ever.
- WoH: Minding her Steves
אתם כל כך מלא חרא, אבל זו בעיה שלך, לא שלי :-)
- David Gross
from email
actually i don't know how not to be the last commenter :)
- İ. Emre Kutlu
If only I could puncture the depths of Scoble's scratch-the-surface brain fart, techno-vangelizing, then I'd actually care WHOLE HEARTEDLY about this meaningfully retarded thread.
- sofarsoShawn <Pop-Rocks>
The only way this thread can be made even more ridiculous and anachronistic is to move it to identi.ca.. Myspace would work, too.
- Tal Shafik
And since you can't guarantee being last unless you are the originator of the thread or can convince the originator to end comments (but since Robert is AWOL that is unlikely) -- you better be first. ;-)
- Brian Sullivan
Everyone thinks Apple has it in for Flash, but what if it's Google who's quietly removing flash dependency from all their apps to prepare for a world where Flash plug-ins aren't assumed? Discuss!
It also allows contractors to create websites for people that nobody but them has any hope of maintaining.
- Kevin Fox
Cristo - I'm with you, completely. What's more, it really ticks me off when I see someone using Flash to do something they could have easily used Javascript to implement (which, if done properly, would fail gracefully, and, of course, doesn't require a proprietary extension).
- Fried Curdys
I think its more the case that Adobe so botched their SDK strategy for phones and devices over the last six years that the world pretty much had enough of them two years ago. They might be starting to straighten it out with Flash 10.1 but its too late now. The fact is its still a CPU and memory pig and that is a bad combination on battery powered phones.
- Ed Millard
Flash is just good for creating really artistic sites. But soon, hopefully, with the help of html5, js and other stuff people won't need flash.
- Eren Emre Kanal
Flash hates my computers. They all need a 2nd fan to support Flash. Tho it did give me a chance to teach my wife about Activity Monitor.
- Christopher Galtenberg
Cristo, I realize, a lot of people just hate Flash. In disclosure I worked on it for a year at Macromedia back in the Flash 6 era. People might forget but Flash 6 enabled YouTube and that finally made video on the web not suck so it does deserve some cred for that. Remember back when you had to have Real, Windows Media, Quicktime and about 20 different ways to play video. that said Adobe has botched the staggering lead they acquired.
- Ed Millard
And yes I hate it for all the bad UI and banner ads its inflicted on the web but that is more a product of web designers and advertisers who think those things are .... good. I also have no use for Flash games. The world would be a better place without most of them but damn.... a lot of people do seem to like playing them
- Ed Millard
So anyway, yes, yay Google if so. HTML5 + javascript replacement, please.
- Christopher Galtenberg
Me too, I made a business out of it for years and hoped it would lead the way in rich media on devices but Macromedia and Adobe proved why proprietary on the web is bad, because they botched it at every turn and left a trail of rubble in their wake. It remains to be seen if HTML/5 actually delivers though. They haven't exactly proved they can provide a universal video standard for the web yet though presumably if Apple and Google keep pushing they well. Its not like H.264 isn't problem plagued too
- Ed Millard
And Silverlight is just a rerun of everything that was bad in Flash with newer fresher code.
- Ed Millard
Maybe but rich media is pretty complex and it remains to be seen if A) it can be designed by committee B) you can field tools for it to enable designers to author it who aren't coders and C) you can implement reliably and effectively across a hundred different browser and a thousand platforms. People like to pretend the browser is the answer to everything but browsers have been a litany of incompatibility and bugs and the richer HTML gets the potential increases unless their are rigorous standards and tests
- Ed Millard
One plus for Flash is if you have one organization fielding the plugin they can at least attempt to enforce consistency in implementation. Adobe kind of did but then they started forking FlashLite, Mobile Client and cherry picking platforms to get good support, some support and no support and ultimately they failed as the divergence in to devices began
- Ed Millard
Maybe, there are some good open source vector graphics tools but developing GUI intensive authoring tools is pretty hard, and the open source communities track record is uneven in those kinds of apps. You add in video, audio, animation, a full featured programming language it gets pretty hairy. One problem Flash has, Silverlight and HTML/5 doesn't, is they've kept content running authored 10 years ago. Not sure open source will retain compatibility for 2 years.
- Ed Millard
Cristo, Flash isn't and never was designed for programmers, almost all programmers hate it, me included. Its built for web designers and graph artist types who program a little, and they are the ones that made it a succes. They tried to fix it with Flex but its just never been a programmers tool
- Ed Millard
The thing about compatibility is it's one reason its kind of a CPU and memory pig and Flash does deserve some slack. They have 10 years of content, games huges numbers of people still play and they have to keep it all running. The hacks they have to do to keep evolving the platform but retain backward compatibility is murder. Silverlight started with a clean slate so they have a huge advantage doing everything new.
- Ed Millard
LOL, well you can say that, if they actually did everyone of their developer/designers and a big chunk of the web would be furious. If you broke Farmville everyone's crops would die... the carnage. It appears its past time to start over with a new standard. I hope HTML/5 is it though I think the jury is out if a committee will actually pull it off. Rich media is hard and I'm not sure you can even make one standard to do it all, maybe need a couple competing standards which will cater to different needs
- Ed Millard
In effect Apple did break it all on the iphone and now the iPad so you got your wish there. They did make up for it in native apps doing a lot of cool post Flash rich media. The browser experience is still kind of a train wreck though. Gilmore gang was interesting yesterday with them pretty much declaring Flash dead. Scoble said he got used to Flash websites being broken because of iPhone and two years later it doesn't really bother him. No doubt Jobs planned it that way
- Ed Millard
One of the interesting philosophical questions in this debate, now that the web is like 15 years old, what do you do with classic content. Do you constantly break everything so nothing is more than two years old or do you try to preserve content, some of which is nearly priceless and irreplaceable. The first option allows faster evolution, but you do lose something when you say nothing will last.
- Ed Millard
"classic content". Flash ain't Super Mario Bros. It's this decade's IE6.
- Christopher Galtenberg
I'm thinking along the lines that people still consider 30 year old arcade games, games from Commodore, Amiga and Atari, early consoles and handhelds as classics and go to great lengths to keep them running under emulators. Different people have different opinions of what is important. I don't particularly value or play Flash games, but they seem to have an appeal to a lot of people, perhaps for their simplicity, or tens of millions wouldn't be playing Farmville.
- Ed Millard
I think most developers have it in for Flash - some don't realize it yet.
- Jesse Stay
So, someone said JavaScript plus HTML is a better option than flash... Really? I still have my qualms about JavaScript, and how crappy it can run... maybe more depends on the developer and how the code is implemented. seems to me, it's better to go with no "scripting" just regular programming code, and use an MVC model, don't you think? we've been here before, let's not go backwards again. we can design a nice site without flash and JavaScript...
- Danielle Closs
from BuddyFeed
"Classic" flash apps are probably in more danger from their hosting being cancelled. That's what happens to sites that don't get used. Of course, it wouldn't be hard to download the swf's and save them for posterity. While you're at it, back up a copy of Flash player 9. Then emulate a Win XP install and play those silly flash games all day long.
- Kevin L
Danielle - I believe I'm the one you're referring to, and I think you missed an important point in my comment about using javascript: "if done properly, would fail gracefully." There is no real way (other than writing a completely separate version) for Flash to fail gracefully. I assume you realize that the backbone of Web 2.0 (AJAX) is javascript, right?
- Fried Curdys
I am glad, I never learned how to build Flash websites.
- Shakeel Mahate
Flash is still the best program for creating web based games -- in that niche there's nothing else like it.
- Michael Pinto
The main performance hit Flash takes is rending lots of vectors, so HTML5 could suffer the same issue if they got down the SVG route. Being restricted to a fixed panel helps here, with SVG unrestricted in the DOM you've got a lot more layout to do on every redraw. The AS3 JIT in Flash 9+ is probably more efficient then Javascript implementation are going to be for a long while due to...
- Russ
Before anyone gets the wrong idea, I don't think Flash is perfect. It should only be used when there's no other way of doing what you want (assuming what you want is sensible). However I don't believe that just because it's not written in Flash there's going to be less sites that are inaccessible or that slow your machine down to a crawl, which some people seem to be doing.
- Russ
@Russ: pretty much entirely agreed. We're going to see more and more dynamic sites moving from Flash to HTML5, because they pretty much give you the same set of primitives to work with. And they're going to create mostly the same set of problems. Curtiss' point is well-taken, though -- for content sites, at least it will usually be possible to stop the script and still see the content.
- Joel Webber
@Russ again: I would point out, though, that Adobe's JIT is still rather slower than V8 and Nitro in Javascript land. If AS3 *required* static types (either lexically or through inference) for all values, then it would be possible to approach Java/C performance, but the existence of dynamic types forces the VM to be conservative in the vast majority of cases, so it's not likely to ever outperform the best JS VMs.
- Joel Webber
A prediction: Adobe will stop caring a great deal about the Flash plugin, and will set their sites on HTML5 output as the primary option. Adobe's a tools vendor after all, and while I suspect they were hoping to make money on mobile runtime license fees (like Sun did for a while with J2ME), that dream seems largely dead at this point.
- Joel Webber
The YouTube switch was huge. I don't think it's Apple (Jobs) with a vendetta against Adobe -- or vice versa. It's iPhone's OS that can't handle the load.

The Great Google Wave invite thread. Anyone who wants an invite post your Gmail address here and anyone who has invites available please use to invite the people on this list. There are also a bunch of requests in the Invites group here: http://friendfeed.com/invites
I have a few but holding them for a few people who have already asked me. I'm at kolint [at] googlewave [dot] com btw. A pain I know but if you can, could you update your comment when you have an account or just delete your comment. Ta! :-) EDIT: Try this site for invites: http://googlewaveinvites.com/
- Kol Tregaskes
Are people on this list getting invites or at least been told they have an invite on the way? You might have to be patient, it could take a long time for one to come through.
- Kol Tregaskes
Adam, yep agree. Maybe because I did that (month ago though) helped me get mine through from Vijay so quickly!
- Kol Tregaskes
@Kol, the invitation process seems to be based on nominations. For example, everytime someone nominates/invites you, you get bumped up the queue for an account until you're at the top and you get sent an invite by the team
- Ema Nymton
Ysabel, ah I see, So lots of people must have nominated me. Darn, so a few users I have nominated could be waiting a looooong time. :-(
- Kol Tregaskes
if that voting system is right I'm very annoyed. I asked for an invite months ago, now all the numpties are all over it I'm not going to get a look in. It's like I've been sat at the front of a shop queue and everyone's just walking right past me into the shop. I am British but I detest both queuing and waiting, so this is pretty tough going

We use plastic, because the bottles that I liked (Medela for Breastmilk) don't come in glass until 8 oz. and that was (and still is) too big. I checked out the 8 oz. glass Medela bottles at Babies R Us a few weeks ago and they were really heavy. The plastic is much lighter weight and is BPA-free, which were the two important factors for me.
- Rochelle
plastic. someone gave us avent bottles at a baby shower, so we have stuck with them. didn't want to chance zoe being picky and not taking a different kind. she's growing out of them and we've only had three bottles for the 19 months of her life.
- Trish Haley
Thanks for the input! I did find 4oz Medela glass bottles at babies r us Rochelle, in case you are interested.
- Georgia
we used Avent plastic bottles with both our kids.
- Joe Silence
Hey Rochelle, have you guys tried the coconut water yet? Any luck?
- Aviv
Plastic (Born Free). We have 1 Born Free glass, and I really don't like it as much. The main reason is that it's much harder to warm up the milk/formula in a glass bottle because it hold so much more fridge cold than the plastic does. Also, the plastic is way lighter, so easier to hold for those marathon-ish feedings.
- Steve and 3 other people
Thanks everyone. I think I'll go exchange the few glass bottles I bought for a variety of plastic ones.
- Georgia
Aviv, I actually forgot all about that! Where do you buy it? It is sold near the juice?
- Rochelle
I've been using Dr. Browns plastic, and they seem to work well for us. I would find out what works for you and stick with it.
- Matt Hilton
Rochelle, we buy the O.N.E. brand, usually at Whole Foods because they often have great deals on them, but we see it everywhere.. try the refrigerated drinks section at your local grocery store (also try the store locator here: http://www.onenaturalexperience.com/storelo...). Hopefully Audrey will like it so much and you'll then get boxes full of them instead of the refrigerated individual packs. :)

I do like FF and use it almost every day. Wouldn't it be great if FB either left it alone so we can continue to use it as "professionals," or somehow incorporate it into a more "mature" version of FB that didn't have all the annoying, time-wasting apps, games, etc. I'd much prefer a totally customizable FF "wall."

Count me in even though I was just starting to get hooked. I guess it's time to find a rehab and get all sobered up until the next relapse with some other new addiction. Isn't life grand?

oh hey, look, the added an "add comment" link to the end of the comment list. Huzzah!

++Jay. I was going to do the same thing yesterday but I didn't want to pay the money.

David -- this was a $9.95 session but you can get them for $7.95 and there are also 25% off coupons if you do online check-in prior to your Delta flight. That's an incentive for folks to use that service and offload kiosk use at the terminals. Very savvy marketing by the folks at GoGo and Delta combined.
- Jay Cuthrell
Yo Scobey! I like Dave Winer's thoughts on user owned tech companies ... been thinking similar things.
- Jason Cronkhite
well, it's 12:12 a.m. and I'm perusing FF from my iPhone via BuddyFeed before turning in. so yeah, I guess I count. "Here!" (raises hand)
- Don Faulkner

I recommend FF to some of my clients, and there are some companies and nonprofits with presences here—not like Twitter, but I'll be curious how that will be affected when FB takes over more. Most have FB fan pages, groups and/or causes, too.

И так чятег, пока Скобл не поговорит с нами представителями СовиетФрендфидика, все мои записи теперь можно читать в этом тредике. Пользуясь случае передаю Парню Бухайту и его команде большой привет, в связи с тем что [He can has sleep naw].

Hi, I'm Bette... I don't know if I'm an addict, but I can't stay away... I keep checking, just to see if something's new... and I cry if I get no responses to a post. Is that addictive behavior? :D
- Bette Cooper
Yup, I have blocked all the impersonators now. You will still see them, but I don't see them and they no longer can comment on any of my items.
- Robert Scoble
@scobleizer As far as I can see you have blocked not only the impersonators (who renamed themselves back the moment they found out you have a problem with this) but most of the folks who chatted there.
- Умом и сообразительностью
@meatreach yes, see next thread. Scobble becomes anti-Russian.
- Never Impersonate You
Maxatma: well, that's just too bad. I speak English. Sorry. People who don't speak English really don't have any business commenting on one of my items, except in rare cases.
- Robert Scoble
Why you, Robert Scoble, don't block users from Spain or Italy? China or arabic countries? Those users that comments on non-English languages?
- Never Impersonate You
@Robert, in fact they do speak English. But they also do make fun of Friendfeed and everything that's going on there. You can block them or take part in this fun. ;)
- Умом и сообразительностью
I prefer FF over twitter and facebook, but all my friends are on twitter and/or facebook. Maybe facebook will get it right this time now that it has acquired FF. If they simplify it a bit more without removing functionality. Then I would spend a bit more time on FB. Lets hope all goes well with the merger. If not I'm jumping ship and going over to Google Wave. oh wait, I'm going to go with Google Wave regardless! ;-)
- Captain Jack
Bu arada Russian friends Turkiye'ye selamlar gonderiyor.
- ideali
for 6 words, this post sure got a lot of mileage. What now Scoble wan kenobi?
- shaun mclane
Oh, check FF.. doh FarceBook... my fingers are crossed in hope.
- Greig
@scobleizer i can speak english and i beg you to remove bann from all russian friendfeeders, because we are all from it-community, working in internet companies and we came with peace, you asked for feedback from friendfeed addicts — we show you how really it is being frf addicts, we change names, we chat, we making things that are not serious. Why so serious? Unlock people, they are not bots, they just playing the game of real addicts and have fun. Common.
- ideali
shaun: I started this post to demonstrate that a lot of us are still here and aren't likely to leave. At least not quickly. So, life goes on after FriendFeed gets acquired by Facebook. Point proved.
- Robert Scoble
Beyler, bana bir sey anlatin, bu kadar ciddi olmaya ne gerek var? Translation: Guys, why so serious?
- ideali
ideali: have them send email to scobleizer@gmail.com and I'll unblock anyone who says they weren't impersonating me.
- Robert Scoble
Hector: good morning! I need coffee.
- Robert Scoble
@robert yes they (we will) stay here, I think tat the migration process will take time and after reading @Paul Bucheit, I think that what we all are trying to get even if we don't say it explicitly is to preserve a kind of intimacy (beeing a part of the Huge faceBook community) don't mean that FF community will preserve their intimacy, why should a community be a plan one, (let imagine a community as a set of sub-community) that all.
- abdellah
Wow!! So many likes and comments; is it a record Rob?
- Erfun
@scobleizer thank you, for understanding. be cool, guys we just want have fun here a little. Take care.
- ideali
@Robert RE "I have enough noise in my life. I don't need to have more" - isn't it a lot of noise having 26K subscriptions and 46K subscribers on your frf account? I'm kind of surprised - you create a community that large around yourself, yet when you see a new and unusual activity you just block it right away.
- Умом и сообразительностью
@Robert, patience? Who's talking about patience? It's about curiosity, not patience. When something strange and unusual happens around you, you can either try to stop it or try to see what it can develop into. You choose to stop - and it stopped. Well, not stopped - just moved to some other place. And do you really know what it was and what it was about to bring you?
- Умом и сообразительностью
I'm here all the way from South Africa! I dig this service and I'm not quite ready to give it up. Regardless of the news about the acquisition, this remains an awesome service.
- Paul Jacobson
I'm new to ff but find more valuable information here than anywhere else!
- Janet Crance
I'm sure this is part of Scoble's plot to poll all the people who really read his posts, and unfollow the rest. So I raise my hand.
- Shivanand Velmurugan
Just a wannabe. Not an addict (yet).
- Carole Hicks
It might also be a way for me to filter down my "following" count (diff (my followers, scoble)) are the only people I really need to follow. Those that scoble follows, I can safely unfollow and use Scoble as my social media filter :)

pardon the arrogance but it really sucks this great forum of sharing will turn into a myspace humdrum. Now I have to find another SM where first adopters and well informed techies won't haft to compete with general "noise"
- earl wallace
I just mention the 1500 mark since it was such an iconic query to see... that and the 500 Likes club of FF posts. It's pretty exclusive stuff... but it's also sobering to note that the subject matter required to get to these levels isn't always a uniform mix of cares/concerns.
- Jay Cuthrell
When I heard the FaceBook news, I tried to quit FriendFeed and I couldn't... I'M HOOKED
- The Web's Wendell Wittler
i clicked the "1488 more comments" and my computer nearly exploded. and yes, i am using an amiga 500.

Now that I have instructions (thanks LouisGray) and figured out my Bookmarklet! I am LOVING the ease of use! addict - not quite...
- Robyn Hawk
Actually, I lied. I am not a die-hard friendfeed fan. I desperately want to be but have just not been able to get into a good "feeding" rhythm. Maybe I need to add some more friends
- Anant Gairola
I don't need to be addict. I'm just here, everyday, absorbing so many geeky info :D There's no place like FF
- Lysender
I'm still with ya, Robert. Whatever FB paid for FF, it wasn't enough!
- Donald C. Lindsay
New here, but learning. Tips for best use?
- Barbara Langham
@bdlangam From my perspective the #1 tip in this category is: Explore and define "best use" for yourself. Despite potential "finishing" impression of some productive consolidations in this collective-collaborative cognition space, the emergent #cognosphere is still WAY too nascent to assert anything other than initial impressions. March to the beat of your own drum; build your own...

yeah sorry, late. was at Shambhala Music Festival, I know tardy, sorry...
- sofarsoShawn <Pop-Rocks>
I'm getting hooked, still figuring it all out
- Michele McGraw
I think I do. Not enough contacts to make a impression.
- Michael Schlag
If I like something @Scobleizer posts, it's not my fault it happens to be Scoble who posts it. I Like because I think the material is worthy of attention - mine or my followers. I know there are people who get sick of his popularity on FF, but some of us actually don't care about personalities - we care about what makes them interesting.
Plus, the reason I'm on FriendFeed is because Scoble talked about it so much on Twitter. Took me three separate visits to get it, but it was his persistence that ultimately brought me here. I think he deserves a lot of what he gets -- he has really helped FriendFeed grow and prosper.

My uncle, Mark Nobrega, has been missing since Tuesday (July 28) morning....He is 51 years old driving a 2004 Black Ford Ranger extended cab. MA license plate # 62YX71. Please call the police if you spot this vehicle.
I have a lot of followers in MA. I've retweeted and will post to Facebook to help.
- Anika
My understanding is that he was last seen at home in Templeton, MA (central part of the state) on Tuesday morning. He's not answering his cell phone. I have limited information as I only found out this morning via Facebook status messages other relatives had posted.
- Sally - Skyrimmin' It
Yes, he left the house on Tuesday, didn't arrive at work, canceled a lunch date with my grandmother and hasn't been seen or heard from since.
- Sally - Skyrimmin' It
Reshare this to the Massachusetts FF group. I would but don't know if fftogo does that.
- Bruce Lewis
from fftogo
Sally, sending thoughts and prayers your way.
- Kathy Fitch
You can also share this with the local news station. They are eager for social media inclusion and how it can be used to spread the word. If you search Twitter for Boston or any town and news, anchor or CBS, etc...you'll find a name.
- Liza + = ?
re: what Liza said, maybe try @7NEWS or @universalhub on Twitter.
- Penguin
How awful :-(. I hope you have good news soon that he is found safe and sound.
- asiriusgeek
No news to report yet. The local newspaper picked up the story and has a picture with it and family & friends in the area are posting flyers. From what the police were able to trace on his cell phone, the last call he placed went through a tower 2.5 miles from his house. It's very out of character for him to be gone like this, especially not showing up for work or getting in touch with his family.
- Sally - Skyrimmin' It
I just heard the news that your uncle was found.Your family has been in our thoughts since we found out he was missing. We are sooo sorry :(
- TheGaudets
This is just such a crappy summer...my mother-in-law died in June and now my uncle. I know the saying goes that death comes in threes, but seriously, I need a break.
- Sally - Skyrimmin' It
Sally: you have had a rotten summer :-(. My condolences to you and your family. I hope things start getting better ASAP!
- asiriusgeek
Cool maybe he is drinking with his friends lol!!!
- Compuworki
Actually, even though it's been a rotten summer, I hope that it's hit bottom and can only get better. The shock will wear off in a few days and I'll get back to a normal routine. You guys have no idea how helpful it's been having people on Friendfeed, Twitter and Facebook spreading the word and continuing to check in with us. Many of you, especially you Friendfeeders, don't know us personally and yet you're still so generous, giving of your time to check in and see how we're doing.
- Sally - Skyrimmin' It
Compuworki that is the most disgusting thing you could possibly say right now.
