The gouraud shaded one looks definitely better to me. The slight displacement of the highlighting even makes the "snow" cover look more realistic. - Vlado Handziski

The flat shaded is too busy. Each sharp edge is a feature that draws my attention. Annotations (text, icons) on the Gourad shaded version would be much more readable. - Seth

I agree that the flat shaded is too busy. At the same time it seems that the gouraud shaded one is too soft, and mountain peaks are lost. Maybe I can do some more tweaking. - Amit Patel

Looks like theres a difference of a few million years due to the shading. The flat-shaded one looks like a young, untamed island whereas the gouraud one looks like a nice, quiet place to build an island home. - Mark Trapp
