Francine: heheh, I will plead the fifth. :-) - Robert Scoble
For that price I'd better be served my Diet Coke by one of the Pemberton family. - Paul W. Swansen
Paul: and if you want to buy a smores kit they are $40 for a Hershey's chocolate bar, a few cookies, a few marshmallows, and a couple of wooden sticks. I usually get around these prices by bringing my own smores kits and drinks. - Robert Scoble
AIG hosted a conference for 100 independent insurance agents; no executives were involved. They had paid a deposit of $402,000.00 several months ago, so they would have been out that much had they cancelled. IMHO, I'm not sure it makes business sense to cancel rewards for the people who do the best job selling your products. - llebpmaC nelG
Please note that I'm not trying to defend AIG; there is more than enough evidence to convict them of mismanagement (see the Waxman committee website). In this case, however, I think people should know the facts before commenting. Unless you're uninterested in the facts, of course. - llebpmaC nelG
Glen: good point. But that said, what a poor PR move on their part. - Robert Scoble
Absolutely. But it would be horrible for their business if they cancelled their sales conference. I'd hate to be their PR person. No way to win with that one. - llebpmaC nelG
Brandon: believe me, they are charging what the market will bear. Like Francine notes I know the prices because I pay those prices once in a while. If the prices start to come down, I'll let you know. Vegas has already started reducing its prices for hotel rooms and traffic is definitely down there. - Robert Scoble
Do you have to pay for insults too or are they included in the bill? - Larry Kless
via twhirl
thanks for the response Robert. (sorry my FF comments have been mysteriously disappearing all day) - Brandon
I didn't even they had pumpkin spice liqueur. Of course my trips to the liquor store and far and few between. I would try it, though. - Michelle Martinez
Oh yum! I don't see any way that could be made virgin, though. :( - Rochelle
much of the "engineering" education is terribly outdated. We have a subject in 4th year where they teach us HTML. They taught us all about frames and went along to tell us that its the only way to get a uniform look throughout your site! When I argued that frames are a thing of the past and a nightmare for SEO I was promptly shushed up. What's even more wonderful is the fact that all this is actually news to most students! So much for our budding engineers! - Rahul Das
@Rahul - I learnt a long time ago that the best way to spend *those* kind of classes is 1. Practice lolspeak 2. Try refactoring your app designs 3. Try thinking of how your app would've turned out to be if it were architected with some other language/framework in mind. Works pretty well for me! - Yuvi
Trying to get them, *especially* the clueless staff is pretty useless. They seem to be stuck in some sort of stasis that a post graduate research student should find VERY interesting. - Yuvi
@yuvi Four years have taught me that its easier to just sleep through these classes. Does wonders for my nightly Internet time where I actually learn useful stuff! - Rahul Das
@Rahul - I, unfortunately, don't have that previlage :( Sitting in the front 3 rows has advantages - sleeping isn't one of them :( - Yuvi

out of personal curiosity and professional necessity, but not as full-time replacement for iPhone or N82 which I usually carry. - Jon Price
I am definitely going for an Android phone when it is available. Been looking forward to it for awhile it seems - Migger
Sure would. Can't wait to do my own thing with Android. Plus T-mobile customer service is superb. - Ashish Rangole
T-Mobile service isn't always the best, but they're growing - I like their low rates and great customer service. It's like dealing with friends, not some big corporation - Aaron Myers
i WONT buy jack from AT & T... and i want an iphone so android my be my olny choice - paisley
via twhirl
What's the beef with T-Mobile? I've used it since May when I got my BB Curve, and I've had no problems whatsoever with it (also pay significantly less than I did with VZW and had the same usage). - Harish V
it doesn't work in my house and lots of other places in SF area. - Robert Scoble
TMobile has been the best carrier I've used so far (against Sprint, Verizon and AT&T). I couldn't even talk on AT&T in my apartment... TMobile works for me every where I've been + overseas. I will most likely be getting an Android. - Lindsay Donaghe
If they sell the HTC Dream in China - I'll be one of the first to be buying it! - Ian Holton
I'm thinking about changing over to T-Mobile@Home. I've heard good things. - Aaron Myers
no, i got rid of mine about 4 years ago and it was like a monkey off my back - Cee Bee
We traded our $25/month Vonage for a $10 extra line on our cell service years ago. - Alix Whitmire
Yeah, I keep my home landline in case of emergencies. And because the home phone is cordless, I keep an old rewired Bakelite one handy as well in case the batteries run out in the cordless. Paranoid, moi? - Grant Fitzgerald
Been without a landline for over 5 years now. Never missed it. No one calls a house they call a person. - Kevin
Czar - oddly enough I have my techno-phobe wife to contend with. She hates people who drive and talk on cell phones - so she thinks it is obvious she should not get one... I will win this war in the end. Landlines are antiquated... they work very well for data lines, but I can get a cell phone plan for close to the same price and stay mobile. - ChangeForge | Ken Stewart
Grant, that is a very valid point. The old style POTS line with an analog handset is very dependable... just not sexy nor mobile ;-) - ChangeForge | Ken Stewart
@Matt I was actually thinking about something similar to that.. I have a larger avatar set now (I was missing a bunch of people) and there is a lot to fit. - Tim Hoeck
Well you will have to pay me $100 everytime you wear the shirt if you are going to have my image on it. :P - Mathew Ballard
2x, 8y = awesome, and honored. Enjoy the shirt, and let us know if people ask you who everyone on the back is while wearing it, and what your responses are :) - Nathan Chase
"And today, authorities announced a new form of depression caused by not being "friended" by important people on friendfeed. Apparently Dr. Wadda Frack has postulated that as recognition from thought leaders in the social media arena has become a form of social currency, that the "poor" among us are prone to depressive fits of outrage at not being included on the friendfeed t-shirts of the rich and shameless. To quote Dr. Frack, "This is very sad. The poor are always the last to know." ;-) - Bill Sanders
And Dr. Frack also wants to know where to order said FriendFeed Tee. - Bill Sanders
:0 cool, can i send them a higher res av image? - sergiooo
what a devious way to get more subscribers! hahaha - tagami
That is SO cool. (as I'm sure you already know) - Brandon Titus
So what's the deal, you just going to print on iron-on transfer or what? - Josh Haley
@tagami .. I realized that might happen after the post. FYI: new subscriptions will not be on the tee! I have the ones I am putting on there cached already (the pic above is not everyone) - Tim Hoeck
not to mention, these are the people I am subscribed to, not the ones subscribed to me! :) - Tim Hoeck
Is there a T-shirt service that let's you dynamically "program" t-shirts? I smell a business idea. - Jesse Stay
via twhirl
And when I say that I mean a custom t-shirt for each buyer, based on a username on something like FriendFeed - Jesse Stay
via twhirl
@Jesse Stay yeah there must be something I mean wheather you have charity or some cause you want to support there seems to be ways to get customized logos on shirts. I've heard of ways to even print a photo onto a shirt. - Colide81 (James)

Ha, so that's what I read about FF command line... I like it, but he... I like command lines... - Egon Willighagen
@brandon: yes - activites (i said smart tags before - oops). but i'm not sure they have the same 'angle.' seems like (since i've not tried Ubiquity) is user interface and that activities is a programming interface. - MikeAmundsen
this is yubnub done right. heck someone can make a simple bridge to yubnub :). What will be "dangerous" about this Ubiquity is its viralness. People will immediately shares commands. Hopefully not worm and viruses. - Akhmad Fathonih
Just installed Ubiquity and love it. I've not used IE for years and don't plan to. - Brett Nordquist
I installed it last night and I just love it, go on Moz crew!!! - darussol
IE8 makes all the websites I visit look like complete crap. If they're asking developers to use tags in their HTML so that IE8 will think it's IE7, that can't be a good sign. - Aaron Myers
I've been using YubNub and Slickrun for many months -- I'm not sure yet that Mozilla Ubiquity is a significant step forward. - Sean McBride
What Mozilla's Ubiquity ? Any link to share? - Arjun
UbiQ blows my mind away. Have been playing around with it all day. Just hoping that they imprve usability in the coming versions.
Tweeting from UbiQ is a breeze, I'm guessing this is going to increase load on Twitter APIs like crazy! - Vinodh
I installed Ubiquity late last night, and yes, it does have the WOW factor for me as well. I want to see how easy it is to create commands, after viewing the vid. Nice work. - Henry Burger
via twhirl
It sounds great for power users. I was also imagining a sidebar type app that would be suggesting things to do with stuff. Select an address and it would pop up a map and give you the option to email it. This way no need for new users to know text commands or have to think what might be the word to use. - John Cooper
Sidebar is a great idea...also "chaining" commands. What if i want to tinyurl something (or two) and insert into a twit (or email..). Also if you don't use gmail (gasp), launching the OS native URL handlers like mailto:. - Richard Goodwin
Ubiquity looks cool, but is very similar to what can be done with Quicksilver on Mac. - Martin Añazco
if you like ubiquity you'll be sure to love http://www.humanized.com/enso that's Aza Raskin's work before he joined mozilla, so you can see where the inspiration comes from :) - Chris Jones
watching the video for ubiquity @ mozilla labs now .... whoa - JohnBfromMemphis
I am yet to try out Ubiquity yet but your WOW has convinced me to check it out later ha! - Joe Dawson
Where do these smart people come from. Very cool. - Kenley Neufeld
this changes the way I can work... but what motivates me to change this way. - Stewart Rogers
Anybody found a FF Ubiquity command to subscribe to yet? - Grey Drane
help me, the editor is making me want to learn code. ARRRRRRGH! - (teh)Hussein
It's addictive, much like 'Launchy'. - Vinay | विनय
Yeah I love ubiquity too! Wonder what 1.0 will be like! :D - JegerPhil - Phil
If you're running Ubiquity on Linux, I would advise NOT setting the hotkey to SHIFT+SPACE. Esp. if you're fond of capitalisation... - wyclif
@Martin Añazco ya, it reminds me of Quicksilver and the command-line, too. I really love it!!!! It creates an awesome workflow that leads to inspired power browsing. - barce
Ubiquity is frakking awesome. Its like having Quicksilver inside your browser. - CubFan
Thanks to your blog post about Ubiquity I began using it and can see how it will enhance my web experience - Joshua Oehler

Even the Cell-Phone Law is a "no-enforce" law. And even so, it's $20 for the first offense and $50 for the second... what exactly are they expecting from these laws? - Brandon
I read recently that after all the petty fines and charges are added in, the final penalty for a first offense comes in at around $65. Anyone who thinks they can text and drive is mistaken. I do think, though, that to try and prohibit every possible distraction individually is nonsensical. - Jack Carlson
I like to hear the CHP talk about this in terms of the importance of two hands on the wheel. Maybe if my car lacked power steering or was made before 1973, I'd agree. - Pete Delucchi
Those crazy Californians. Here in Georgia we have more important issues, like freezing Big Foot. - Russellreno
I CAN text and drive. Do it every so often, but I have a Blackberry. However, it does reduce the safety factor while driving...But that's why it's important to keep good safety zones while driving...and not let anything overwhelm your ability to concentrate on driving. - Alex "Chameleon" Scoble
My car doesn't have power steering. I love it. :-) - Lisa L. Seifert
And yeah, it is stupid for them to codify it into law. Since police have the ability to stop and ticket anyone driving unsafely already. - Alex "Chameleon" Scoble
People do crazier things at the wheel- yesterday I saw a woman drinking coffee, applying make up, talking (to herself or on a hands free headset- not sure) and - oh yeah- driving. - Abby Martin
I am a safer driver when driving than when texting. One requires a lot less attention than the other, yet was outlawed first. - Pete Delucchi
I have to say, that's a pretty good article title. :P - Aaron Myers
@Pete ... I think you're missing a word or something, there ... - Nathan Rein
even TALKING on a cell phone while driving has been shown to be more dangerous, statistically, than driving drunk, if I'm not mistaken ... seems like texting must be worse, mostly not for the person texting but for the other people on the road. - Nathan Rein
The California legislature has a few more important things it needs to deal with right now: "California, with a budget year that begins on July 1, has been without a budget for the past 58 days." (http://www.californiaprogressr...) - Pete Delucchi
i must really suck at driving ...or at texting... because i can't do both at the same time. who does that? who? - .LAG
I confess to doing this at stoplights, but never, ever, while in motion. I tried it once and it scared me, there's only so much alert in me. - Pete Delucchi
so what's harder doing your eyeliner or sending a text?? - Morgan
@pete I always do it even when I'm going 90 in the fast lane. I'm a pretty safe driver ... hehe - Brandon
“The new FriendFeed at http://beta.friendfeed.com has me just as addicted as the old one. So, it wins in my view. How about you? (I can't get more addicted, I already check it hundreds of times per day).”
I love the new features! Easier to navigate. - Kyle Lacy
I have my second 21 inch widescreen monitor turned sideways with a fullscreen widow of FriendFeed open so I can see more posts at once... I think I need help :) - John Worthington
I am liking it quite a lot. I still need to organize me friends lists. - Sean Brady
only hundreds? you're losing your touch. - Pete Delucchi
I really like it because I can actually make some sense of the noise now I have four main groups on different topics going at different natural paces without missing interesting stuff from the quieter friends. Sometimes less is more impactful, so very happy with the new beta :-) - Sally Church
Hey Robert - dropping you an email as we speak. And about the new friendfeed - I like the cleaner interface but I still find having to click on my name at the top slightly unintuitive. - Zee from WeDoCreative
This new design is yet another step towards Twitter killer (with the 'post' field up the top of the stream) - Chris Saad
via twhirl
think i'm addicted to robert scoble, baby!!! :P - dy3kt
I like groups more each day. Like some one above said it is now easier follow the quiet friends, Flickr friends, political friends. - Russellreno
Love it. Groups were my #1 request, and they have been executed wonderfully. Also like the new focus on rooms. Miss the blue "share something" box at the top and the other blue top elements, though - with a design this simple, those small bits of interface design add up to what used to be FriendFeed's visual brand. Beside that, I'm very happy with the new functionality. -
