RT @losangelista: Dear Walmart Spammers: I hate Walmart. I think Walmart is the DEVIL. I will never shop in your store. I will work to keep you OUT of LA.
Last Sunday, I made a video to tell my FFriends the contents of this letter. I got emotional, I cried, I poured my heart out to FF. And then, after uploading the video, I discovered that the audio was off. Doh! Without further ado, my love letter to friendfeed. #SaturdayFF
RT @SamuelCookIII: Let me be clear--As a Democrat, there is not a single policy disagreement I have with Obama that can be solved by electing @MittRomney#p2.
So, I GOT A PROMOTION today. This is a big deal because I work for the state and there's an ongoing wage freeze. No Step increases for the past few years. But a higher job rating means a few bucks more in pay and, important to me, a better pension. I was afraid I'd retire before I ever saw a pay/pension increase.
Thanks, Guys. It's disheartening to keep working knowing you won't be better off if you hang on a few more years. You think you might as well hang it up if your income isn't going to improve. AND I deserve it!

Good to see everyone. Really tired and a little stressed, but looking forward to getting some rest this holiday. All the best to you and happy thanksgiving.
- Derrick
Hey, D-Love! Happy Thanksgiving to you, friend. Enjoy some well-deserved time off!
- LB is Li'l Roo.
I celebrated Thanksgiving in an old-fashioned way. I invited everyone in my neighborhood to my house, we had an enormous feast, and then I killed them and took their land. - http://annaharo.tumblr.com/post...
Anna, please come to Japan once! ..... ^o^
- keiko-san
I was actually born at Kamp Zama. My dad was in the Navy and he was stationed there. Actually, me and my 2 younger brothers were born there. :) So, I feel like it would be going back to a former home. :)
- Anna Lynn M.
Anna .... I was being held at Camp Zama, "Bon Odori" may be made once. This day I will be open for the Japanese part of the camp. It was very exciting!

I don't toot my own horn very frequently, but I am going to right now, so feel free to ignore. I have been with TiVo now for nigh on 2 months (3 days short as of today 20111116), and I have already gotten my title changed, and a raise. I am so proud right now.
woohoo! congrats! What's your title now?
- imabonehead
The probably should have hired you at that level. Good on ya! And NEVER be afraid to toot your own horn once in a while.
- ♫410 I Coach 'em Up♫
Everyone, thank you so much. I try not to fall into the pride thing too frequently, but having not ever finished school, this makes me very happy. imabonehead, went from Unix Systems Administrator, to Linux Systems Engineer (though I think the engineer portion is thrown about a little to much, I think I've earned it). </horn>
- Scott(Moo bitches!)
Scott, let me just say: You earned this, and it's a pleasure to work with you!

High-five and TiVo's all around. Right, Stephen? No?

Found out Dad has prostate cancer last night so i was depressed, but looking online it looks like the survival rate is really high even for a person in their 70's. Hopefully they caught it early and he's in that 99% survival group. Find out Monday if he lets me go to doc with him for treatment options.
I know of at least a dozen men who have survived prostate cancer, and none who lost their lives to it. Sorry about the news; hoping your dad pulls through.

I'm sorry to hear that, Steve, but I am optimistic for a successful treatment and recovery. *hug*
- Jenny H
:( I'm sorry to hear this, Steve. *hugs* If you have any questions, give Jack a call. Besides professional knowledge, he has personal experience with his dad also.
- Anne Bouey
Steve, I'm so sorry. Hoping they caught it early...
- CarlC
Just heard a lecture about this yesterday -- in a large fraction of cases, prostate cancer would never have bothered the patient if they never found out about it (i.e., even without treatment).
- Ruchira S. Datta
C'mon, he surely do, and I growing my MO also for him!

*Hugs * sorry you both have to go through this! I'm confident he will come through just fine, especially with all the good thoughts you have coming your way!!

:( sorry to hear he has to deal with this. Hugs to you and your family.

not good news.. now a days if caught early its easily cureable.Hoping that all works out !

I am so very sorry to hear this news. This was the age my father received his first diagnosis. DaVinci surgical techniques make for a much less painful surgery if this option is available. My brother was diagnosed with prostate cancer when he was in his late 50's and at 67 is doing well also.

No worries, I was offline for virtually all of the weekend (if you don't include a spot of Battlefield 3 ;-)). Brother and sister in law were over for the whole weekend! :-)

The weather this fall has been up and down. I think that along with the high wind yesterday has made for less than optimal colours this year. still... not bad, nature, not bad :)

The colors may not be as brilliant as when more leaves were on the trees, but I rather like the progression of foliage stages in the photo, from green to colorful to bare.
- John (bird whisperer)
The leaves here seem to be dropping really fast. Someone mentioned it's b/c it's been so dry, but I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not.

We had many below freezing nights followed by nights in the high 60s again. I think that caused many of the smaller branches to turn whilst the larger are taking their time.

since my tweets aren't feeding here, here it is again (apologies for the repetition). Four weeks from today, I will begin my new job as Web Librarian at Memorial University in Newfoundland.
