Schank wrote the book Tell me a Story about narrative and intelligence that I have been reading. It's the most thought provoking thing I have read in a long time, and some of the ideas flowing from his understanding of intellegence would go some of the way to explaining why the fiction of The Wire has more impact than a newspaper account. - Hilary Talbot
