A shocking amount of cheese goes into a cheese fondue
Jeanette stirs the cheddar and Emmenthaler swiss cheeses in the cheddar cheese fondue
We had four pots of cheese fondue, and still it wasn’t enough. Good thing it was just the appetizer.

Paul and his parents and brother Robbie toast FriendFeed’s first year
Jim, Bret, Casey, Sanjeev, Paul, Ana, Gary and Tudor on FriendFeed’s one year anniversary. In fact, the site really was launched on September 30th, 2007. At least that’s when the first official invitations went out. It’s just the John Markoff New York Times article that came out on October 1st. John Markoff... always influencing our launches!
During the meat fondue course, Paul needs to rest from so much eating. Maybe he’s also exhausted from arguing with me about who actually suggested that I come back from vacation early to work at FriendFeed. Luckily, the Gmail chat history does not lie.
I feel like I have a picture like this of Paul from every FriendFeed team dinner

Hey Ana, for those of us trying to make photo sharing easier, could you please say what part of the process took a long time, or what part was boring enough to make you procrastinate? - Bruce Lewis via fftogo
I had no idea Paul's head was removable - j1m
@Bruce: no no, this has nothing to do w/ the difficulty of photo sharing. It's just that I have too many backlogged photos that I need to organize and post online. I'm still working on pictures from April 2007... - Ana
@Bruce If you can make a low cost machine that can scan large batches of photos at once and then upload online and do some facial recognition so i don't have to sort them, you'd be my hero. :) - EricaJoy
Erica, I've heard there are services out there that you can send boxes of photos to for scanning. Picasa (not sure whether it's the desktop client or Web Albums) does facial recognition. Ana, thanks, your answer is helpful. - Bruce Lewis
@Bruce Sending away my precious memories is scary. That's why I want a special machine that I can buy. - EricaJoy
Erica, I don't know what to do for that. A negative scanner might work 5x as fast as a regular scanner, though. If I worked on the problem for 4 years I might come up with something. But as it happens I've spent 4 years on Ana's probem, and yes it actually is related to the difficulty of conventional photo sharing: http://friendfeed.com/e... - Bruce Lewis
Erica, I used a place located on El Camino in Los Altos, so I was able to simple drop off the photos in person: http://www.myspecialphotos.com/scannin... - Paul Buchheit
Erica: +1 for this myspecialphotos place. Cheapish and good, dependable service - Thaths
