Robert: yeah, I saw the post about Arrington not using FF3...what the heck does he use, then? FF2 has become unusable...Safari? Not IE...that would shatter my faith in you A-Listers... - Trent Olson
Would be nice to get an RSS feed of these summaries. - atzmon
Arrington is getting technically *slow* !!! Doesn't seem quite as tech savvy as he once was? hmm why? and he's STILL not in FriendFeed actively? c'mon Mike, the water is fine! Hey do you remember the Borg on StarTrek? "Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated." ;-) - Susan Beebe
I love how the top 4 "best" stories on my Friendfeed are about this new FriendFeed feature. Echo chamber. - Erick Schonfeld
Erick -- I noticed the same thing :-) - mathew ingram
Dont necessarily believe the stuff about Michael. He would have said that to upset the Mozilla people. He recommended it to me, I've seen him using it, and he's even written publicly that he uses it...indeed it was FF3 that made him switch from Flock. - Duncan Riley
@Duncan - ok that makes way more sense... I always had the *perception* that Arrington was an early adopter, so hearing he was on FF 2 didn't make sense. Thx! - Susan Beebe
See "Search for best 100 articles from the last day (or 2 days, 3 days...)" http://friendfeed.com/e/b4029e... using "num=100". I'm finding the 100-item search much more interesting than the regular 30-item search. - Mitchell Tsai

I see a motion picture in the making! "The Revenge of the Trolls" Starting Michael Arrington playing himself as a Flamming Troll. Will definitively win an Oscar! Ok, here is the plot. All the people who read his blog for years turn into Trolls and eat Michael Alive. LOL - Igor The Troll
I'm using Safari. and I love it. Where is the "Blame Arrington" script. Why does Scoble get all the love? I say we go medevil on all the Alist. Equal opportunity sodomy for all social pests. Twitter Killers. feed them to the dogs. - Noah David Simon
"Interestingness Filter"... Even if you put a total crap online Arrington their algorithm will still think that it's interesting. I know you won't even read what I'm writing (too "shy" to share with individuals of your kind?) but the fact is it doesn't filter on Interestingness, it does on popularity and this is VERY different. Hear me? Very different :) - directeur
A statement from Detroit Pistons general manager Joe Dumars: I wanted to say a few words about the Michigan Solution. No, not that travesty of justice. I'm talking about a fair, common-sense resolution of the Eastern Conference Finals." - John Bracken

How can you have any pudding if you don't eat yer kids? - Morton Fox
I'd feel left out if I didn't join the bandwagon on this one. I've never seen so many "Likes". Man I wish I'd been able to get my phone camera to work the morning I saw the plate that unintentionally said 490BEY. Andre the Giant would approve. - Kamilah Gill
"The pool of appealing men shrinks as many are married off and taken out of the game, leaving a disproportionate number of men who are notably imperfect (perhaps they are short, socially awkward, underemployed). And at the same time, you get a pool of women weighted toward the attractive, desirable "strong bidders."" - Jim Norris
Interesting theory. But I'd offer an alternative explanation: young, eligible bachelors are (by and large) not interested in dinner parties. - Tudor Bosman
Please, not wiki-like. Instead, thread like Reddit, then let commentary stand until any respondent clicks “Comment”, at when “Edit” disappears. For comments already in edit but not yet posted, warn respondents when they click “Comment” to respond, and allow the edit to continue and deny replies until the edit posts. When “Edit” already appears, clicking it checks the server to prevent a race condition. - John Lam
This simple state interaction ought work clearly enough for users to get quickly. I don't understand why no sites use it, instead of edit timeouts (such as Digg and Newsvine). (Apologies for jacking the subject. I also ran out of space for reply.) - John Lam
I like being able to edit/remove my comments permanently. - Chris White
John, checking on the 'edit' click wouldn't prevent all race conditions, just some. The whole comment threading and editing can of worms is a toughie. There are clearly features that make sense individually and can easily be added, but there's no simple line delineating commenting system from a full fledged message board. There's a good middle ground to be had, but I don't think people will ever agree on it. Those who want a feature are far more aware of their desire than those who value the simplicity of the feature's absence. - Kevin Fox
One of my favorite bits: "An Obama Presidency may approach both government bureaucracy and obstacles to Obama’s policy prescriptions the same way the Obama campaign has come to dominate caucuses against the Hillary Clinton campaign: provide supporters (and citizens) in depth information on how to team up and then explain to them the steps they have to take to prevail." - Ana
My original remote key had the word "dumb" in it. It made me smile, but I reset it anyway :) PS: Oops, after another reset of the key I get the first error: it says "502 Bad Gateway ... nginx/0.6.24" (at https://friendfeed.com/account...) PPS: Now it works again. - Philipp Lenssen
Congrats! Please clarify - what is the maximum number of entries returned per fetch? - Aviv
100 entries is the current maximum. We would prefer applications request the default number (30) unless there is a compelling reason to request more. - Bret Taylor
Wow, amazing how fast you guys get stuff done. - Ryan W
Love it. If only all APIs would come with a pre-wrapped PHP class. Why does the PHP class not precede functions with public or private by the way? - Philipp Lenssen
You guys rock! I have a few ideas for extending and improving, though with how fast you all iterate I'm afraid my ideas are going to clash with your roadmap. - Clint
Bret's news knocked my news off of the top of Techmeme today. It's on! - DeWitt Clinton
Bret, just out of curiosity: on what technology stack the FF is built? - Dmitriy Kopylenko
@Dmitriy: I believe the site is written in Python. No clue about database, server, or anything else. But I thought I'd answer with what I know (er, think I know ;-). - Voyagerfan5761
Pretty sure it's MySQL, I think I've seen them talk about it before, and they are definitely using nginx as a frontend - Benjamin Golub
I remember seeing some nginx (http server) errors a few days after they launched (edit: oops, just saw Benjamin's reference to nginx) - Aviv
@Voyagerfan Thanks. Would be interesting to know if it's Django or just vanilla Python - Dmitriy Kopylenko
Not Django, I asked that question a while back (when FF first opened up in beta). It is their own Python framework - Benjamin Golub
Thanks Benjamin. Is there any reason to "roll your own", here? - Dmitriy Kopylenko
I'm glad you posted a link for us non-techies so we could find out what the heck an API is/does! I'm excited to see what developers will come up with....I'm crossing my fingers for friendfeed mobile so I can easily use FF on my blackberry. - Emily Miller
I really enjoyed the Python API. I have just added FF support to http://eventseer.net, an academic event tracker written in Django... Allows you to share the conferences and people you're keeping track of on FF. Thanks! - Thomas Brox Røst
IMO there's overhead to a framework both in learning, radical customization, and speed. Django is cool when it fits the model of what you're building, but sometimes it's just easier to roll your own. One concrete example is I would prefer to use SQL directly rather than use the model stuff, which is great when it works, but painful when your database gets complicated. Just my experience, others will be different. - Chris White
Agree with Emily Miller. FriendFeed mobile! I can read FriendFeed on mobile, but can't like or comment anything. - Ontario Emperor
@emilymiller: if your phone supports IM you can use the jabber buddy friendfeed@imified.com to post comments to FF. We're still looking for some feedback on what other IM integrations make sense and are open to some feedback - Anthony Webb
Yes, when you have to write custom SQL, the benefits of a framework start to fade away. - Benjamin Golub
"“We didn’t win the nomination, but I have organized my sock drawer and I’ve done a lot of gardening projects,” said Mr. Davis, who lives in Washington but spent many weeks in Iowa and in New Hampshire." - Nelson Cheng
Well, I don't "like like" this, but I thought it was a really interesting article... - Ana
