Dear FriendFeed, please start importing tags from every service that has them. Del.icio.us, flickr, vimeo, maybe even twitter's funny #tags? Also, a tagcloud would be awesome.
Indeed! - Kevin Fox
Where do you put them? - Johnny
For instance, make them hidden by default. If a user enables them, put them... let's say, right of the "edit" button? - Goran Zec
Or wherever the designers decide is best, I have full confidence in them. It's just a feature that's really nice to have and everything is better with a tagcloud. - Goran Zec
Agreed :D - Johnny
i would add separation of comments and "comments".. i would call "comments" descriptions as they are usually automatically imported from different rss feeds.. comments are comments ;) + please fix the descriptions from diigo.com.. delicious is not the only bookmark manager... - marcell mars
Yes, cumulative public tag-clouds, and private tag-soups(?). Sortable, searchable and overviewable. - ianf ⌘
Just add them as a single comment, e.g. #ff #usability #feedback, search does the rest - Thomas Amberg
How do you force search to take "#" into account? As far as I can tell, search for both #data and "#data" (even \#data) gives you all the entries which mention "data", disregarding hash. - Goran Zec
their's tokenizer probably indexes just letters a-z, it's quote easy for them to add # as valid letter into it so you will be able to search over # - Dobrica Pavlinusic
It's a tricky one because too many tagging implementations are inhumane (though Twitter's # trick is a neat one), but I agree FF needs to crack tagging in some way. I also dislike the practice of importing descriptions as comments. - Uche Ogbuji
It's easy to just add #tag as a comment, but you would probably want to see only the tags you add yourself. My solution is to keep a private room, and reshare important posts into that room, and add comment tags there. - ˈpɛbə
Why do you need tags? Surely a saved search will suffice? - Keith Bennett from BuddyFeed
A piece of string tied to a stick would also suffice - and yet, men have invented the Internet. But seriously, search is not even close. Tags are a conscious attempt at classification. People rarely use categories in a systematic and consistent way when discussing a link. - Goran Zec
Put surely that assumes that people use tagging in the same way as you do? People will always tag stuff differently. I'm not trying to invoke a pro or against argument, I just don't see how tagging will benefit all people on FF. - Keith Bennett
Please implement tagging option, import of tags and global + private tag clouds. Its something i really miss on FF. It's a good way to find and filter content. - Anandasama
Blogger has categories/tags in their feed (http://ff.im/1ZL1I and http://ff.im/4fxjB) - Chris Myles
I miss even a way to filter my own content with for example tags. it would be very convenient. And friends that see my cloud tag may snap up on some keyword and click it to find more info - Anandasama
tag cloud - of course - live ! ...... trending words cloud - live ..... search term subcloud - live ...... update to ianf ..true, cumulative - regular - clouds are important .. live cloud is a snapshot of the current moment - pb:
Actually, there'd need to be 3 different types of tagclouds in FF: a global, large-but-finite-size of most frequent keywords; a cumulative personal one for each one of us; and per-group ones as well. That, and tools to weight/ compare them all in realtime to observe where current public interest meshes with personal one. - ianf ⌘
