Hi, I'm new to this page but I just purchased a HTC Hero and was looking for a FriendFeed application but I couldn't find anything and then I did some research and came across your program and got relly excited but then realised the date of the posting which was June 28th, you still due to release or given up hope?
I've been doing a lot of thinking on the design of this.. haven't really came up with a decent design implementation.. but then I saw this: http://www.youtube.com/watch... - What do you guys think?
- Tim Hoeck
Tim - will it share sites via the menu>more>share tabs in the Android browser?
- Matthew DeVries
Matthew.. I'm working on that part :P Lots of stuff to get in here..
- Tim Hoeck
from AndFeed
I'm very curious to see how this turns out. It's looking great so far, just based off of what I'm seeing in the pics.
- Jon, the Beartato of FF
I'd be interested in beta testing also. Would be interesting to see intents published from andfeed to other apps, as others have stated. E.G. it would be obvious to have the 'share in..' itent (ala Beelicious/Email/SMS).
- Eric Sinclair
Eric, if you have thoughts on what should be provided, let me know.
- Tim Hoeck
A thought from the pictures, I might prefer having the bottom icons appear when pressing menu rather than always using screen real estate. Looking forward to a beta/release/whatever.
- DMKrow
where can i download this? its not in the market?
- AhronZombi
Yes, I eagerly await using this. I hope development hasn't slowed because of the FB purchase.
- Andy Bakun
No Andy, I will definitely still be releasing this, most likely in the coming weeks. Development slowed because a) I converted to v2 of the api, b) I moved last week :) and c) I have to hustle on finishing my ADC2 entry, which I only have about 10 more days to do, and I am only one person working on this
- Tim Hoeck
Hi Guys, I apologize I haven't been able to work on AndFeed as much as I wanted to. However, I have been incorporating v2 of the API, and refining some things. I am working on making realtime work seamlessly with a standard entry list, and I have moved options to a long click menu..so progress is being made, albeit slower than I would like. Work and personal life has been busy lately.
- Tim Hoeck
http://timhoeck.com/files... - Consider this a "Pre" beta.. I am working on a number of things, and I'll list them so we know what not to report.. really though at this point, I want to know one thing. Is this the layout you want for a FriendFeed app, or do you want something else?
- Tim Hoeck
At this point I have "most" of the features in. I still have a lot to work on for realtime updating, but I want to know if this is the 'view' or 'look' that you want out of a FF app. Particularly down the road with real-time... it will be too frustrating reading an entry, only for it to get bumped off your screen. We could implement a pause button like the FF page, but I think that defeats the purpose.
- Tim Hoeck
My particular concerns with a list style, scrolling view of FF is balancing what to show on the screen, and what options to give, vs. usability. I don't want comments on a list of entries, because it makes a list way too long. I don't particularly want buttons on each entry, but long clicking is too frustrating... so give me your thoughts, suggestions, concerns... and I'll work with them.
- Tim Hoeck
So on to known things with this beta: I would recommend for now to only use wifi (however, I use it fairly ok on edge).. I'll be working more on streamlining downloads to a minimum. If you find something broken, I probably know about it :) Uploading pictures doesn't work, landscape is a little goofy, there are no real "updates", so if you comment, like, etc.. you won't see the change...

Hey Tim, great start. As it turns out, I'd been writing a FriendFeed-on-Android app too (just for grins and giggles), and I'd approached it from a very minimalistic UI standpoint --- my penchant for doing everything in emacs or a unix-shell dominates :). Given that bias, I found the current incarnation of AndFeed *very* busy. Each list item had so much going on, that I had to actually...

Tim, do you want comments here, email, or do you have a ticket tool set up?
- Eric Sinclair
here is fine for now, Eric. I really want to hear how people want this to work.. I know most of the bugs and such (which are being worked out now)
- Tim Hoeck
Great app, much nicer than reading it in the browser. But I read ff mostly for the comments, so for me it would be much better if the comments just appeared by default.
- j1m
Doing more work with realtime, working a bit on some UI (the buttons).. still looking to get an update out this weekend. The buttons are visible/hidden from the menu button right now, but I might make it a double-tap or something.
- Tim Hoeck
I've also been having difficulties posting via landscape mode. The program force closes.
- Jon, the Beartato of FF
Definitely going to play with this program some more, but sleep beckons. Me like so far. :)
- Jon, the Beartato of FF
Thanks Jonathan, an update will be available around the end of this week. The two posts is because the API does not have the ability currently to post to multiple rooms, so it is a workaround. The API 'should' be updated sometime soon, and I am guessing that ability will be included. The landscape mode issues are being corrected, and will work in the next version.
- Tim Hoeck
Sweetness. Like I said, so far it's looking pretty good! Can't wait to keep messing around with it.
- Jon, the Beartato of FF
This is what realtime looks like in its current incarnation.. I thought about doing regular viewing something like this... maybe a swipe left/right to view previous/next entry.
- Tim Hoeck
Thanks, to everyone for checking this out. I would have followed up last night, but had an unfun time with other matters (http://ff.im/4DThB). I have a feeling (as mentioned before) the UI for individual entries is too busy.. this is what I am looking to avoid, but I need some input. Obviously, some people will not like the fact that you can't see the opening/closing comments, others will not like buttons, and so on... I need that balance somewhere in between functionality and usability. Again, I'm open to suggestions on how you guys would like to see it work.
