"Beautifully written. I won't say I grew up in poverty, but money was tight in my younger years until my father advanced in his military career. I remember longing for those Jordache and Keds and never getting it. I also remember those lists and learning about prioritization, "which item do you want to get out of lay-way first..." Once I started my adult life and began working, I too very quickly exceeded my parents income and I learned to never take it for granted. I have a much more luxurious lifestyle than my parents do, but it allows me to donate to charities and give money and gifts to those in need in my life, and I am happy to have the little extra to do that, but I will never, ever forget my roots and the struggle my parents and grandparents have, never...."
