biggest sign that after after more than 2 years I still don't get twitter, and nowadays I don't really care if I ever will: I'm unfollowing everyone on it.
Done! - Adrian Scicluna
So why make such a big deal out of posting about it? - Andrew Badera
LOL - Mona Nomura from iPhone
Ever tried deleting 400+ people from twitter, one after the other? slow boring stuff. your mind starts to wander, you end up writing about it! - Adrian Scicluna
You know what's funny though? 338 people are still following me. So it's not all about auto-followers out there! - Adrian Scicluna
As a matter of fact yeah, I once reduced from 2000ish to <1000. But if you're simply unfollowing "everyone," most people would use one of those freely available tools to do that instantly and automagically. And, what do auto-followers have to do with your following count at this point? Auto-follow spam crap works on an hourly or daily basis. Over time, they've either come to ignore an... more... - Andrew Badera
LOL!! Erm, Andrew? Just keep in touch over here, deal? :) - Adrian Scicluna
Unfortunately I decided a while back, and made it "official" a month or two ago now, I'm pretty much done with FriendFeed. I get better/more meaningful/worthwhile interactions out of either, or a combination of, Twitter and/or Facebook. I only come here to respond to posts worth responding to that I see elsewhere, or when someone replies to one of the items still coming here through my various feeds. - Andrew Badera
OH. That's a shame. - Adrian Scicluna
Wow Sean, pointless ass much? WTF is your problem, douche? - Andrew Badera
Ok, so let me understand this. Ade is tired of Twitter. Andrew replied to point out that posting about unfollowing people on Twitter is not interesting. Then, he casually mentions how many people HE unfollowed on Twitter in the past, and oh, he doesn't use FriendFeed anymore either. Ade, the way I see it, you got played by a master. - Phil G
Phil, as much as I love being labelled a master, I'm not sure I follow your reasoning. Also, I never said anything about posting about unfollowing on Twitter, I referred to posting about not caring about Twitter, but then posting that you've unfollowed a lot of people, is kind of pointless, or at least ironic. - Andrew Badera
You'll also note Phil that I noted two exceptions to my non-use of FF: replying to posts I see elsewhere (in this case, Twitter) and to reply to comments people leave on posts of mine that end up here still due to automated feeds I haven't disconnected. - Andrew Badera
Uhm not really. People post on here as a sort of affirmation about anything that comes to their mind. I was just saying what I was doing, and why. As a matter of fact I was surprised that I DID get some reaction; something which rarely happens on my posts! - Adrian Scicluna
I don't see Ade's post as pointless. I see it as him noting something he has decided on. People do that all the time. And it would only be ironic if he posted the initial statement to Twitter instead of FriendFeed. However, I see your defense of your initial irritation at Abe's post by highlighting just how many people you have un-followed on various services to be somewhat hypocritical. I will allow that you had to tell Abe you don't read FF any more since he did ask. - Phil G
Ade, that's fine, you have your opinion, and I mine. Thus the nature of social networking/social media! - Andrew Badera
Phil, I wouldn't label my emotional state as irritated, but if I came across that way, it was accidental. I just thought it ironic, in the truest nature of the word -- folly of human nature. - Andrew Badera
Uhm.. It's Ade, with a reverse-'b', otherwise known as a d... :) - Adrian Scicluna
Oh and Phil, one should note, I only saw this post ON Twitter to begin with, thus the sense of irony :) - Andrew Badera
Ade- sorry, fixed. Andrew- you did? Well, that's a bit ironic then. - Phil G
Now tell me how we could have had this chat over on twitter. ;) - Adrian Scicluna
I'm not saying FriendFeed is useless, I've had a lot of fun using it, and e-met or got more familiar with people like Phil via FriendFeed's early days. I just don't like the realtime format it has moved to -- I simply tend to have more/better conversations with people in my Facebook network over postings there than I do on FriendFeed. Twitter is a different beast, but you can still have lengthy conversations over it. - Andrew Badera
