Welcome Baby Ryan!!! My baby Ryan (17 years!) and I are honored to welcome another superstar to our planet! Love, hugs, and lots of kisses to Baby Ryan, Mommy Maryam, Dad Robert and big brothers Milan & Patrick and of course Grandma!!! My guess on Ryan's arrival (predication) was only 23 hours off. I thought he would arrive on Friday, Sept. 18th at 11:45 pm. Love to all, Kelly & Ryan Kim

What a moment, eh? I remember when my daughter came into this world, it was so exciting there were no words for it. Congrats on your wonderful baby boy!

Congratulations! Welcome to the world, Ryan. :-)

Congratulations Robert and Maryam! And welcome Ryan. If I was having a baby today, I'd begin a blog for him/her straight away as an online diary they could look back on when grown up.

Leadership means taking risks, calculated or otherwise, and being willing to either fail or succeed, but to learn in any case. For many, social media's risky--and that's exactly why you may find leaders here.

@James, no its part of being a leader. empowering others !

Michele, there were lots of leaders who didn't listen, but they still lead. They should've, but they didn't.
- Ton Zijp
@LPH - hey yeah traits are better, after all Hitler was a leader too !! let not forget that .. likewise Pol Pot, Stalin and a host of others.. there is the dark side of leadership too !

Leadership is about being genuine, and enabling others to achieve their full potential with your guidance. It's the capability to deliver and achieve while compelling others to do so as well.

Nicholas: but maybe Zuckerberg is being lead too (not that I totally agree with what I'm saying myself, but I like questions ;-)).
- Ton Zijp
A genuine person without a victory will not be followed

When two Domino’s Pizza employees filmed a prank in the restaurant’s kitchen, they decided to post it online. In a few days, thanks to the power of social media, they ended up with felony charges, more than a million disgusted viewers, and a major company facing a public relations crisis. In videos posted on YouTube and elsewhere this week, a Domino’s employee in Conover, N.C., prepared sandwiches for delivery while putting cheese up his nose, nasal mucus on the sandwiches, and violating other health-code standards while a fellow employee provided narration. The two were charged with delivering prohibited foods. By Wednesday afternoon, the video had been viewed more than a million times on YouTube. References to it were in five of the 12 results on the first page of Google search for “Dominos,” and discussions about Domino’s had spread throughout Twitter."

Customers are not the only source of bad buzz for the brands...
- Aurélien
I bet this seemed like a good idea at the time. What idiots.
- Kreg Steppe
criminal arrests and now a civil lawsuit. Not smart.
- Thomas Hawk
You can mess up your life and your brand very quickly online. Glad these two people aren't making food anymore.
- Robert Scoble
I've only ordered pizza delivery from Domino's once in my life. Never did that again because if I'm at home, I might as well cook something.
- Morton Fox
Such an endemic problem in the fast food business: young people, first job, bad management, insufficient training. Add in social media and you have quite an explosive dynamic. What should/could Domino's corporate do?
- Francine Hardaway
Vile. I'm so glad I don't order from Domino's right now. *adds this story to the why you need to monitor your social media presence even if you don't have one on purpose file*
- Leslie Poston
Yes in the viral webs it's a lot harder to quietly fire idiots like this. Dominos needs to a) do it publicly, and b) launch a whole "see how clean we are campaign".
- Ryan Stanley
This is why I link to the conversation @dsilverman -- in this case the conversation here is just as interesting as the news item. Also, this is why you need to hire smart people if they are going to post stuff online. You no longer have any control of our employees and whether or not they talk with the public. So you better hire well and train them for the new PR world.
- Robert Scoble
...but it makes me wonder about the food "security" of ALL restaurants. you think Domino's is the only food chain with sketchy employees? This is the best argument I've seen for cooking at home. Hello Food Network.
- Landor Associates
I think Domino's did as well as they could handling this. They seemed to get on it pretty early. I'm not sure that there is much else that they can do. I don't eat Dominos pizza generally speaking, but this video wouldn't keep me away from it. This could happen to any company. Remember when that woman faked the finger in the chilli at Wendy's?
- Thomas Hawk
I stopped going to the local Burger King because of racism. I also stopped going to the local Taco Bell because the manager yelled at me. I'm not even going to speculate on what they've been putting in my food. Fast food chains really don't have much control over their employees beyond firing them when something bad comes to light.
- Morton Fox
It was disgusting. A lot of damage control to do with the credibility of employees under scrutiny.
- Kannan
Looks like they weren't able to avoid the Noid.
- Rob
Domino's fiasco also about video camera/phone in workplace? Many folks are not allowed. I think we will see a growth in corporations taking cell phones @ the door similar to schools.
- Catholic Meme
Problem is we never know about this kind of stuff until after the fact. And the brands are at the mercy of franchise managers and the potential psychos they may have hired. Could be *any* food service provider.
- Ryan Stanley
@Shevonne: I think they did it because they thought it was funny...
- Landor Associates
that's all well & fine, but I can't remember the last time I ate Domino's on purpose... they're like pretty much last on my list of pizza options
- Krikit Media
This will also force more businesses onto social networks. If I worked at a large brand with millions of customers I would have teams online that would work just to make sure that if something like this does happen that there wold be people to answer it.
- Robert Scoble
I don't think it's wise to assume such acts are rampant across fast food chains and yes having an online team for such large organizations is a must. So how do you think they handled the situation ? what could they have done better ?
- Mayank Dhingra
Trust is a big issue. Over the years we've placed a lot of trust in others who prepare our food. Anyone remember when Julia Child accidentally dropped a chicken on the kitchen floor, placed it back on the platter and chortled "no one will ever know."
- J.D. Deutschendorf
Robert is right, all these exposes seem to be happening via social media, yet businesses still have to rely on traditional media for their damage limitation.
- Iain Baker
Iain: businesses have no clue anymore how stories are built. The quotes from the Domino people demonstrate that. They assume that bloggers or Twitterers with 15 followers don't have any power. I know they do.
- Robert Scoble
Iain: when I quit Microsoft I told 15 people and in three days had millions of media impressions, according to Microsoft's PR firm. 15 people can DESTROY a brand, if they have something like these videos in their hands.
- Robert Scoble
Wow, this is a great example on so many fronts. Think before you act, Think before you POST (most certainly)... and Aurélien makes a great point about customers not being the only source for publicity with Robert really fleshing out some of the reasons why. AND this is why I love FF... so many great comments describing varying facets and the ripple-effect this type of medium now offers.
- Ken Stewart | ChangeForge
@Chris White. Zachry's does make damn good pizza. it's also a coop with a majority of the business owned by it's employees. I'd think employees would have a strong incentive to make sure that this sort of thing would never happen there. Their Mediterranean pizza is amazing.
- Thomas Hawk
Robert: Absolutely. We're going to see more of this sort of thing happening, can't understand why firms aren't preparing strategies to deal with it.
- Iain Baker
Iain: most businesses think this stuff is unimportant because it seems "small." Businesses are committees. Ask 100 people whether the New York Times is important. You'll hear 99 yesses. Ask them whether some Twitterer with 15 followers is important. You'll probably hear 87 nos.
- Robert Scoble
Hmmmm, I don't think it's a question of making social Media important, it's about recognising that information and news, good or bad, flows freely along whatever channel it can find.
- Iain Baker
What a silly couple. Didn't they know they were getting into trouble? Or maybe they wanted trouble and attract attention to something... uhhmm... I wouldn't be surprised if we see these two running their own show on MTV.
- Alexis Bellido
I wonder how much this really "damaged" their brand. They don't make very good food. They are a bottom-rung fast food joint. How much do people really expect from them to begin with?
- Jeremy Brooks
@Chris White: If you are close enough to get Zachary's, you are close enough to get a real pizza from Lanesplitter. ;-)
- Jeremy Brooks
There are already tons of people working on behalf of their companies here. I think the tipping point for me will be when I see Jon Stewart mocking the talking heads about being in a "kerfuffle" over FriendFeed.
- Mitch
Personally, I like it more when experts of a given subject gather around that subject. Be it the LOLCAT talk way :)
- directeur
The tipping point for FF is when CNN and other media outlets use the FF service to expand their own reach; through self-interest they will use FF.
- LPH™ and his dog P™
We (pitchengine) have been enabling brands to engage on Twitter in a more conversational manner. We're considering ways to integrate FF, but quite honestly, it takes a different level of sm understanding and I don't think marketers are there yet.
- Jason Kintzler
What??? You mean Robert Scoble doesn't count as a celebrity????
- Lindsay
When I overhear the local weather person directing me to his/her FF page like I've heard with Twitter and Facebook recently.
- Tony Miller
Balderdash! Did Google get there via celebrities? Or AOL? Or Facebook? Or WordPress? Or any number of other sites. Just because Twitter brought celebrities to the forefront doesn't mean that every new site must have celebrities to reach critical mass.
- AJ Kohn
The other thing FriendFeed needs is better mobile support - SMS at the very least. Celebrities understand that. I'm not saying I want it, but for them to hit that point, that's what they need.
- Jesse Stay
Lindsay: I am only a celebrity with 18 geeks.
- Robert Scoble
It will probably happen on Monday when the new UI is rolled out. Look out for fail whale sightings to come as a result.
- Scoble, Alex Scoble
from fftogo
I'm not sure. FriendFeed really isn't a 'broadcast' platform. Those who are 'successful' are those who interact :D
- Johnny
Alex, I hope the new UI is as good as the expectations.
- LPH™ and his dog P™
FF definitely isn't as user friendly when compared to twitter. It doesn't have the same "mainstream" appeal, more of a niche appeal.
- David Spinks
What do you mean David that FF isn't user friendly. Is it easier to just shout into the wild (twitter) or have a conversation requiring listening (reading) what others have to say? Or did you mean something else?
- LPH™ and his dog P™
Adding facebook status updates and replys may push them over the edge.
- Brian Kenyon
I'm not a celebrity. No one is sending me free tequila for a PR stunt.
- Scoble, Alex Scoble
Wil Wheaton (aka weasley crusher) is on here :)
- Roberto Bonini
Wil Wheaton's Twitter and Flickr are imported here, but he has no comments or Likes. I don't think you can really call that "on here."
- Ken Sheppardson
Maybe I don't want FriendFeed to have a tipping point then. I don't know what celebrities would add to the conversation. I'd rather have all "experts on the sidelines" here, and even better, experts NOT on the sidelines but actually up high in business and government. John McCain, hold your next "town hall meetings" here!
- Meryn Stol
Not that Mccain would. He doesn't understand the internet. But I sure would like to see representation from political parties here.
- Meryn Stol
How significant will text messaging be? Twitter has the 140-character limit because of that, FriendFeed doesn't. Though I hear too many complaints from Twitter users, saying that the FriendFeed interface just isn't as friendly - maybe this will change tomorrow.
- Colin Charles
from twhirl
My theory on this: Most celeb's have been texting for years. They've mastered the160 char format and Twitter is a natural fit for them. FF feels more like a discussion forum and most celeb's aren't used to that format.
- Mike Doeff
"celebrities" are not a monolithic group. It will click for some based in part on their personality and part on the fluidity with which they find it a useful curatorial and communications venue. My judgment will be based on creativity, level of interesting info contributed, and authenticity of conversations with whomever comes. I won't hold their celebrity-ness against them, and it's no free pass either.
- Micah
Well one measure of "success" for friendfeed is that spamming has started.
- Scoble, Alex Scoble
First, FF needs to change their recommend list. New members only see tech people.
- LPH™ and his dog P™
LPH: I have an account with only Iranians on it. Friendfeed does not recommend tech people there. The recommended list is based on who you follow and who they follow.
- Robert Scoble
Robert, has this changed recently? I recall signing up and only tech people being available on the recommend list. As time went, and I subscribed to different people, then the tech people recommendations decreased.
- LPH™ and his dog P™
Robert, you *what*? You've just been added to a few anti-terror watchlists I think. ;) I bet you gonna tell me next that you can actually read and write Iranian. That would make you really suspect! ;)
- Meryn Stol
I felt the same thing about Twitter a year ago.
- Jamie
yea I thought the same thing....the trick is making it so twitter can still be popular. Friendfeed will just be the method that I use to access Twitter. Friendfeed needs to be able to post/get info from all of my networks seemlessly, that way I don't have to ever go on Twitter.com
- Jason Stephens
Why do we want Twitter and FF to be popular? I'd rather they stay a bit underground. Celebrity on the Internet doesn't mean the same thing to me. I get a lot more useful info out of non-celebrities.
- Dave Sanders
coming soon; demi uses FF to rescue timmy from well. too bad lassie can't tweet

of course. by no means am I happy that people will be out of jobs. but i really am happy beyond belief that the horrific monstrosities will be gone.

Knock-offs are made because ogs sell. If the OGs are no longer produced - so long knock-offs! It's only a matter of time until they become EXTINCT. Thank god!!! Tamara - Bluetooth headsets ;)
- Mona Nomura
As many people as I see wearing them, this is surprising news. Awesome news, but surprising.
- Sarah Perez
oh no... will there now be a whole secondary market for these things? collectors and croc junkies paying obscene money for the dwindling supply?? Maybe I'll stock up on them now. ;)
- felix
AND with flip-flops, there's COMPLETE foot exposure going on so people tend to take care of their feet!
- Mona Nomura

my kids love their crocs. I love mine. and they are cute sandles. not ugly.
- Erin @queenofspain
Swiss cheese for feet = DO NOT WANT
- Mona Nomura
from IM
A) We're not going out of business. B) we have other stuff that aren't the "ugly" iconic shoes everyone knows and c) Losing my job wouldn't be the best news ever. :-p Seriously though - if people talked about our OTHER shoes, maybe we can move on from the comfort but ugly talk into just comfortable and EVERYONE will be happy.....
- George Smith
Erin - those look like logger women shoes.
- Mona Nomura
from IM
Best story ever - when I was interviewed at Crocs, they asked me what I thought of the company. I said I was impressed with their growth but, and I quote "I'm from New York - You'll never see me wearing those ugly shoes." I was hired immediately. I wear Crocs daily - not the iconic ones - but all our other shoes. I don't like some stuff we do, hate others, and am completely passionate about the ones I love. We're not just a one shoe company! ;-)
- George Smith
Whoa. EDIT: +10 George. Good to see you're up and working.
- Derrick
No problem. I figured I'd correct you because I knew you'd listen and you're also always online. ha. We are making some cool stuff and I always want to hear what other people WANT. I mean - our consumers are "people with feet." If you don't like what we do, tell us what you want and let us try. Comfort doesn't have to come in swiss cheese shoes. lol
- George Smith
hahahha but props to you for being up on your game!
- Mona Nomura
from IM
Hey - the reason I know you're always online is that I'm always online. That and My patented crocs spidey sense.
- George Smith
Mona, not saying you are one, but the fact someone went to the trouble of writing a definition for "croc-o-phobe" says something about the croc wars. http://shoeblogs.com/2007... :)
- Micah
Major props to you George, for being up on your social media game. You epitomize a 'good' community manager. ;) Though I still hate those shoes hahahaha ;)
- Mona Nomura
Hey - I don't own a pair with holes. I wear these: http://bit.ly/OzTKG or our Flip Flops religiously. I would probably quit if they made me wear the ones with holes on them. I may love working for Crocs, but I like being the real me a lot more.
- George Smith
Didn't Crocs acquire Bite Shoes (the running sandals company)? Glad they're not going out of business.
- Andrew C (✓)
Well I'm going against the grain here and have to say for a long time I was a croc mocker but I had a change of heart when I wore my mates pair fishing on my boat. Yes they look bad and the bright colours suck but talk about the best shoe for walking in the water fishing and grippies shoe for fishing on the boat. For me a sad day to all you hates please spare a though for me when my fishing crocs wear out where do I turn what do I wear suggestion are welcome. 8(
- John Spencer
from BuddyFeed
@Andrew - yeah we did acquire Bite (they did golf shoes and running sandals). Here's an initial example of the golf shoes: http://bit.ly/BiteisnowCrocs
- George Smith
Jason hahahha. Chia pets are 10+ years and still going strong. But you are FUNNY.
- Mona Nomura
It becomes other people's concerns when WAY too many people that don't take care of their feet expose it for COMFORT. Plus, Crocs colors are atrocious. It's criminal, unless you do it right (like Erin's daughter)
- Mona Nomura
but i just saw earlier a pic of a new line of crocs and they looked good :(
- chaz2b
Relax, they're not going out of business! This was a rumor that was squashed :)
- Mona Nomura
It's true that some of the colors are way off, i only buy black ones & they're cool
- Majento
I don't think they will ever go away. Just because you are all hating on them doesn't change the fact that they rock. And wall mart will always sell knock off crocs because they can make a killing. Parents love crocs for kids. If Crocs need to reorg to get past relying on debt to operate so be it.
- Christian Burns
Lol - I'm so far behind this week!! Glad to see George already dropped by and squashed the rumor - after Crocs saved my feet in Austin @ SxSW (thanks to George) I'm a die-hard fan - and no, not of the old-style Mickey Mouse shoes - but of the cute ones I wore all over down there that no one would've known were crocs except I couldn't help telling everyone! :)
- Lucretia Pruitt
I was a "croc-hater" too for awhile. My kids absolutely love them. Personally, I own Nike, Adidas, Prada, Tommy Bahama and Croc flip-flops (normal looking) and the Crocs are by far the most comfortable.
- Adam Rogers
I'm with Adam. I don't wear them myself, but my daughter loves them. And if she loves them and can put them on herself (she's 3), they're winners in my book.
- Jen (SquirrelGirl)
And like someone above said - they're not going away. There are too many knock-offs for the style to go away.
- Jen (SquirrelGirl)
heh. at the horrific prices they charge for original Crocs, I went and shamelessly bought knock-offs at roughly 10% of the price - a whole rainbow collection. my feet love them when I go malling. I save my original Hush Puppies for the times I need to put up an "image" for other people. =)
- Starshadow Rivaulx
My kids love them. I do not. To each, their own.
- Martha
*yawn* -- deeply appreciative of your work louis; however, it's all make believe and always has been make believe; so as i blustered earlier http://tr.im/cok9 it's the PROCESS that is broken. the entire silicon valley vc community is one big Social Network Poster Child for Group Think Cronyism. i doubt Jeffrey Skilling used the words "get it" vs "don't get it" more than the Sand Hill lot. #broken#fail
- michael silverton
Allen, we can do point/counterpoint any time. But I bet you end up being the "counter" more than I do.
- Louis Gray
Okay. So you did point counterpoint. But what you said at the end of your first post, "but at the end of the day, I would be investing", gives away which is your real post and which is your post playing devil's advocate.
- Gregg H.
im always the counter, never the countee
- Allen Stern
That said, Gregg, I said in the first that I would ask many questions, and in the second that one should exercise extreme caution. Of course, it'd be wonderful in the first place to have enough cash to be courted.
- Louis Gray
Two drafts? Louis, you know we love you but I think you've done a Scoble overdose or something .... Can't wait to see how this plays out if you leave them both up. (Pretty weird stuff coming from you?!).
- Charlie Anzman
Don't you get it folks? This is what happens to people who have twins ;~)
- Ed Shahzade /NextInstinct
Louis, haven't had time yet, but if it says what I think, remember; they're not investing for 'today'.
- Ed Shahzade /NextInstinct
Charlie, both posts are staying up. There is a definite case to be made for both sides. I want Twitter, FriendFeed and others to succeed, and I am always biased and bullish in favor of the tech sector. That said, I think now is a hard time for anybody to raise money and get strong value.
- Louis Gray
And Ed... the twins are a major reason why I've been "quiet" this weekend. Had them practically all day yesterday and most of today. (Including now) I had a break from 6-7 so ... back to back.
- Louis Gray
Louis, you can ask the questions. But Twitter won't have any good answers. And to all those wondering about Twitter's super secret plan for a business model. Sorry to kill the mystery, but there is no secret plan. It's advertising, gobs and gobs of advertising, with a healthy dose of data mining sold to marketers.
- Gregg H.
I can understand Louis. I often had my 1st 2 like that when they were infant and 2. Different needs, but non stop, and not sleepers. What I'd give to go back for 1 day...
- Ed Shahzade /NextInstinct
Still think you should have given Matthew and Sarah the byline for the second piece ... By the way http://friendfeed.com/e... Good week my friend ....
- Charlie Anzman
I'd counter that. There's no way it's NOT worth $250mm
- Bob Walsh
in many respects, twitter is perhaps akin to an application-layer arpanet: it's Too Useful and Promising to Die. in addition to w/e other sugary glaze attributed to it, it's also become a public utility, a substrate for extended, augmented social cognition. there are all kinds of vitally positive & powerful human and technological advances that the market would gleefully earmark for infanticide. i understand the anomie & existential angst of the industrial capitalist vc's; i just have no compassion for it.
- michael silverton
@Greggish: Inside info there? If that's the case ... Twitter is going nowhere fast. SocNet CPMs are abysmal, major CPGs (aka Clorox) don't want to purchase in the space and most CMOs are sick of Web 2.0 (and yes, that matters since they have the purse strings.) If I were a potential investor I'd tell Twitter to launch the alpha/beta version of ads so I could see the trajectory. That Twitter doesn't do this ... speaks volumes IMO.
- AJ Kohn
@louisgray can't go wrong here - and I agree that Twitter is more useful than Google on breaking news.
- Mike Reynolds
Part 1 (#1-17) of awesome list. Some cute ones I'm looking to try are... (11.4) Sticky Search (11.7) TinyURL Resolver, and (23) Fluid. (9.1) Hao's Better FriendFeed Recommended looks cool. (11.12) FriendFeed Grid has bigger pictures of random FriendFeed people. (21) Jimmy's article finally pushed me to add FriendFeed to my blogs with Javascript.
- Mitchell Tsai
NOTE: I'm adding correct links as I find them (and sub-links to interesting items on linked pages). Tons of bad links in the original article (4/13 of links were bad so far). Jimmy needs to test his article posts. Discussion at Mike Fruchter (51 likes, 13 comments) http://friendfeed.com/e...

(11.17) Who are you? 0.4 http://labs.internetducttape.com/2008... [Updated version, DOESN'T WORK for me] - Massive update to the Who Are You? script. Useful for browsing your friends and strangers on Friend Feed. Adds a "Who are you?" link on profile pages AND on that little popup box when you hover over a name. - Mitchell Tsai
(11.8) Is FriendFeed Down? http://isfriendfeeddown.com (11.19) FFToGo http://fftogo.com (11.20) Benjamin's FriendFeedStats appears to be down. Ok, I'm going to cheat on the whole flippin' the bird meme on FF today and instead of a photo of me, just post the three photos that I currently have in my "Flippin' the Bird" set on Flickr instead.

Only three? Obviously you are not pissing off enough people!
- Tom Harrison
only three so far, I'm sure that there will likely be more in my lifetime though.
- Thomas Hawk
Wait...wasn't it you that had the guy with the bluetooth earpiece flipping you off..or was that Jeremy Brooks?
- Kreg Steppe
I'm sure you'll have good odds of expanding your "Flippin' the Bird" collections if you take pics of people in LA/Hollywood and NYC. Beware of being labeled as a paparazzi. :P
- imabonehead
@Kreg, I had one earpiece guy but he wasn't flipping me off. Jeremy Brooks had another earpiece guy too.
- Thomas Hawk
I'm pretty sure I have a photo of Nick Douglas flipping the bird as well from a few years back somewhere but don't think I've processed it yet. Have to try and track that one down someday.

I answered an ad like that when I was about 13 years old. Never got a response. Although it seems like that was only a short time ago so I guess I really did TRAVEL ON TIME!!!!!!

Wow! It's published ! the Ad I posted yesterday (june 4th 1984) is published today! And the media changed...

If you ever get the chance to travel back in time & want to make money on the stock market (1) figure out options first (2) you can make a ton on a no-name stock in one day. Better yet would be the "7 days" - prevent a disaster thing...

Mitchell, unless you went so far back in time when the dinosaurs roam. :)

does it involve going 88 miles per hour? if yes, im there.

"Jerry Yang is the $1.8 billion man. The stock market thinks Yahoo is worth that much more without Yang at the helm. That’s approximately how much the market capitalization of Yahoo’s stock went up this morning, with the first trade after last night’s announcement that Yang would be stepping down as CEO. The shares were up nearly 12 percent in early morning trading. They opened at $11.94, compared to a close of $10.63 last night. (The $1.31 difference X 1.4 billion shares outstanding = $1.83 billion)"

Kol, since you posted this manually you can upload the photo and then include a link to where ever you would like (including the original image online). The only time you can't link directly to an image on FF is when you're using the bookmarklet.

Sometimes I post images from my hard disk that have found their way there over the time. I have often no idea where they originate, but usually from some picture collection sites that have just copied them from similar sites (and they don't have idea about the origins, either)

If I could get back onto Digg I could tell you. :-(
- Kol Tregaskes
I'm not patient enough to wait 30 minutes. Once we were driving to Vegas and stopped at the Denny's in Baker (a very small freeway town with very high traffic at its businesses). After a delay, we were seated. After waiting 10 minutes and not even receiving a hello, we left. (Leaving the ketchup intact.) My wife now refuses to stop in Baker.
- Ontario Emperor
-1 for uncreative use of mustard vs. ketchup, I would've drop-shadowed ever letter. I think I'm also peeved cuz, regardless of poor service, this is a bit OTT
- Marko Bon
I'm not sure that there is an establishment large enough that I wouldn't be able to physically contact the wait-person and get my order in / be heard / be attended to.
- Marko Bon
Why do some people blame this on the customers? It's a bit immature, but I'd be pissed too.
- iTad
@Tad: 1) Customer is a dunce to wait 30 minutes for service. At 10 minutes they should have found a server and demanded service or gotten up and walked out. 2) Why take it out on a likely over-worked and under-paid server. Does that person deserve to clean up a juvenile mess? Find a manager and complain like an adult. 3) Get snarky with servers and you will not like what's in your food. Customer FAIL for weak-kneed, passive-aggressive immaturity.
- AJ Kohn
Did anyone tell them it was a walk-up counter?
- Kelly W.
Kol: Here's Mona's post from July 17 http://friendfeed.com/e... with a link to the 7/29/07 Passive-Agressive Notes blog "This is why your server is cranky." http://passiveaggressivenotes.com/2007... @Alan People see what they want to see. You apparently want to see Martial Law and those evil NWO people taking over and therefore are posting links to support your statement.
- Ben Jackson
from twhirl
What would ever make you think that I want to see martial law? Perhaps you should turn the lens of "confirmation bias" back on yourself? On the contrary, and even to support "confirmation bias", I believe that most Americans do not believe that martial law could ever happen here and I am simply pointing out the laws and policies that are already in place, and that most people are unaware of, which could make it very possible for martial law to be declared in America, so that people can be more informed.
- Alan Cheslow
Here's another one for you Alan, less law and more action. That should help to convince Ben of clear and present danger. http://tinyurl.com/4npsds
- Aaron Krug
You don't want to see Martial Law. But you want to *see* it in the data available.
- Ben Jackson
@Aaron Considering the subversive elements that exist in the US (KKK, Mountain Men, Terror Cells, Yankees Fans), I am kind of disappointed that the ability to do that was illegal in the first place.
- Ben Jackson
If we let ourselves and the nation that represents us become a subversive element in order to root out the subversive elements you speak of, what good have we done? We have only watched ourselves become the villain and the victim at the same time.
- Aaron Krug
@Ben, I suspect that you and I are just not going to agree on this, nor change one another's mind. You have yet to provide any reason why anyone should *not* be knowledgeable and concerned about the increasing amount of power that the government, and specifically the executive branch, has to declare martial law either outright or under a euphemism such as a "state of emergency" or "continuity of government plan"
- Alan Cheslow
... and the very real danger that these powers can be abused to reduce or revoke our Constitutional and civil rights such as Habeas Corpus. So, can you explain why *you* choose to "see" that there is *no* threat of the government declaring martial law?
- Alan Cheslow
Alan, you misunderstand, he sees it as well as anyone else, he just doesn't want to get tagged as a dissenter.
- Aaron Krug
@Alan There's always a "threat." I deal in threats and risk. However, there's a lot more likely threats then the evil NWO declaring martial law. We have higher risks of a NBC attack, large-scale environmental disaster, or cyber-terrorism. I think the question is that if someone is going to declare martial law, why are they passing all these fun new ones and not using the existing ones that govern FEMA, etc. The Human mind always wants to see patterns and will often see it in white noise.
- Ben Jackson
