James Neeley posted a photo: It is difficult to represent the wonderful scene from the Shaffer Trail overlook in Canyonlands National Park. The scale, depth, and lighting each have their own unique difficulties which must be addressed as on attempts to capture the essence of the place. I'm not sure I can do it but here is my humble attempt! ;-) View Large View the entire Arches, Canyonlands, and Moab Set View the entire Utah-Arizona Set View my - Most Interesting according to Flickr
The new NASA iPhone app means that even when you are away from your computer (or telescope), you can gawk at nebulas and sunspots. NASA’s image-of-the-day and astronomy-photo-of-the-day collections are right there in searchable thumbnail grids. (We like the “nebula” and “mass ejection” searches.) Plus, you can e-mail or save them to your phone. It’s hard to think of a better way to get nerdy/sublime backgrounds than this app.

When I arrived here there was a guy from Chicago standing just to the left of the rim of this hole....I walked up set my tripod down and asked, where are you from, he smiled and said, Chicago. I said ok....um, do you realize that in about a minute you are gonna look like you got out of the shower..... he kind of looked at me with this strange face and then calmly walked away from the rim...next thing you know this bad boy spout put out a fountain of water about 20 feet tall and he looked at me and his eyes were as big as softballs..... He kindly said thank you and then asked if I would take a picture of him and his wife!. I said sure and I did the task......they stood back and watched as this big incoming tide worked its magic....I wish I had a video of this for those of you who have hever seen such a thing.... Let me just give you a quick idea of how this works.....the big waves come in like you...
TimboDon posted a photo: Who can go visit a country without a tokin panorama of its capital...well I guess I can't. I wish I had taken a bit more time on checking the exposures as one was a little blurry. Now I can appreciate all those tutorials about sharpness when using a zoom lens. I guess you can get a bit spoiled when always on the wide angle. Anyway, its a 4 image stitch using a Cokin GND8. Got some lines in the sky during the resize/compression as they don't seem to be in the main file. Next time yet again Thanks for looking
Great photo. But Auckland isn't the capital (Wellington is).

@carolyn On the topic of sliding fingers for input I just came across this http://www.swypeinc.com/product... sorta like the T9 dictionary input for sms in mobiles - this is easier to let the computer guess what we are about to type rather than having to type it out.

"Compared to pure cloud-based companies like Google, Microsoft has two key advantages. First, it has decades of experience and millions of customers, both of which will help it make the transition to the cloud. (And, in the case of its customers, many will simply follow Microsoft to the cloud.) Secondly, and perhaps most important, Microsoft offers a hybrid strategy that will prove invaluable to Microsoft's most important customers: The enterprise. Unlike Google, which pretty much offers an all-or-nothing cloud approach, Microsoft sells both on-premise and cloud-based solutions. And they work together, so you can mix and match."

I was discussing this same thing today. The big thing keeping bluechip Japanese companies is the in house hosting and control. All the other docs or zoho benefits are minor for them.

Wiggum03 posted a photo: First sunlight on the Minarets behind Ediza Lake in the Ansel Adams Wilderness. I wore myself out to get there this past weekend, with 500 miles of driving and 14 miles of hiking. Very early Saturday morning I left San Francisco and drove through Yosemite to the eastern side of the Sierras. Near Mammoth Lakes I set out on a trail that goes up to Shadow Lake and briefly joins the John Muir Trail before climbing to Ediza Lake, where I planned to camp that night. Camping is prohibited on much of the shore around Ediza, and as far as I could tell the only way to get to the unrestricted area involved either 1) wading through a fast-moving, rocky creek, or 2) wading through the lake at the point where it outlets into Shadow Creek and then hiking over a field of boulders. Getting a little wet is no big deal, but – considering my heavy backpack and the fact that I’m not blessed with world-class balance – it didn’t take too much effort to picture myself taking a spill...
