"There has been much talk of Twitter users moving over to FriendFeed since Twitter replies were down for the majority of last week. Twitter announced that they were back on Saturday in their blog, but seeing as the outage may have inspired some users to flock to FriendFeed, I decided to take a look at the 3rd-party applications and scripts that enhance the FriendFeed functionality. For those of you moving on to FriendFeed’s greener pastures, here are 13 essential tools for an organized, “noise”-free experience." - Russellreno via Bookmarklet
I'm waiting for my gridjit invite. - Russellreno
I thought about making NoiseRiver a closed alpha (by invites) actually. But then told to myself: to hell with hesitation, let's make it and face bugs together! ;-) - directeur via NoiseRiver
Directeur: Have you check you inbox for all your new followers lately? - Russellreno
Congrats on all the great press! - Patrick Lightbody
@Russellreno : ouch! It's full! I'm subscribing to many of them, maybe I'm skipping some but I'll definitely see that again :) - directeur via NoiseRiver
Thanks Patrick! Actually without the great feedback from you folks that wouldn't happen... The first 20 minutes of the launch were really HOT :) - directeur via NoiseRiver
D: BTW there is a GM script that will help you subscribe. Google "Better Friendfeed Subscribe to me". After you load it you go into your "People who scribe to me" tab. It adds a superscribe button. - Russellreno
Thanks for the info Russellreno! I'll download it now :) - directeur via NoiseRiver

“Taxi driver has my iPhone. He is returning it. But, I learned my FriendFeed behavior is WAY DOWN because I don't have my iPhone (I interact with FriendFeed a LOT from my iPhone when I'm away from my computer). I hate my Nokia phone for doing the same thing. The Web sucks on other phones. ”

Yay for the taxi driver! - Diane Ensey
Big honnest Taxi driver! - directeur via NoiseRiver
Maybe just one sentence explanation why Taxi Driver has your iphone??? - Cody Heitschmidt
You got lucky... that's a good taxi driver. - Bill Sodeman via fftogo
I lost my iPhone on Tuesday in a Taxi. The driver was cleaning out his cab and found it under his seat and called me a few minutes ago. Made me feel a lot better about humanity. I'll be sending him a nice reward. - Robert Scoble
You can say that again. Unfortunately for a lot of Europeans iPhone will be unaffordable. European operators and their scandalous subscription plans go straight against Apple's philosophy in my opinion. Maybe you could write about that Robert. - Rutger Blom
:) I like this. - directeur via NoiseRiver
Rutger: I was talking with Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren. She said she's getting rid of her iPhone as soon as Google's Android comes out. Think about that for a second and you have your answer right there. Apple is repeating the same mistakes that it made in 1989. - Robert Scoble
Have to agree. Even using the regular FF site (not the mobile version) is pretty sweet. - Jonathon
Yay! Taxi driver! I left my wallet in a Taxi in Brazil. He had a friend call me in the US (since he didn't speak English), and mailed me back my wallet. Some great people in this world... - Mitchell Tsai
cool on the ethical driver - i find myself using my iphone to access friendfeed a ton - mike "glemak" dunn
More often than not people do the good thing. We just hear about the bad more cause thats what TMZ likes to cover. Ha first time I ever referenced TMX please dont hate me \ - Cody Heitschmidt
NY cabbies are the best! - Larry Heim
Glad to hear there are some honest people left in this world. Wonder if he would have contacted Robert if there was not a reward? Or maybe he knew nothing about the reward and was just being a good person. - Jeff P. Henderson
How did he figure out it was yours? - Andrew Feinberg
Good on the driver! - Kevin C. Tofel
Jeff: he didn't know there was a reward. Andrew: I had texted to that phone to please call me. That text was on the screen when he found it. - Robert Scoble
My taxi driver contacted me with no reward (in Brazil). On the other hand, my first camera was pick-pocketed in Brussels, Belgium. My friends are surprised it wasn't the other way around. :0) I say "give people the benefit of the doubt". Most are wonderful people. .... and the other 5% rob you blind. - Mitchell Tsai
Great news Robert. The world is full of honest and honorable folks. - Tsega Dinka
It's always nice when people do the right thing, like returning a lost phone. Good story! - Niall Connellan
Glad to hear all is well, Robert. Expect my photos soon, there are some great ones! - Andrew Feinberg
HOORAY! - James via Alert Thingy
wow that's great that he was stand up enough to get it back to you, +1 that taxi driver. - Chris Jones
Glad you have your phone back! I totally ditched my bb after I got my iPhone. Personally, I think its mostly the real estate and the touchscreen. What do you believe are your reasons? - simonpure
I love it when people find things and try to find who it belongs to and give it back. The positive feelings from that are worth more than even the cost of the product. - Thomas Hawk
@ Scoble I think Jobs may know just a little more about the tech business than either Lofgren or you. My money is still on Apple and the iPhone. It's obvious that it has already influenced the entire mobile industry including Android. - James
Way to go taxi driver! - Britney Mason
How wonderful that you're getting it back. And how neat that the taxi driver did the right thing! - Abby Martin
It's slightly sad that the fact the taxi driver is honestly returning the phone is so laudable, isn't it? It means one of 2 things - either we assume the worst as a matter of course, or the world really is full of horrible people and anything good stands out starkly. - John Samuelson
I think we are all pessimists. I've found that most people are *much* nicer than I expect them to be. - Diane Ensey
Robert what Nokia do you have? - Joe Dawson
i agree the nokia sucks for browsing the web, especially because it's hard as hell to type, but windows mobile powered smartphones ain't all that bad. glad you're getting your phone back. - Lynne d Johnson
Joe: I have three phones. Nokia N95; Nokia N82; and Samsung Blackjack II (Windows Mobile Phone). Lynne: I agree, but I still like the iPhone a lot more than Windows Mobile powered smartphones. - Robert Scoble
Tell him to take a pic of himself on your iPhone and then ship it back to you .Then post /blog his pic and your/his story on the web. This will at least give him some j"honesty" juice for which ever city he is on .. methinks that a nice way to promote his services and his honesty and also that city :)- make him mini hero !! - Peter Dawson
FriendFeed works incredibly well on mobile safari, readable and easy to use. I'nm not sure they need a special version for mobile. - fbrunel
Yeah for good karma and decent people. - Mark Forman
Nice to know there are honest people left in the world. - Kevin Shannon
Awesome story! BTW, I love using Benjamin Golub's http://FFtogo.com mobile version of FriendFeed on my BlackBerry 8830 Curve. Excellent 3G service and Ben's app is improving at light speed. Remember, he also created http://RSSmeme.com - so that's where my money's at! - Susan Beebe
Glad you're getting it back. - Alex Hammer

Duncan Riley has got a fever. A fever... for more FriendFeed. - Louis Gray
I just wish I could give my list of specs to someone to build the perfect client :-) They're all good, but they all lack in some way as well - Duncan Riley
Duncan, I sent you an e-mail with just the guy to reach... - Louis Gray
I still use twhirl. MySocial was the least appealing design of all. I do agree re: desktop clutter however. - Tyler Hannan
As soon as Twhirl gets the single window integration down elegantly I feel this race will be over. - Mark Krynsky
Twhirl doesn't open links in Camino so I can't use it. I know this is an Air problem though. - Scott O'Raw
No clients. I want web only. Enough with downloaded software. - Hutch Carpenter
mysocial doesn't seem to have integrated FF and twitter streams, right? deal breaker imo. - Samuel Bostock
@Louis I think we've converted Duncan :) - Shey
Twhirl keeps opening links in a new firefox/flock browser window instead of a new tab on my mac. *hate that*. Also doesn't seem to recognize Flock on Windows - keeps opening up in IE *hate that too* - /(bb|[^b]{2})/ (Kamath) via twhirl
@Kamath As far as I know, the AIR clients tend to use whatever the "default browser" is on the system. - Rob Diana
yeah same - whatever the default is for me. - Dave Gray via twhirl
I have to restart twhirl at least once a day. Memory utilization can sometimes reach 300M+. Anyone else noticing this? I have 2G on my laptop so it's not that big of a deal, but it's annoying nonetheless. It's fun watching twhirl compete with Firefox to see who can reach the 300M mark first, though. - Jeff Brewster
@Jeff I have the same exact situation (twhirl/firefox competition), but only 1GB of RAM. It would be nice if at least one of them didn't leak all over. - elroy via twhirl
Twhirl has done wonders for me on Twitter, but I doubt any app will replace Friendfeed on web. - Shey
Duncan Riley's FriendFeed article from Monday 5/12 - http://www.inquisitr.com/why-y... - Mike Reynolds
I primarily use FriendFeed.com, Twitter.com, the Google Reader + Twitter script, the TwitIt bookmarklet, the FriendFeed bookmarklet, and the new "share with note" within Google Reader. - Mike Reynolds
I've commented on the memory use by Thwirl in the past as well. Especially if you keep it open for a while. Some sort of memory leak perhaps? - Steven Van Tilburg via twhirl
I want to like Twhirl, but yes, it is a memory hog that rivals Firefox in the memory leak department. After awhile, I can't even send a tweet using Twhirl because the whole app has locked up. Worse still when you're using FF and Twitter at the same time. - David Risley
Works fine for me. And I'm running Vista @David :D - Shey
Too early even for an early adopter to rely on these things for consistent performance. - Tom Landini
@David Risley Amen. And god forbid you even THINK about opening Safari with that mess in play. - Cyndy
Great overview of these services, Duncan. I've given up on desktop clients for FriendFeed for the moment. None have managed to keep me from going back to the web page. - Carla Thompson
Revisiting this thread after installing Firefox 3 RC1. Much better than beta 5. Currently, firefox.exe running for 33+ hours is using 250Mb. twhirl.exe running for ~24 hours is using 302Mb! - Jeff Brewster

"I once wrote about a site called allsimps.com that had every Simpsons episode online in Flash for free. Soon after, unsurprisingly, it got yanked down. But that page still does very well on Google Searches, and everybody thinks they've found the Holy Grail... D'oh!" - Louis Gray

Facebook has Nexus, FriendWheel, Friends Density, and Socialicious (Names or Pictures in different sizes). If you're viewing your own Nexus, the common interests for each link are shown (incredibly useful). Viweing other people's Nexuses don't show the common interests.
