Getting ready for the phone interview, and decided to get my hopes up and try on my suit. It fits, woohoo!
2009-09-08 15.52.25-1.jpg
And even better: no suits were snotted upon during this session. I'm a winner all around! - FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
ha ha, good luck! - Josh Haley
lookin' good! - Joe Silence
Well, hello there! :) - JA Castillo
Looking sharp! Good luck! So, you have a video phone? - Nik
No, today's just a phone interview Nik, but I'm hoping to get called in for a face-to-face. I've had the thing since college, hence the question on whether it would fit or not. Probably needs to go to the cleaners if today goes well... - FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
just don't go "SNOK" while on the phone! :) - Joe Silence
I'm going to pretty much apologize in advance if I sneeze, so hopefully she'll give me a pass on it. - FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
Dressed for success!!! - Joe
I'd hire you based on this shot alone! ;o) - Mark "DerBingle" J
Here's hoping you won't be the only one thinking that, Mark! - FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
Well it's a good thing you dress up nice. Look good, feel good, talk smart. (ok feeling good is a problem i understand). - Nik
good luck! :) wow - Roldano
wowza, lady! You look great in it. - Yolanda
*wolf whistle* - Spidra Webster
I've realized a small problem: I don't think I own any run-free pantyhose. As we're also now out of orange juice, I guess I'll muster enough energy to go to the store for both a little later on. - FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
Woo! - Nation Hahn
Good Luck. - Brent - Loving Life
*tries to not stare or otherwise act creepy* *fails* - Joe Silence
Tina! Pantyhose? Skirt? WTF??!! Thankfully those days are gone. I'm tellin' ya. - anna sauce
Luckily I don't think it's a pantyhose job, more a 'business casual'. But, interview in clothes a notch above the company's daily norm is what I've always heard... - FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
I stopped wearing my skirt suit because (as this thread shows) it just sends the girlie message a bit too hard. Now I do slacks, suit jacket, and nice top underneath. Glasses not contacts. If your'e curvy (like I am, and it looks like you are) you don't have to sex up the office clothes at all. - anna sauce
It's a really nice suit and you look great- a women's tech group I am in talk about this *all the time* and in the early 90s there was a definite shift out of the skirt for reasons above. I mean, it's all in the impression. Since I'm going for tech roles, it's a tad different. If I was going for marketing, I'd vamp up a bit more. I'm more "trying to be taken seriously," though now that I'm older that's a little less of a worry than I was in my 20s trying to get a programming job! - anna sauce
The best advice I got was- "dress for the pay you want". You may not want to out-dress your workplace, as that may send triggers of "she doesn't fit in." It's an interesting line. For corporate environments, definitely wear a suit (dress/skirt or slacks) for small companies, I'd go more for fitting in, but definitely show that you care and put effort into it (and dress for the pay you want). - anna sauce
Hot! - Meryn Stol
Well, it is a corporate job so a suit is appropriate if I get a face to face interview. An unfortunately, the skirt suit is the only one I have. Without my income and without even having my first unemployment check, I'm not in a position to buy a new one right now. - FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
Understood- good luck! - anna sauce
Lookin' sharp! - Laura B.
I sometimes do office visit interviews for my large IT company and I see skirts and pants. If it was my interview, I'd wear a knee length skirt. - Sarah Miller from iPhone
@anna "dress for the pay you want". I have to remember that. - Nik
Wear your suit during the phone interview. You will magically come across as a true professional. - m9m, Crone of FriendFeed
Coming late to the party - but it's gorgeous, and so are you. You'll knock 'em dead. - MaryB, BrandingBroadOfFF
*buys a kilt* - Joe Silence
Ooooooo, DS! That would be so hawt! Mark Vandenberg promised to wear a kilt for us, but he never did. #Harrumph - Ladybug Heather
NO PROMISES WERE MADE!!!! - MVB (Grinch of FF)
I heard him promise...pretty sure. - Josh Haley
Guys go crazy for a sharp dressed woman... - John E. Bredehoft
Very nice! Academia must be ultra-conservative this way b/c we are told to avoid showing our knees in our interview wear. Partly because of the pantyhose/shiny knee conundrum, but also because of how it might look when you sit down. Most initial interviews are done at our big conference, either at the conference job center or in hotel suites/rooms. You never know where you might be... more... - Katy S

Thousands call for Turing apology - BBC News
I had no idea they forced him to get chemically castrated after he admitted he was gay. Disgusting. I hope the government officially apologizes for killing one of the great minds of that generation. - Bret Taylor from Bookmarklet

Pretty bad for the "good guys" in WWII, eh? Doubly sad that it (apparently) caused him to commit suicide. So we lost one of the greatest minds in computer science in his early 40s. - Joel Webber
What a sad story... I hope they do apologize. Here's a link to the petition, but you have to live in the UK to sign: http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/turing... - Shannon Jiménez
If the British government doesn't apologize for murdering Turing, they will be no better than the Nazi enemy that threw homosexuals into the gas chambers alongside the Jews and Gypsies. Wasn't he supposed to be on *our* side? The *Law* didn't think so... - Dennis Jernberg
We're still not very nice to gays. Apologizing for the past makes a statement. Correcting the present makes a difference in people's lives. I hope we do both. - Andrew Warner from iPhone
The man was an absolute genius, its a pity he could not live further to expand our horizons of thinking. His abstract computing device called "Turing Machine" is for computer scientists what speed of light is for physicists, an ultimate limit of computation - thequark
Andrew agree. This is sad. I hope we can "correct the present." - Rick Cogley
They should apologize for throwing Oscar Wilde in the clink as well. - Joel Webber
If we follow the line of reasoning where the current government must apologize for all previous governments then it eventually reaches the point of absurdity. Besides how meaningful is an apology on behalf of someone else? - Adewale Oshineye
Ok, I was being a bit silly about Wilde (there are plenty of things the Victorians could apologize for). But Turing was abused by what could be argued to be the "current" government (or at least political system), and that we still think of as the "good guys" (for wont of a better term) in WWII. And it was only ~50 years ago. - Joel Webber

Scam of the Week: “US Commerce Association”
Hey folks - guess what? My neglected blog has won the "Best of Boston" award for "Management Services" - despite me being in Los Angeles and not offering - nor ever writing about - management services. With a web site full of content pilfered from the SBA, they send emails to business owners telling them they've won this award. They even show you a big, fancy press release. If you'll just "confirm your contact information" and send them $200+, you'll receive the framed award, to proudly hang in your home or office as a memento of your own personal stupidity. - Anthony Citrano from Bookmarklet
BTW it's a little script. So you get this e-mail from "Ashley Carter" who is the “Selection Committee Chair” for the Association. The "draft press release" is "here" and you click a little coded link and it gens up the award and press release. Wonder how much they make off this. - Anthony Citrano
Personally I've always found photography to be the best memento of personal stupidity, but this would come in a close second. - Dennis O'Neil

FriendFeed has been almost completely blocked in Iran as far as we can tell. We have a large number of very active Iranian users, and we noticed a steep decline in activity yesterday. Graph below.
FriendFeed-Iran-Blocking.png
:( :( - Rachel Lea Fox
Related to the election? - τorƍue
that's so bad... - Eren Emre Kanal
:-( - Kevin Fox
τorƍue: Yes, as far as we know - Bret Taylor
این نمودار نشاندهنده افت فرندفید به دلیل بسته شدن آن در ایران است - Mycaptain
Bret: Is this based on IP numbers located in Iran, or actual activity from those users? If it's IP based, it'd be interesting to see the activity on a user basis and see if they've been able to route around the blocking. - Ken Sheppardson
Could it be related to Twitter being blocked (and therefore the twitter traffic import being blocked)? - Stephan Osmont
): - Jim Norris
Some users are definitely going through proxies. This is total # of unique visits from IPs originating in Iran - Bret Taylor
That tells it's own, sad, story. - WorldofHiglet
:((( - Oğuz Serdar
Wow. - Rochelle
If Twitter were blocked and FriendFeed weren't, I'd expect an uptick in FriendFeed activity, not a 92% drop. - Kevin Fox
I.e. given all the users who've previously accessed the site from an Iran IP number, how many have been active from different numbers in the past 2 days. - Ken Sheppardson
Instead of "liking" this, shouldn't we have an "unlike" button? - Steven Melfi
:( Bret: According to Stephen fry, these are the iran proxies: 218.128.112.18:8080 218.206.94.132:808 218.253.65.99:808 219.50.16.70:8080 . Can you track these IPs? - Roberto Bonini
I knew this day was coming. Too bad. - Robert Scoble

I wonder what the international community can do about stuff like this. Eventually the "bad guys" will lose. - Michiel Sikkes
Hopefully, we'll never see a graph like this for Turkey... - Onur Şentüre
that's because the government has blocked access to friendfeed, twitter, facebook, youtube and ... after election and after protests in Iran cities ! - Farshad
Man... :( That's really a corrupt government. Hope it gets better soon. - Peter
That's horrible. - Barış (beyn.org)
Kheyzaran mentioned over the weekend that both Twitter and FF were blocked for Iran starting I believe on Friday. He is using a proxy when possible to keep us updated - FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
Bret, any analysis about how many people unable to access FF directly are still able to access it via proxy? - Daniel Dulitz

can you suggest a way in friendfeed to show the situation in iran to the world ? its very important - Farshad
I doubt any regular North Koreans have computers τorƍue - Eric @ CSTechcast.com

this is really bad. i hope there's some resolution to this. the people or iran have shown a lot of strength and courage to protest the illegitimacy of recent events. i don't think this will stop things - Cee Bee
Is it possible that the same folks from Iran that are active on Friendfeed are the ones out protesting? - MVB (Grinch of FF)
please help us , we are under attack ,change friendfeed logo if you can - فرزاد
we need a new way - Semiramis
@MVB we all are Protests - MohammadReza

For those that are in Iran: Have you tried http://fftogo.com as a workaround? - FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
make a room for us, invite your friends we will fill it with latest news - Farshad
I'm completely for having a fair vote, but I'm not sure that I'd want to try and align FriendFeed with a particular candidate, which is what a green logo would imply. - Kevin Fox
Many iranians using proxies to access FF. and therefore their IPs changes to fake IP . - آدمیرال
MohammadReza: Maryam's mom is still able to call her relatives and friends in Tehran, so they are keeping some voice traffic open, if not all. - Robert Scoble

No words for that... - Frank
thanks kol :) - Farshad
@Kevin, totally understandable. - EricaJoy from IM
If Iran thinks they have nothing to fear, then why block Friendfeed? - Frode Stenstrøm
Frode: because the government is like China: they believe that by retarding the flow of information they will reduce the threat of protests and governmental overthrow. - Robert Scoble
Very reminiscent of the prelude to the fall of the Shah - Alan Morris
I don't speak Persian, so I don't know all the searches, but there are still (luckily) a lot of Persian users posting: http://friendfeed.com/search.... If you are Persian and looking for updates, try our search engine to find the few users who still have access. - Bret Taylor
Frode: and in Iran's case, they are run by conservative religious authorities and they don't like the fact that they are not in control of information flow like they used to be. They like to think they can still control information sources and, since they can't, they try to block places where their citizens can go to share information. - Robert Scoble
is it a joke? iranian users seems the %90 of friend feed. it could not be real! - Fırat DEMİREL
Firat: There are no units on the vertical axis of the chart. - Ken Sheppardson
Firat: This is a chart of traffic from Iran, not of FF's total traffic. - Kevin Fox
Firat, i doubt that this graph is a percentage graph... probably more likely that it's measuring hits, sessions, or total data transfered (mb, kb, etc) - Chris Heath
Kevin: what impact did this have on FF's overall traffic? - Robert Scoble
Robert: Iran is the #6 country for FriendFeed in terms of page views per day. - Bret Taylor
something is cooking out there... - mehdi
Thanks all for answers. i told that it could not be real.. :) excuse me, i ve just read Bret's notice and looked at breaking point. i saw what i've missed before.. bad news for ff and iran.. :( - Fırat DEMİREL
These statistics are incredible, especially the normally heavy useage of FF in Iran. - Curt Mercadante
Bret Taylor, we can tag our pix and vids about iran election by an english keyword such as 'iran' or 'iranelection'. I think it will help to ff non-persian users to find out more about unrests in iran. - آدمیرال
Iran restored cell phone service Sunday that had been down in the capital since Saturday. But Iranians still could not send text messages from their mobile phones, and the government increased its Internet filtering in an apparent attempt to undercut opposition voices. On twitter people are retweeting the IPs and ports of unblocked proxies, can we do something like that here? - Canageek
martin, i'm from iran. twitter is blocked. what evidence you wanna? screenshot!? - آدمیرال
yes Canageek. we use proxies for tweeting - آدمیرال
Authorities blocking the internet are just reinforcing solidarity between people, can't they understand ? - Stanislas Jourdan
Stanislas: not to mention they encourage their smartest and richest people to leave (the ones who have technical skills). There's a reason why Silicon Valley has 10,000 or more Iranians living here. Their government sucks and the people are getting tired of it. Of course if their government was great I would never have met my wife (who grew up in Tehran). So, there is good to come out of a crappy government! :-) - Robert Scoble
it has always seemed to me that the iranian user base is ENORMOUS here. wow. unbelievable. - edythe
It is interesting how much civil unrest that is brewing across the globe towards their governments. The knee jerk reactions in attempting to block certain websites shows how much they didn't expect the net to become such a widespread conduit for cutting through the bs and informing those that wish to know. I wish those who take a stand all the best. - alphaxion
:( - Roberto
Another way for those that are in Iran is to access through Netvibes (but I don't know if it works or if it's blocked too), adding Friendfeed, Gmail and so on such as modules - Roberto
Thanks for sharing this, Bret. It's valuable evidence of what's going on, evidence which wouldn't have been available even a few years ago. - Michael Nielsen
Very interesting...so much for democracy and voting rights in Iran... - freedom fighter mom
If anybody in Iran feels up to it, can you temporarily disable your proxy and run a traceroute to friendfeed.com and twitter.com then post the results here? - EricaJoy
Bret and Paul, can you let us know if the traffic comes back, which would tell us they've unblocked FriendFeed? - Robert Scoble
Robert: absolutely, we will let everyone know when it comes back up - Bret Taylor from email
Steven: You Like that it was posted, not the content of the post. - Tanath

Can't we transfer the data/databases of the sites you, iranian guys, use to any new domain we could buy? I want to help. Not by throwing rocks to "security service" forces, but, at least, by making possible for what YOU have to say to go public, worldwide. - Zackatoustra

10 & 12 year old siblings won't stop fighting, mom pulls over and makes them walk the 3 miles home. Am I the only who doesn't think this makes her a bad mom? - http://origin.reddit.com/r...
no!! Did the same thing - Mel Buckpitt
You are not - alieb
My parents used to do that all the time - back then I thought it made them bad parents. Now I think they were smart. - Jesse Stay
3 miles is a long time to have to walk next to the person you're arguing with and not say anything for a pre-teen. - rob friedman
My wife's recipe for situations like this is to pull over and refuse to drive until the kids calm down. - Vlado Handziski
Absolutely not! Kudos to her for disciplining her kids. 3 miles may be a bit much, but really, 3 miles isn't that far if you live in suburbia - that could be the distance from the entrance of a subdivision to your front door! I don't think enough people discipline their kids these days, everyone ends up being a slave to their child - and afraid to tell them how it's gonna be. It's like everyone forgot what parenting is... - Jim Rubenstein
Nope. Unless it was in the snow up hill both ways, I don't want to hear any complaining! - Alex Scrivener
3 miles? I'm surprised she's not in jail right now! - Gabe
Nope, I know i'd rather walk 3 miles home and give a reasoned apology to my Mum than get hit for a punishment and have both of us end up feeling worse. - Charlotte M
in my mind (and without reading the article) it really depends where she made them walk. - Joe Silence
in general, this seems like a bad idea. leaving your kids alone on the street when you can no longer deal w/ them is a bad idea. the 'punishment' of walking in reaction to arguing is wide of the mark, too. from my POV, this is an example of bad parenting. - MikeAmundsen
35 years ago many people would've thought nothing of it. this is not the mid-1970s, tho. - Joe Silence
I think it depends on where they are. A suburban neighborhood would likely be safe but if this was in the middle-of-nowhere or in a really unsafe city/area, then it could be a bad idea. - Rochelle
I think it is fine; once, during August camp two of the players on my football team got into a fight. Our coach made them spend the rest of the practice running laps on the track holding hands - RAPatton
What really happened is the 12-year-old caught up with the mom and got a ride home. Her sister found somebody to give her a ride home. Neither of the girls had to walk very far. - Gabe
What Rochelle said. Depends where. - Merry Xmas FFeeders - AJ
So, at 10 and 12 years old, the mom hasn't gotten to the point with her kids that they can't behave? Or at least that when she tells them something (like to stop and not touch each other), they listen? Taken in broader context ... I'm not impressed with this in the slightest. It's sort of like having someone ask you again and again and again and again for something and you simply ignore them, but then you finally blow up that last time and scream at them. - AJ Kohn
I have a twin. Therefore it happened to me many times. And I'm fine :) - Jérôme Flipo
first comment on the reddit page definitely gets it right. We ARE a nation of pansies. The first time we allowed a lawsuit over hot coffee split because the woman held it between her legs, we became screwed. - Ⓐ ☠ slayerboy ☠ Ⓐ
Possibly some necessary context: White Plains is probably equivalent to most cities outside of New York. It's not like leaving them in Anytown, USA. It also appears that the kids split up, and one didn't know the way back. - Mark Trapp
It's a facts and circumstances inquiry. If the area was safe, it was a perfectly reasonable solution for a 10 and 12 year old. The mother who turned her in (for doing nothing wrong) is a harpie, and the judge who issued the protective order is an asshat. - O.Shane
To Mike VanLare: in the McDonald's suit, the plaintiff actually only asked for approximately $2000 to settle her medical bills the first time around. McD's refused. And the coffee was far hotter than it should have been (even to McD's specifications). No one reasonably expects coffee to cause 3rd degree burns. - O.Shane
Works better if you get out of the car and walk home and leave them there. :D - Moved to Facebook from fftogo
My grandfather did this to my uncle about 50 years ago... - Zach Landes
Depends where they were, but I don't disagree with making them walk to cool down. I'd want to follow that up with a sit-down talk though. - Rick Cogley
GOOD for her! Smart Mom... kids need to learn that behavior is not acceptable. Disclaimer: Don't try this in East LA, ok... pick your discipline strategy wisely ;) - Susan Beebe
And similarly, http://www.typicallyspanish.com/news... :-( Showing his disagreement on this kind of cases, Emilio Calatayud, a judge working with youngsters, says that the Spanish law observes rights for minors, but they seem to forget that the same law also estipulates DUTIES (i.e. respect for parents) for the same minors. No adults, even judges, seem to remember this. :-( - Maria Jose
I love it when people bring up the McDonalds coffee thing: http://www.vanfirm.com/mcdonal.... - invariant - farewell FF
Nope - that's fair... - Kevin Nordmand
3 miles does seem like a bit much to me, but then I guess the kids should have thought of that. - Jim Addz No Value
If I were going to make the kids walk 3 miles home, They'd walk it, but I'd stay within sight, mostly to make sure they didn't pull any shenanigans like calling for a ride.Sure it'd be a pain in my butt, but it would prove the point. - Heather Solos
Mom should have Boondocks-slapped the two. - Joel Robert Perez
Make them walk the 3 miles, no problem, but she should have tailed them to make sure they got home safely IMO. - Grant Bierman
invariant - thanks for the link on the McDonald's case. nice summary - Violet Bliss Dietz
Tamar Weinberg
HELP! Spent the last 50 minutes trying to explain the SIMPLEST computer issues to my mother. I need GoToMeeting or something temporarily. Where do I get something where she's the server and I'm the client? This is SO annoying. Is there a freeware GoToMeeting/VNC app out there that's easy for someone remotely to hook up?
I think you might be able to use FogCreek's Copilot https://www.copilot.com/ for free for this purpose - Alex Scoble
I'm trying to figure it out within Skype, but I don't know if it's interactive. - Tamar Weinberg
Mark, I don't need to send her to Geek Squad. I need to tell her how to set up a YouTube account. - Tamar Weinberg
there's always logmein - Richard Lawler
Windows Live Mesh has remote desktop too. I'm not sure if she could see what you're doing like how VNC works. - Rodfather
I'm going to try CrossLoop. http://lifehacker.com/5243257... - Tamar Weinberg
Which OS? I've used Chicken of the VNC before, but it's Mac only, I think. - ha3rvey (Ho)^3
What about Skype with a webcam and show that way.. - Rodfather
XP. But somehow, every remote server thinks I'm on a Mac. WTF. - Tamar Weinberg
One of my friends is recommending TightVNC. I haven't tried it yet, though. - ha3rvey (Ho)^3
Or use Jing to share a quick video capture of your desktop - Rodfather
CrossLoop is actually pretty useful. - Tamar Weinberg
...but it really irks me how dumb my mom sounds when I try to explain that all she needs to do is click on a link! :o - Tamar Weinberg
Liking for the nice software recommendations. Also, @Tamar, you have my deepest sympathy. My MiL only recently learned that a "window" on her PC is not the screen itself. And that took my significant other over an hour attempting to explain over the phone to her. - James (!?)
get her on iChat and you can take control - anna sauce
I haven't tried out the other ones suggested here, but Copilot really does work well. - Andrew C
We're both XP users, anna... CrossLoop worked well. :) - Tamar Weinberg
haha James. That is golden. Old mothers are quite interesting people. - Tamar Weinberg
I used to use webex, or make them turn on term services and just fix it - anna sauce
@Tamar "Interesting" is a kind choice of word. ;-) - James (!?)
I won't use Webex on principle of all the spam I get from them. It's ridiculous. - Tamar Weinberg
Tamar - let me know if you have any questions on CrossLoop.... and we can do a little more.... there are expert Helpers who can help your Mom. That is a paid service - let me know if you need a coupon. I can be reached at mrinal [at] crossloop dot com or on twitter @mrinaldesai - Mrinal Desai
Mark, we did that. She couldn't figure out where to go once she logged in. :( Mrinal - thanks - I used to do tech support back in the day so I know what to do for her, I just wish she wasn't 1100 miles away since sometimes I'd like to reach through the screen and... uh, I won't go there :D - Tamar Weinberg
chrisofspades - nice, thanks! - Tamar Weinberg
How about this one? http://www.showdocument.com/ds... very easy share browser. - Orli Yakuel
Good call also. She uses the damn AOL client tho. I gotta teach her to move on. - Tamar Weinberg
I think they have one meant for support something like gotomyhelp or assist or something. They probably have a free trial - Matt Young
try teamviewer if you like - Alpay Erturkmen
I like LogMein Free. http://bit.ly/rqtGs - Steve de Mena
Or you could use Remote Desktop, Remote Assistance or whatever it's called. Built into Windows. Setup a dyndns account for your mom, so you know what hostname to access, ensure her firewall allows Remote Assistance, and viola, you're on her PC. - Marlin Forbes
simply use acrobat.com from Adobe and use Adobe Connect Now - very simply, no install required, all in Flash - love it, use it every day! - Arnaud Fischer
Listen to This Week In Tech and you can get a promo code for free trial. Also TWiT rocks! - Richard South
Microsoft has a free program very similar to WebEx. It is called Microsoft Shared View. Used it for the first time recently and loved it. We also use Windows Remote Asistance internally which only requires the user to accept my help. - Brett G
Jesse Stay
As people begin 2 shift 2 combining their personal & professional life w/ lifestreaming, it will become much harder 2 sift through the noise
For instance, on Steve Rubel's blog, how will I know which posts are personal, and which are professional? Do I have to just follow "him" now? How do I pick and choose? - Jesse Stay
It may be moving in that direction. I do really like what Steve is doing though, even if it seems a little messy. Posterous is looking better and better everyday. - Shawn Hickman
TOOLs, Filters and Search capabilities become even more critical to sorting all this out - Susan Beebe
Jesse, you can change all the 2s to "to" here on FriendFeed. Don't speak that Textlish here. :) - Louis Gray
I actually had to read that a couple times because of the 2's lol... So is the personal part noise or is the work part noise ;) - Frankie Warren
Louis that's FriendFeed's issue. When I post to Twitter they should do that conversion for me :) - Jesse Stay

Reports are saying that MJ was abusing prescription drugs. Very sad.

CNN.com still doesn't have confirmation on their site. Either TMZ rushed it out or CNN's late to the party again... - Thomas
TMZ is more ballsy and has less of a reputation to protect than CNN so they took a chance I guess - Mark
I noticed that, Thomas. We'll see! Hopefully we're not putting him in his grave before his time. - Veronica
BBC are being VERY cautious about the Death thing - Mark
The mainstream news beat Twitter on this story. - Mark
Twitter.com is being hammered. Not suprising. - Mark

Depending on how long he wasn't breathing, he may be technically alive, but... - Thomas
We will worry about bringing him back later, if he is in a coma at least he is alive - Mark
It's interesting that CNN isn't even mentioning the TMZ article. You'd think they'd at least reference it and say "let's wait for confirmation"... - Thomas
thats what the BBC is doing Thomas - Mark

Lets just hope he is in a coma. I mean he is either dead or in a coma right? - Mark

BBC are saying its a shame cos people have tickets for his show and wont be able to go. Unbelievabe - Mark
Last time I felt like this was 12 years ago, staying up all night when Diana passed away. The space-time continuum shifts and you always remember where you were at that moment. - Dave Friedel
CNN just made that Diana comparison... - Thomas
CNN is saying itll be devastating for the Jackson family. You don't say? - Andrew Leahey
I remember Diana's death very well. I was up late watching SNL with a friend of mine during a sleepover party, and the news came on and interrupted it. We didn't know if it was part of the show or not. - Veronica
Yeah, Twitter is not holding up well right now. - Veronica
Yeah, I was moving at the time Diana died. The TV was the first thing I hooked up... - Thomas
I was playing Donkey Kong Country on the Super Nintendo when I heard about Diana. - Mark

Is it just me or is the internet in general feeling sluggish? - Andrew Leahey
I am sure tens of millions of people are on the net than would normally be - Mark
Yep, this feels just like Diana. That was worse because there was over 6 hours of waiting to find out. But it still is shuddering to see a milestone in life go by so fast. - Dave Friedel
Micheal Jackson is/was a world wide music icon to all! Sad day in the music industry for such. - Bryce Campbell

adding his songs to my Napster Library as we speak - Edgar Rodríguez

His death brought a tragic end to a long, bizarre, sometimes farcical decline from his peak in the 1980s, when he was popular music's premier all-around performer, a uniter of black and white music who shattered the race barrier on MTV, dominated the charts and dazzled even more on stage. <------ I was just too young to experience that :( - Mark
