I am really loving the new Facebook LIVE Feed. I think Paul Buchheit and Bret Taylor had something to do with that :) Thanks guys, it looks really awesome. FB feed is highly useful now; much better engagement, relevancy and the photos rock, too! Wondering if this will keep FriendFeeders like Robert Scoble, Louis Gray, Jesse Stay, Dave Winer, MG...
love facebook.jpg
It will. Already it has become 5x more interesting because now it's not just a copy of Twitter that I'm seeing. - Robert Scoble
I'm slowly removing those that are just importing Twitter over to Facebook from my FriendFeed favorites and I'm now tracking them over on Facebook. - Jesse Stay
Robert - yep, I agree with you there. FB is now much more interesting for sure - Susan Beebe
Funny how, at least to a UK sensibility, 'tracking' sounds like 'stalking'.. - Andy Connell
Nothing really new about it - Facebook has had the Live tab on the homepage for 18 months. - Jamie
Jamie, it was removed back in March. They're bringing that back, and adding the "Hide" drop-downs that the previous feed had back to it. - Jesse Stay
It wasnt removed - they actually just improved it in March and made it the default, pushing the old style static feed to the Highlights section on the right. The Live feed update in March added the network and application filters so you could see a live feed by family, colleagues etc. I have little doubt the FF folks have had input into this release though... because it basically mimics the Live/Best of Day feel of FF. - Jamie
I sat next to Paul Buchheit yesterday and he said the FriendFeed team had nothing to do with it. But he likes it too. - Robert Scoble
Jamie, my feed never automatically updated after March. I had to click a link to get it to refresh. Yeah, it gave me the number of new posts, but it didn't automatically update. Maybe you were on a beta test of some sort? - Jesse Stay
I think I'm starting to understand. The Live Feed gives you everything that happens, in reverse chronological order, and you have the option to set filters on it. That's great. But when you log in you land on News Feed, which choses stuff for you, and in unexplainably non-chronological order. You have no power to adjust this? Ack - this smells like potential manipulation/advertising or something. - Michael Slattery
Michael, correct :-) - Jesse Stay

The point about batteries is that @billgates says that solar and wind just won't solve our energy problems @tonyrush
u don't bill gates to tell u that. Unless u can find a energy source that packs the same density that oil or coal before that did you won't find it easy to transition. Historically Humans have always transitioned to a different source of energy only when the density of energy per gram of the product was higher than what they were already using. Wood to Coal to Oil all have increased energy densities. You can tell that to your followers, this is not New - Baba
'Transition' is not a verb. It is a noun. Tell that to your followers. - Andy Connell
Wait... am I at Reddit? ;-) - Andrew Terry
'Transition' can be used as a verb. cf. http://www.thefreedictionary.com/Transit... - SkepticAnimal
We do have an "Energy Source", it covers most of the earth! A DR> looking to cure cancer, stumbled upon the Resonate Frequency for hydrogen. While this could be combined with existing technologies, we will never see this. The PTB, will never let us have an abundant, clean energy source! they want to keep us under their thumb, and control every part of our lives! - Robert Ayling
Hey, skepticanimal - thanks for correctioning me, I appreciation it.. - Andy Connell

I am now trying @my6sense after urging by @louisgray I still like my Twitter lists better. @mkapor pointing to Fake Steve Jobs was the bomb.
For Twitter, all the hours you put into curating your own lists is very valuable. No question. The goal with my6sense is not just to solve the noise problem for people like you and me, who live in the noise and embrace it, but for those who have less time. Additionally, my6sense also gets RSS, so it is RSS + Twitter. - Louis Gray
Nobody has done a better job of curating Twitter lists than you have. But I believe the majority of people will either rely on others' lists (like yours) or prefer an approach like my6sense has. In effect, yes you are right, and my6sense is right. - Louis Gray
Exactly... Different horses for different courses. - Johnny
Meanwhile, in the real world, nobody uses Twitter lists, and hardly anybody ever heard of my6sense.. - Andy Connell

I just talked with another iPhone developer who is moving to Android too. They hate iPhone app approval, says Android lets them iterate fast
Hey Scoble - If you're interested in talking to a mobile TV provider that is developing apps for both platforms, let me know. I am sure MobiTV can provide some interesting thoughts and comparisons. --Matt - Matt Wolpin
Yeah, iterating fast..that's what it's all about. Utter nonsense.. - Andy Connell
Problem remains that a dev preference for Android won't matter if most customers prefer iPhones. - Ryan Waldron
@Ryan That seems to be changing fast. When talking about phones before everyone wanted to talk about Iphone, now it is all about Android - Asgeir

I had a read a Computer World article stating that the Android did not appeal to women at all. They are a significant share of the market. - Jerry Perez

Jerry: I've just realised I don't know any women with an iphone or an android... excuse me while I go and educate my friends. - Amy
yey Android! - Tim Jones
In regards to @Ryan's comment. I'm seeing a lot of people in their 20s and under beginning to think that Apple is no longer cool. I believe a lot of that is due to the lack of openness which seems important to this younger generation. If that is true, Apple will simply not adapt a new culture quick enough (they can't w/ Steve Jobs) and it may hit them without much warning as the Coolness Factor is huge for them. Also developers moving means 'There's an App for that.... elsewhere'. - manielse (Mark Nielsen)

EthanZ: "Why we fall for fast news" - continuing the conversation with @dangillmor on the slow-news movement: http://is.gd/4RgWe - http://twitter.com/EthanZ...
Didn't find the piece insightful. There'll always be the human need to hear things first, even if the source is unreliable. And there'll always be cool heads to take a moment and think rationally about what just happened, after the dust has settled.. - Andy Connell
Because we buy on the rumor and sell on the news. Slow-newsers are buying at the top. You have to understand both. - Cliff Gerrish
Cliff: agree there's room for both. Andy: disagree the fork comes after the dust has settled. It seems like there should be a provision for a user in scanning the news to say whoa, hold up, that's something worth exploring. I know, it's called a bookmark, but who ever gets back to those? Same with conferences, podcasts. I'd love to see a practice bloom in which any discussion ends with... more... - Amyloo
I see nothing wrong with "fast" as long as it's accurate. And there's the rub - fast often turns out to be wrong (balloon boy, Ft. Hood, etc.), and being wrong no longer has any consequences. Frank Reynolds was humiliated when he wrongly announced James Brady was dead in 1981 - today's stenographers just throw it out there under the guise of "we're just repeating what we heard." Stenography isn't reporting. - John Craft
News now follows the startup model: try something quick, fail fast, iterate, converge on what works. Maybe not the most ideal model to follow for news. - Todd Hoff

davewiner: Why the iPhone is a better "communicating camera" than the Droid. http://r2.ly/we3y - http://twitter.com/davewin...
Interesting but very true - polou/indigo_bow
True - I think the idea of a 'communicating camera' is right on the money. I have a Nikon D300, various middle range point-and-shoots of good to very good quality, and an iPhone. I use the Nikon occasionally for landscape stuff and events.. otherwise, it's 100% iPhone, mainly because of the immediacy of communication. Even if I don't post it somewhere immediately, the idea that it's possible is compelling.. - Andy Connell

503 might be better. - Sue - Friendfeed is best
Holden, you're always welcome - your articles are always well thought out - Jesse Stay
Oh, so is Holden saying FriendFeed's lists are wrong? (FriendFeed doesn't have any limits while Twitter does). I disagree with Holden. I am bummed that FriendFeed didn't win in the marketplace so we are stuck with a service with limits. - Robert Scoble from iPhone
I never saw once in that article "Friend Feed is wrong". He used FF as a point of comparison. The article was good. The average Twitter user (me) won't have a list of 500 people. Plus, the cap on 500 helps keep the lists more organized as well. - Candace McCarty
Didn't you mention FF or am I reading two things at once again? Hell, I don't know. It's late. I just got in. *keyboardface*. Edit: No you didn't, the other blog I was reading mentioned FriendFeed. Fail. :( - Candace McCarty
Which makes my point have even more oomph. Well, my first point. Because if FF wasn't mentioned then the article really didn't say "FriendFeed is wrong". ...Yeah. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. - Candace McCarty
The average FriendFeed user won't have that many either. That said limits are easy to work around. - Robert Scoble from iPhone
If you say limiting Twitter to 500 on lists is good you are DEFACTO arguing that FriendFeed did it wrong because there are no limits here. I have one list with more than 10,000 on it here. - Robert Scoble from iPhone
Haha, I bet that's a real useful list. Enough with the numbers already. I have a hard copy list right in my hand with over 200,000 names on it. It's the North London phone directory. I don't get much use from it, to be honest, unless I know what I'm looking for.. - Andy Connell

Awww. Amazing game, wasn't it? And even though I hate Man Utd with a passion the extra time was correct. Gosh football needs to introduce the rugby style of time keeping, then they'll be not dispute. - Kol Tregaskes
The extra time was correct? 7 minutes? Of 'injury' time? When neither trainer once entered the field of play, and there was not one injury worthy of note? Really.. - Andy Connell
Actually, the goal was scored around 5:45. Now a little appreciated fact is that when you score a goal or make a substitution (about 30 seconds), it does not waste time, it actually gets added. So 4 goals in the second half, plus 5 substitution made 4 minutes. Also, the last Man City goal was scored at 89 mins and that time was added into injury time as well, plus a substitution was made in injury time which all added up to about 6 minutes. Simple maths... and a fucking kick ass football side. Sorry... - Johnny
Don't be sorry - just explain with your 'simple maths' how it is that, after Utd had scored their 'goal' the ref allowed only a further 17 seconds of play. On the other hand, don't waste your time. We've all had enough of the 'little appreciated facts' coming from United fans.. - Andy Connell
Tehehe... You can buy a team of champions, but all the money in the world will never buy you a championship team. We could also talk about the hand ball in the box... or don't City fans want to talk about it :P - Johnny
Also, in case you were wondering.... the way I found out these little know facts was it came up after the game on our local Australian broadcast... The host was a City fan... He said it was stretched but not outrageous. - Johnny
PLUS... Kol is a Liverpool supporter... If a Liverpool supporter backs Man Utd, you're argument is immediately invalid :) - Johnny
Ah, Aussie red - no further explanation required.. - Andy Connell
Hey, I follow Brisbane Roar, the team beat more in injury time then ANY side in the known world :P - Johnny from IM
Haha.. - Andy Connell
The extra time is correct, 4mins extra time, then the celebrated added a min then the substitution about about 30 second. The winner was scored 1 second over the allocated time but I think we'll give the ref that. ;-) - Kol Tregaskes
I still hate Man Utd. ;-) - Kol Tregaskes
