Real time search returns different variations of clocks
- Mike Nayyar
But does it link to my Adult Friend Finder account?
- Mike Nayyar
The question is... How would normal users feel about a search engine using their Facebook data. A lot of people like the walled garden of Facebook, especially with their jobs.
- Johnny
Johnny: this could be what helps open up Facebook for people. Searching Facebook is kind of the "final frontier" that Facebook needs to conquer, and this could accelerate people down the path of being open with their data, and sharing things across platforms (i.e. beyond facebook.com)
- Mike Nayyar
most of my twitter and facebook follows list are non-friends - guess google will be searching a lot of work/industry related people for my "social"
- bear (aka Mike Taylor)
even the partial streams they offer are subscription based - you have to tell twitter what list of ids you want to arrive over the firehost

Wave would be good for show notes...anyone doing this?
- Dale
It might start working ... finally :)

With the acquisition of FriendFeed, FaceBook has brought in some powerful advocates for Google juice.
- JR Holmes
Twitter has kind of hit the post page Internet by having a (relatively) open API and allowing apps (which generate profit from the functionality of the API) to profit

I can be 100% right, but if I Tweet when you guys are asleep...

Authority only applies if you live in New York or San Francisco, have a television show, and are featured on the Twitter recommended user lists...

I can send invites individually...via brizzly
- Mike Lewis
I have 10 brizzly invites, but I'll only give it out if Jeff follows me ;)

I am a GoToAssist customer and just love it! -- i really like the reboot and reboot into safemode features.

WOW... i got broadband before Danny Sullivan??

For Wolfram Alpha, it needs to become more semantic, with the ability to accept natural language search and return result based on nonsensical input, such as "DO ANYBODY NO WHY..."

I use Chrome for Mac right now. Pretty speedy!
- Mike Nayyar
most likely it's hard because they don't have full time mac devs on the team
- bear (aka Mike Taylor)
Is it me, or does Gina's camera shake a lot?
- Charles LePage
So google can't hire some full time mac devs??? Its not like they are cash strapped.

I saw a "Go Google" billboard Thursday at Denver International Airport.

Tease: This Week on TWiG, Danny Sullivan from Search Engine Land joins us to talk about Google's social search, Jeff Jarvis invents Howard Stern 3.0, and Gina Trapani sorts by magic. This Week in Google is coming up next...

I work in NYC and stay in hotels weeknights. I'm always looking for new places to eat. I would love an AR app that overlays Yelp ratings, or perhaps more importantly, health code violations as reported on everyblock.com.
- Steve J
Steve, Layar does have a Yelp layer, actually. No health code violation layer that I know of, though.
- Trent Olson
I tried out this application I downloaded last night and was pleasantly surprised by the results. I didn't get to try out all the effects and settings but in general it's pretty nifty. Not sure I like the Fisheye effect (I know Ilia did not like the pics of her taken with it), but the others seen here are rather nice lo-fi effects. The application is free, fast and hasn't force closed yet. Recomended!
- Adrian
I tried it out. Not bad. I'm gonna do some test shots tomorrow when there's some sun :)
- imabonehead
BTW, I checked the settings, and it defaults to 720x480 resolution. The highest resolution it does is 960x640. That's kinda small but ok for web posting I suppose. Lo-fi is the operative term here. I meant to take it outside and point it at the smokey skyline here in LA or some flowers but it was just one of those stay inside all day kinda days. :)
- Adrian
I like how the picture of our neighborhood looks like an old postcard.
- Anika
It is pretty neat. Next time I will get up off my office chair to take the photos, lol. *Maybe* go outside.
- Adrian
Well, the tape on the window makes it look like a postcard stitched back together. In fact, if our car wasn't there, it would almost look like the 70s.
- Anika
These are beautiful, Adrian! Normally I wouldn't be able to get past your gorgeous kids, but the 70s postcard photo (yeah, Anika, I got your back!!!) and the portrait of you are especially good.

"On Friday we told you about a company called Mobilizy who announced two new projects for Android : Wikitude 3 and Wikitude.Me. We’ve just spotted a 3rd project the company is pursuing and it combines your typical GPS navigation turn-by-turn software/app with Augmented Reality concepts. The result is an app called Wikitude Drive"

"Listen from Google Labs brings podcasts and web audio to your Android-powered device. It lets you search, subscribe, download and stream. By subscribing to programs and search terms it will create a personalized audio-magazine loaded with fresh shows and news stories whenever you listen. In this release Listen is indexing thousands of popular English-only audio sources."

Interesting way to approach podcasting... by subscribing to search terms. Not sure that will work out so well.
- Daniel Sims
nice! Daniel, I think it is a great idea, I have a hard time finding podcasts, but it would make it easier for me to use search terms.
- Tim Hoeck
just downloaded it. searched for NPR and started playing right away. Pretty cool.
- Randy Ksar
This is a fantastic app. I'm already thinking of ditching BeyondPod and using Listen for everything. Listen has such a great seamless UI. It's a pleasure to use.

Can someone upload APK file somewhere? Many people would cheer to that I'm sure. :-)

"No - that's not what I'm saying. The BBC, by their own admission, is building something primarily designed for the BBC (and their developers). I absolutely have no problem with this and even mentioned as much in the discussion - that is their prerogative. However, their original impetus for creating the library is flawed: They wanted support for two specific browsers (IE 5.5 and Safari 1.3) that jQuery no longer supported. Instead of filing bugs, providing patches, or even contacting us to begin with they decided to go off and spend (at least) two years constructing a completely separate library. I'd probably be more receptive if Glow was truly bringing something new to the table - but it's not. The BBC wanted to implement a library that they could control through-and-through rather than participate in any Open Source process. If I feel anything it's not anger or concern about the new library is more of a sadness. I just feel bad that they're putting so much effort into something that..."

I like having each service as an individual contact. Much easier. Can we see the same for Pownce?
- Chris Nixon
Well, IMified has taken bot to a next level.. I even created a customized option to check my google calendar appointments for today (a quick schedule for today) by interacting with bot! Not sure, if they have one for Pownce..

One year later. Just bumping this because it's the one year anniversary of the only item on FriendFeed to get more than 400 likes. (452 at the moment)

US intelligence agencies are worried that terrorists might start to use new communication technologies like the blogging site Twitter to plan and organise attacks.

The Army should send a time machine back and defund DARPAnet. Afterall the Internet is the greatest threat to our national security when used by the terrorists.

Russian security firm Elcomsoft has released software that uses Nvidia GPUs to speed up the cracking of WPA and WPA2 keys by a factor of 100. Since the software allows them to network thousands of PCs, this anouncement effectively signals the death of wireless networking in business networks; any network handling sensitive data should start using VPN encryption on machines connecting over Wi-Fi networks, or stop using these networks altogether."

"The future, they said, is in Web services that do not require users to change their behavior by, say, adopting a new service or transferring all their friends’ contacts from one service to another. One example, said Mr. Kelton, is FriendFeed."
