"Best cashier ever is Maureen at Walgreens on Belmont/Broadway on Chicago's north side. I think she has a form of autism or tourettes. She talks out the entire purchase process even calling out the dead presidents on the bills. She's one of the quirky folks I miss from Chicago. And God help ya if you're getting Tampax or condoms." - Andy Wibbels

"I enjoyed both very much. Omnivore seems to peter out towards the end as he repeats the 'how to eat from this agricultural model' for the third/fourth time. I liked Fast Food Nation because it made me feel like a disgusting human being for participating in the industrialized process of foodmaking. Though the chapter in Omnivore talking about 'corn as commodity' is pretty mind-blowing." - Andy Wibbels

Google Reader's Like Feature Rewards Taking Your Time - http://www.techcrunch.com/2009...
But there is one very key flaw to the idea of Google Reader “likes” — if you read news as it comes in, you’re likely to read it before anyone is even able to “like” it. To take that idea further, the longer you wait to read your feeds, the more useful the “likes” are as a social feature. That rewards reading stories late, which is pretty much the opposite of the real-time sharing that Twitter and the like offer. - Andy Wibbels

Some bloggers are arguing about how much 100,000 twitter followers is worth http://www.techcrunch.com/2009... I say earn trust, not buy it
The metric for trust is engagement. I'm engaging with you because I trust/like/value you. That's the really hard stuff to earn. - Robert Scoble
You're buying reach - it's a chicken or the egg scenario - do you get reach first or trust first? I think it's easier to get trust with a smaller audience. - Jesse Stay
The number of followers only partially measures the reach. - Mike Chelen
Mike, it depends on your definition of reach - Jesse Stay
Buying 100,000 followers may initially fare well, but in the long run people see through it. - Kevin Elliott
Reach should be number of eyes reading a post. One follower may read every single post, while another sees one in ten. - Mike Chelen
Earn trust over time. Buy placement when the time comes. Both can amplify. - Andy Wibbels
Scoble wins this thread big time - totally nailed it. When will people learn that relationships are not products they can buy; but rather, they must cultivate and nourish those relationships with genuine engagement which builds trust and establishes your network. We must add value and not resort to youthful playground antics of attempting to buy friends with some lunch money. - Susan Beebe
All good points, learning from experimenting with those features makes it in the end. As it could simply mean dealing with understanding the most concepts by interaction and getting the supplies needed to keep going on in this domain of expertise. - ElijahBailey-Zu of FF <0,

"His "offense" took place when he was 11. He is now 16 and looking at being put on the public registry when he turns 18, along with his picture. Under our new legislation he will not be allowed to petition to be released from his registration responsibilities, because he doesn't qualify. His parents have had him evaluated 4 times, by 4 different professionals and every single one has determined that he is a very, very LOW risk to re-offend." - Andy Wibbels
