Bookcase Pulls Out to Become Stairs
September 17 at 4:46 am - via Bookmarklet - Link
From Craziest Gadgets: "The StairCASE from designer Danny Kuo is a smart solution for people with limited space (or a lot of books!). It’s a standard bookcase where each shelf is actually a box that slides out allowing it to become stairs. Just slide out a shelf and you can easily reach the top shelf without a ladder." - Mark Trapp via Bookmarklet
This is one of those brilliant product ideas that seems stupidly obvious, but only after someone comes up with it. - Sean O'Brien
I'd still rather have a built in ladder with wheels, just so I could ride and yell "weee!" - RAPatton

That's cool!! - Lindsay Donaghe

makes so much sense - Josh Haley
Hmm -- not exactly sure this makes sense -- it would seem you lose three shelves at the bottom to gain one or two on top? - Brian Sullivan
Brian, the bottom three shelves can be filled with books. - Mark Trapp
FF isn't good for my personal finances, people keep sharing things that I'm wanting to drop money on. - Eric P
That would be the implication but looking at it and noticing that the picture doesn't include books or anything on any shelf nor a real person in the picture I am thinking that it will not work if the bottom shelves are filled. - Brian Sullivan
Brian, the shelves are on gliders, why would they not work if you put something in them? - Mark Trapp
Because you have to insert your feet into the shelf to safely ascend and descend - Brian Sullivan
Brian, they slide out, like stairs. The riser of the stairs would start at the opening of the shelf. - Mark Trapp
Maybe -- but the fact that the picture doesn't show anything real leads me to think otherwise --perhaps it is just a poor choice of illustration? - Brian Sullivan
Brian, the picture doesn't show the guy sticking his feet in the shelves: I'm not really sure why that would be an option. You don't stick your feet over the tread and into a riser in any other staircase. - Mark Trapp
Brian, it's just a problem with how far the shelves/steps are pulled out in this visual. If they were pulled out further, it would be more obvious that there was enough room for feet. - Sean O'Brien
Brian, normal bookshelves have just one horizontal shelf between rows - this looks like it has two, one at the top of each row to step on and one at the bottom of each row for the books to rest on. Brilliant concept. - Deborah Fitchett

Implying she's a mole planted here by aliens? - Logical Extremes
Yeah, there's no disappearance to the bug, really... it's just shaded such that it blends in with what's behind it when that happens to be light/white. It still looks kinda funny, but I can't imagine it being intentional. - abacab
