I really, really liked this story. It is never corny to hear how someone succeeds by the sweat of his brow. Take a few minutes to read about Albert and the tough Computer-Sci professor.

Don't become a victim of post-transaction marketing! From the page: "What these customers discovered was that they had inadvertently signed up for a monthly charge to their credit card. See, buried in the fine print was the agreement to allow a third party to charge their credit card each month ... using the same credit card information they had given previously to complete their purchase at a trusted online retailer."

Michelle wants to help you let go of websites that are not pulling their own weight. This is part three in the 31 Day Internet Marketing Make-over. From the page: "Remember that sometimes we want to keep hold of things for emotional reasons: * I've already put in so much time! * I've spent $XXX to buy the domain and build it! * I just really love this idea and wanted it to work! * I committed to the project and to not see it through would be another disappointment! But these emotional reasons for hanging on to projects aren't helpful to us, just as the Stanford study proved. They take too much mental energy - even when not working on them - and all our projects suffer as a result."

From the page: "The best way to figure out what type of game to make is to think about your guests. Do they love to sing? Are they brainy trivia-lovers? Are they more interested in traditional celebrations? You want to tailor your game to the general temperament of the gathering."

AARRGH! Benighted Browsers Break Business (almost) This article succinctly shows that you can do 99% of the right things and still miss a browser bug. The best thing about Steve's "debugging" exercise is that he checked his clients' browser use. 17% are still using outdated software! Sheesh! From the page: Don't discount cross browser compatibility even if you are making the most minor of changes. I was just looking through the buglist for IE6 and it is ridiculously long! There is no way that you can possibly learn and account for all of its shortcomings.

From the page: "When I started, I went to bidding sites and agencies, but I soon built up a clientele. These days, I don't spend much time looking for work as I have enough regular clients to keep me going. Some of my clients are escapees from low-cost outsourcing hell who have learned that it is better to pay a bit more for quality and reliability."

OMG! I can't believe no one has Stumbled this page. It's the story of how IHateMyMessageBoard.com came to be. If you really are in a hurry, here is the gist: "There are spurts of wit here and there, but more often it's the same tired, obvious jokes made over and over and you begin to want to strangle the people who quote them and reply with a smiley face. Or worse "OMG - ROFLMAO!!!!" and then a smiley face. The people are friendly, yes, but you begin to notice the undercurrents of bitchiness and passive aggressiveness. The whining. The neediness. Oh, the neediness! ..."

A no-hype post about making money with Amazon.com's affiliate program. From the page: "There are two main ways that I promote Amazon links. The first is in "Reviews" for products (the second I'll cover below in the next point). These links are where I or one of my writers will genuinely look over and test a product and give it the once over."

For all of you who are enthralled with the Queen of Daytime Talk Television, this post should disabuse you of her loftiness. What a waste...

I love this post. Not only does it have some great inspirational locales, it also includes the one that made the owner of the MillionDollarHomePage, well, a millionaire: Lying In Bed. This is the worst offender, and I wish I could have my epiphanies 10 minutes earlier - before I'm comfortably lying down. It happens to me all the time: I turn out the lights, and just as I drift off to sleep an idea hits me ...

It's time to turn up the heat on the discussion of online "relationships". I'm afraid people have begun to redefine "reciprocity" and the trend, if not checked, will continue in ways we may not want it to. Rebecca Leaman asks some serious questions in this well-written piece.

Non-profit blogging is a viable option, if you plan. From the author: "We all know that having goals are key to success. Without goals you have no idea if your efforts are producing the desired result, no way to know if changes are needed, no way to make the right adjustments and no way to know when to throw a party!" read the rest and own your blog!

From the page: "The first thing you need to accept is that your website is not invulnerable to attack. By taking on the attitude that your website will get attacked at some point, 3 things immediately become obvious. " So true. I recently read Kevin D. Mitnick's Art of Intrusion and the statement above is 110% correct!

I use two of the three clients reviewed extensively in this article. It was great to see how they stacked up against the third. Lots of gorgeous visuals!
