It wasn't so much a DROBO failure as a mismatch of unsupported drives installed in the DROBO, my bad for Twitter shorthand. My point was simply that 2 kinds of media for back up adds a layer of redundency, that just using hard drives isn't enough (for me) so I am also making DVD back-ups of my RAW files.
