Damn, I thought that was an app when I first saw it. Maybe it makes me weird, but I kind of wish it was. Anyone remember the old Windows neko.exe?
- Joel Webber
i remember Neko! this would be an awesome app. the cat could slide down like a Terry Gilliam animation :-D

"It takes just seven seconds for staff to slide down the spiralling tube from the third floor to the ground floor in the hi-tech development. And the firm Electric Works, believes the gimmick could be a winner after fitting it in Sheffield city centre's new Digital Campus. The first tenants move in next week and will have exclusive use of the building's indoor helter skelter. The office complex is the first in the country to include a slide, which is designed to take people from the third floor to the ground floor reception area in an exhilarating seven seconds. According to the building's managers, several companies have already been attracted by the unusual addition, which they insist is not a gimmick, but a way of making the block unique."

"Toby Hyam, who helped design Electric Works, described the helter skelter as a 'statement about risk-taking' adding that a lot of new businesses in the centre would be doing just that. He added: 'We have put quite a lot of thought into what this all about and we wanted to make a big effort to make this place special. We won't be putting another helter skelter in anywhere else. 'We know...

after getting used to coming down in 7 seconds, going back up would be a bitch :)
- vijay
That looks pretty cool; I wonder what the insurance overhead is for it.
- RAPatton
yay! Life's too short, frikkin live a little! Of course the litigation lunatics will probably have a field day with this one, and it'll be shut in next to no time.
- Ian May
One of my friends is from Sheffield; maybe she can sneak in and try it out for me ;-)

Imagine the 'psycho-chick' factor that must have existed back then....damn, no wonder Michael J Fox pimped out that DeLorean...he wanted to get some of that Hot Suburban Looks Like Mom stank on his hang low.
- Morgan Haley
It never worked for me, sorry to say. I just couldn't bring out enough of the charm to balance out my psychohosebeastery to appeal to the potential dates in my life.

Carine e scaricate, anche se quando le ho dovute usare, le ho ciulate proprio da qui :)

They also give away their developer tools and provide countless developer resources for free. One of more supportive companies when it comes to third-party development.
- Mark Trapp
But you must play by their rules. How selfish!
- Phil Boiarski
Commercials are hardly a reason to say they're third party developer friendly. It benefits them greatly to show that the software on the iPhone can do. They're only friendly when you do it their way. Wouldn't want to have software on there that improves on the email or web browsing experience. Not if it's not Apple software

Supposedly 6x sales for one of the apps ("Classics") after it was in TV ads: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthr... Free advertising at that scale is nice, if you get it. If you don't get picked, it still probably helps top apps in the same category... the one Apple puts in the ad isn't necessarily the best.

The audio on this one came out a lot better than I expected. The Flip Mino HD camera really rocks. I almost got him to fall on the ice.
- Robert Scoble
I think I'm gonna buy a Flip Mino HD when am going to New York in March. They haven't been starting selling it here in Norway, yet. How much should I pay for it?
- Qbat
Cool interview, Robert. Glad to know that the people behind one of my favorite sites has such great vision.
- Antigone
Nice interview about a company with great aspirational values.
- Zack Brandit
this is the "social business plan " in action, checkout threadless.com, wonder when the " corporations " will finally cotton on to the fact that people talking to people is a PR space.

I was just playing it last night - really fun. I hope they don't plan on contacting any of those addresses on my behalf. I can see that they were thinking about setting up an xbox live type of game infrastructure but they went about it all wrong. That infrastructure should be encrypted, centralized at Apple, and invite-only.
- Ernie Oporto
not sure how i feel about this. lose my contact list or lose my level 7 character when they update.
- Carlos Ayala
I made my choice and lost my contacts. I've never really liked them anyway.
- René-Pierre Corbu
It would have been easy for them to hash your contacts to implement the functionality they want.
- Sam Pullara
I'm still keeping the game. I'm sure once they apply proper security measures on their end the game will come back (and it should considering how enjoyable it is).

Since I'm not in an AT&T 3G coverage area, the only real upgrade from my current iPhone was the GPS. Not that I was planning to upgrade before, but I surely won't run out and get one. Maybe in the future if 3G expands a little more.
