I'm not sure if anything for Safari directly compares w/DownThemAll, but folx is a not-bad free download manager and will have bitTorrent as well, in the longerterm. Leech is not bad and is shareware. I did some searching awhile back and found a few (whose names escape me) that might be good, depending on your requirements. Just google or search on MacUpdate or VersionTracker. Good luck!

Run Pee Mobile iPhone app Review - The app basically tells you the best time to go the bathroom while seeing a move - so you don't miss any good parts of the movie...kind of funny but useful... - http://www.youtube.com/watch...
If you want to record video on your iPhone 3GS and aren’t happy with the built in microphone, then you could add one of these Flexible Mini Capsule iPhone 3GS Microphone’s. The Flexible Mini Capsule iPhone 3GS Microphone lets you position the microphone in a variety of different angles, and according to the guys over at Brando it will give you ten times better reception.

It definitely is!! But this claims to have 10x the qualtiy :D
- Praveen Vasudev
10x perfect is still perfect? I've been told that the iPhone's mic can only be made better with thousands of dollars of audio processing............, but of course, I'm sure this product is worthwhile..., especially being able to direct it.

That's the maximum it can get on iPhone :D

It's really annoying how I can't remove Apple apps that I never use like "Stocks". Stocks for example appears to be powered by Yahoo finance data. Does anyone know if Apple receives money from Yahoo by keeping the App on the iPhone?? I noticed that when I clicked a link in the app and was brought to Safari and was presented with this screenshot.
If the Almighty Steve Jobs deems the app to be necessary, who are we to question his judgement. All kidding aside, it's probably part of the Kernal or it's a set of apps that are locked by the OS. Maybe if you jail broke the phone, then you can remove it. Not really sure though.
- Gerard Lagana
If you jailbreak the iPhone there are methods of making the app "hidden" and no longer on your screen...but thats about it.
- Laww
On a related note, their "Weather" app is crap, too. Also powered by Yahoo! Coincidence?
- Hiro Asari
Hiro: Their Map app is powered by Google and is pretty good though...Coincidence? haha
- Mike Bracco
I just move the crap apps to my last page and forget about 'em.

Seems like some Greasekit scripts (Folders4Gmail and Gmail bottom posting in replies) don't seem to be working consistently with the latest Safari and Webkit nightly. Anyone else running into these problems?
"Whether you prefer Linux, Windows, or Mac OS X, you can probably get almost everything you need done with your chosen OS. However, sometimes a task demands an OS that you are not currently using. That's where virtualization programs like Sun Microsystem's VirtualBox 3.0 come in. What is it? VirtualBox is an open-source virtualization program which lets you run guest operating systems with your native desktop operating system. For instance, if you need Windows to run Quicken, but prefer Linux for all your other work, VirtualBox enables you to bring up Windows and Quicken without leaving your Linux desktop......"

Would you believe that I use VirtualBox in order to do just that, run Quicken in Linux.

"Elecom has brought out a series of docks for the iPod Nano called Soundblocks that are perhaps the most good-looking ones in the mini-dock category. They measure only 2 x 16mm, and are available in atleast a dozen appetizing colors - just so that you can match your iPod with the appropriate one. Seriously, what more could you want? Well, I for one, would like to know if they sound as good as they look. The speakers are priced at around $42."

Well, it's a bit of a linkbait because the title looks like it will be bankrupt by 2013, but the articles states that Nokia might have lost half it's smartphone market share under optimal conditions for Apple and worst conditions for Nokia. I do think they have to make some pretty amazing smartphones if they want to compete for my money.
- TobiasVerhoog.com
Nonsense. Nokia is vastly popular outside of the U.S. and its latest smartphones are selling like hotcakes (Nokia 5800 in particular). Surely, it will slowly lose some of its market share, but still remain dominant for more than 1.5 years that the article predicts. However, the key wrong assumption there is that Apple's share is going to preserve its growth rate for years to come, which seems naive at best.
- Pavlo Zahozhenko
Nokia's strength lies in its hardware, still not quite sure if that alone can sell devices because last time I checked, the average user does not even look at specs (maybe how many MP the camera has). They need more of a wow factor to entice a bigger audience especially here in the US (where I currently reside). Apple got people to upgrade from their old Motorola razors to iPhones. Even...

A lot can happen in a year. Nokia could introduce a game changer in that time. It's probably unlikely, but companies this big don't exactly roll over and die without a major attempt at innovation.

"Apple has just released Safari 4.0.2. The security announcement indicates that “An issue in WebKit’s handling of the parent and top objects may result in a cross-site scripting attack when visiting a maliciously crafted website. This update addresses the issue through improved handling of parent and top objects.” This will affect a Mac or PC, so leave the battle for another day. Download it now and protect yourself from malicious attacks."

the report goes on to note that Apple will be one of the companies who will implement Foxlink's mobile projector in an upcoming model of the iPhone. While the report suggests that Apple will include such a feature by the end of 2009, Apple seems pretty intent on maintaining its strategy of upgrading the iPhone once a year, during the Summer months. That does, however, open up the possibility of the iPod Touch receiving such functionality before the iPhone, but Apple seems intent on putting its latest and greatest features into the iPhone first, and then migrating them over to the Touch.

Can we just get some better battery life instead, or is that too much to ask?
- Joshua Schnell
add the projector and you'll get about 30 minutes!
- Dead Silence
That seems way out of line with how Apple does things. I'd be surprised to see it happen and less than enthusiastic about using it or ever seeing it used in bars and restaurants.

I've spent a bit of time using an iPhone. It's slick, but being bound to iTunes is a deal breaker for me. I hate iTunes. Also, I much prefer being able to run apps in the background with proper notifications. iPhone push notifications are a really lousy workaround. If I choose to rape my battery, well, that should be my choice.
- Christopher Carr
That might be the biggest iPhone annoyance right there -- just mount the damn drive.
- Christopher Carr
So the only thing that brings the iPhone down is a lack of mounted storage? Come on, there's more than that, right?
- Clark the Kittensquisher
Using both. iPhone is giving a much better UX while Android has some interesting facilities such as bg app. On the other hand, bg apps (e.g. chat + twidroid) are a good bet to get your battery drained at speedlight, so Apple's annoyance has some valid basis...
- Jean-Charles VERDIE
I overcame the battery life issue by plugging in at home, in the car, and at the office. A replacement battery is like $15, so I'm not worried about wearing it out.

I've chosen Android over iPhone (never had one, but tested it out intensely) because of the free market policy, the technical aspects (copy&paste from the beginning, compass from the beginning, an earlier update of video, autofocus cam), and the complete integration into the Google services. Push GMail and direct, near realtime calendar sync is a huge effort. And especially the G1 has a...

It was a really tough call as I knew the iPhone was a much better platform and user experience out the gate, but went with G1 as I made a wild guess that Android would eventually mature and become the dominant platform. I wanted to see it progress first hand from beta (G1) to dominance (???) over the course of the two year contract for the G1.
- Adrian Culici
Also, I really LIKE the look and feel of the G1. It's a miniature computer, complete with keyboard, trackball, etc!

I'm a huge evangelist for Android over iPhone. As it's open source it can be whatever you want, as opposed to the iPhone which is whatever Apple wants you to have. The plethora of handsets coming out for Android are also a fantastic sign of things to come. Personally I wanted desperately to have my physical keyboard which is why I went for the G1 instead of waiting for something prettier. All we (the Android community) need to do now is convince devs that it's a viable platform.
