Just heard this from https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtop... , the other distro I know uses Hurd is Debian. But I have never tired, got to find a day to try it out.

"With many Linux distributions receiving major updates in recent weeks and months we have carried out a five-way Linux distribution comparison of openSUSE, Ubuntu, Fedora, PCLinuxOS, and Arch Linux. We have quite a number of tests comparing the 32-bit performance of these popular Linux distributions on older PC hardware."

All testing was done through the Phoronix Test Suite. Each distribution was left in its stock configuration."

"Linux Journal's Readers' Choice Awards offer the opportunity for readers to vote for their Linux and Open Source favorites. We compiled nominations and came up with following list. If your favorite is not listed in any category, we encourage you to write in your vote (it's also okay to skip voting in categories not applicable to you). Only one vote per person, please."

Usually, I don't give any attention to Phoronix. So to this one. If you don't customize configuration/installed programs/daemons/ and you have similar build option (by distros), all the distros almost the same. You just waste your time to get those number. When they should do is to tune up with the distro's (philosophy) way, then get the number. They wasted their time, we wasted our time to read.

An Interesting article that speaks to the one virus that could find your way to your Linux Box, via the wonders of email @ http://www.geekzone.co.nz/foobar... It is to bad that it exists but of course it all depends on the person. What do you think? (via http://friendfeed.com/ubuntu1...)
Good point Alex Covic - that is indeed the best approach as it is only you and the person in the mirror that is responsible for keeping a system live and operational.
