"I’ve never been a fan of the “tactic” buzzword in social media circles, though I use it as much as you. Rather, I take the Business 101 analogy of a tactic to be a task, action, or resource allocation. Echoing the bandwagon of comments, you’re spot-on with the rest. Only thing I’ll add, Amber, is to mention mission and vision statements. The startup firm would have a vision and likely not a mission, and the established firm would have a mission and would need a redefined vision. Strategic planninfg can identify both courses of action."

"How do you categorize your billboards in that RSS reader of yours, Steven? You mentioned “Personal Development,” for instance. How many such collections do you have and do you mind sharing the names of some of them? I used to have an organizational system there by subject; but now everyone is grouped in one of a few lists that’s less specific and more vertical-based, e.g. government bloggers here, social media bloggers there. "Cheers for the plug, Danny! Much appreciated and now you’re just asking for a reciprocal shout in the space where you click my name above! I’m familiar with 60% of the sites you mention, so now I’ll have to check out the other 4… Ari Herzog´s most recent blog post …Government Data Enables Walkability, Transit Relief"

"You also need to consider where different buttons are located within ShareThis. Unless things have changed, Twitter used to be on a tertiary tab."

"Twitter is what someone sees. If John sees links, retweets, and quotes all the time and is unsatisfied with it, then it's time to unfollow those people and follow new people; or suck folks into lists and follow and engage with people on lists."

"Intriguing you think more people would tweet than add a comment. I'd argue the reverse, for it takes a blog reader to have a Twitter account in most cases."

"Good points that many should heed. As for me, I never stop. I learn a new thing every day and keep doing what I do best each day. Today, for instance, I interviewed for a part-time program management position that would be a great fit for me. So what it's a few days before Christmas? I don't celebrate the holiday so I'll keep plugging every day like it's the Ides of March."

"Great historical recap! I'd love to see a history of the non-public gas stations, e.g. the DPS-controlled pumps on Perry Way and whether other private controlled businesses have pumps for their trailers."

"I wonder what percentage of the people posting comments in response to Kristof's Facebook wall posts are the same percentage who send Twitter messages in response to tweets by Ashton Kutcher and Kim Kardashian. None of the three respond to the level their fans would like. I'll grant you there shouldn't be a formula, but if you're posting a comment in response to someone, whoever that person is and whatever medium you're using, don't you want a response, whether by the author or another commenter? Letters to the editor are published, read, and usually commented on in the form of subsequent letters to the editor. Why should anything online, formulas inclusive, be different? I don't have a MO, Valeria. If anything, I ask questions. I don't challenge. What makes you think that?"

"The problem I have with your name, as I've shared with you in the past, is you don't walk up to random people, extend your hand, and say, "Hi, I'm Boston Marketer. What's your name?" They give you the third eye. I have no problem with corporate brands using such enigmatic names, but you're a person and you tweet about a person -- and the majority of your tweets are not about marketing in Boston, are they?"

"How convinced are you that marketing needs to be the quarterback, as you put it? Recalling something I wrote a year ago about merging marketing with information technology, perhaps George Colony is right that business technology is where it should head. "Valeria, how do you feel about fan page owners such as Kristof enabling interactivity from his fans but without himself interacting back? For instance, I scrolled to an earlier wall post with numerous comments -- http://www.facebook.com/kristof... -- and I don't see his name in those comments. The presumption is he is reading them, but wouldn't you agree that the nature of interactivity and collaboration is reciprocal? Or is enabling people to comment if you don't comment enough?"

"Wonderful tips that people will enjoy reading. I have a burning question I can't find online so maybe you know: is there any way to synchronize Facebook Connect which I see on so many blogs and websites to update my page, not the profile?"

"Huh? How is the number of people you follow by stream relevant to who you follow by list? One does not necessitate the other, for the majority of those in my lists I don't follow by stream."

"I disagree that Facebook will change everything, for the bulk of its non-Twitter users think Twitter is irritating and annoying. I’ve polled my friends and other social media folks polled their friends; and the answers are universal. Rather, I think the game-changer, pardon my pun, will occur in the wake of the announced $500 million acquisition of Yelp by Google. It’s the next generation of Google Maps…and could potentially give Foursquare, Gowalla, etc a run for their money. I’m a Foursquare user and while it’s cool to be the mayor of a pub, I also like to see where my local friends are checking in. What would be neater is to view, on a mobile level, multiple checks-in together in the way Adium and Trillian allow you to see multiple IM clients in the same view."

"The intrigue of the #yeg hashtag is http://twitter.com/yeg hasn't tweeted anything but is implied as the hub of the tag. Most of the other airport codes you include at the bottom are also Twitter usernames, e.g. @pdx is about the airport and @cos and @bfl are random people. Thus, while your idea to congregate around airport codes on Twitter is noble, it can get confusing if one uses the @ and not the #."
