Trent Reznor's Twitter is pretty good. If you are going to a show, you should certainly subscribe because he gives away backstage passes left and right to his twitter peeps http://twitter.com/trent_r...
it would, but if you look, he seems to really engages on Twitter.

Some others I'd recommend with good track record of twitter used well: @lilyroseallen, @colinmeloy, @stereophonics, and the best at it besides @trentreznor, @katehavnevik

Two more that leap to mind: @imogenheap and @christt

"Reading about that remark, I'm now dying to see Aubuchon's original pitch for Caprica, before the Adama family and the other BSG continuity baggage got shoe-horned in. If you watch the pilot, it's pretty obvious the Adama clan doesn't fit - the storyline makes a lot more sense if you take them out. In the pilot, Zoe Graystone dies in a terrorist bombing, but it turns out she found a way to scan her brain and create a virtual avatar with all her memories. And then her grieving dad strives to load that avatar into a robot body, inadvertently helping to create a super-weapon. It has a certain elegance, no? Until you shoehorn in the idea that Joseph Adama's daughter could also be restored to life, based on her Facebook page and whatever other info Google can dig up. Adding the BSG elements basically transforms this story into a giant "WTF"."

"Since I started to work with Ruby, being involved in several projects, contributing, giving support or maintaining Windows version of those packages, this is the first time a bug report made my day: [#22347] One-click installer requires more than one click Enough said, irony on a side, I completely agree with the statement. Too many clicks required to install something named One-Click Installer. Thank you anonymous submitter for your feedback. :-D"

This is good. It is advice and common sense and it is not in any way sugar-coating it. At the same time the underlying message is that this is a storm to be weathered and not the end of the world. Belts are to be tightened, for sure, but there is no panic only a grim determination. I'll take that over doom-mongering any day of the week.

"In the volunteer world we often say we are looking for 3 key attributes: Talent (Ability in some useful skill); Passion (motivation to do it); and Availability (time to commit to it). In other words you need to have skills, enthusiasm, and time to dedicate to something in order to be effective. (This also applies to paid work too, but because we get paid for things it is easy to mix-up motivation with payment and forget about considering if we are passionate/motivated about the work.)"

Awesome shots. In the crazy world of internet, I first saw these pictures from the Czech republic at widelec.org before finally seeing the Boston.com website.

You know, I agree with that, Erica. I like Obama, I really do, but his email campaign is maybe a little too slick for me. And a little too focused on getting my money.
- Sia Stewart
But this guy was doing it specifically to train Gmail to put OTHER PEOPLE'S Obama mail into the spam folder.
- Kevin Fox
Okay, sorry to hijack your thread here, Kevin, but... Erica... Amen. I stopped giving out anything other than a disposable (e.g., spamgourmet) e-mail address on any "causes" web site. MoveOn -- which I now think is a pretty despicable organization for many reasons -- was particularly evil in this, obnoxiously flooding my inbox. Why are political and other organizations so clueless? If you send me 5-10 pleas for money or action EVERY DAMN WEEK, I'm going not going to support you with anything.
- Adam Lasnik
Obama my boy and everything like that, but I had to unsubscribe. I can follow him on FriendFeed or something. I told him calm that stuff down, but he just so passionate and all :)
- Rah-PM 2012
Maybe you won't, Adam, but someone else will. It's for the exact same reason that credit card companies send bulk mail advertising cards, or why the people at malls ask you to take surveys even though you always refuse. There is someone who will buy into it, and if they have to send all of that in the most annoying way possible to reach that buyer, they will.
- Michael Ryan
I don't get any of the emails you are talking about. Not a single one. :D
- Josh Haley
The guy is an idiot, because for every person that tries to train gmail one way there are people like me that click not spam to train gmail the other way.
- Vince
I agree with Vince. Trying to game the system doesn't work. Gmail most likely has a built-in mechanism to detect people like that.

Gmail may not have such a system, or it may only kick in after trouble has already been caused. Anti-spam isn't _that_ smart!

Yeah, in regard to the Obamail aspect of this thread, I have to vent that getting an Obamail yesterday that promised that, if I sign up, I can get notification of who he has chosen as his running mate FIRST, BEFORE ANYONE ELSE..... it made me wonder if he was a presidential candidate or an Apple product.

Mamet's criticism of nihilism in our society as spoken through Roma (Mamet does not see it this way btw)... : "All train compartments smell vaguely of shit. It gets so you don't mind it. That's the worst thing that I can confess. You know how long it took me to get there? A long time. When you die you're going to regret the things you don't do. You think you're queer? I'm going to tell...

great writers don't f#(% around with BLUE STATE guilt and morality... do it for yourself! wipe your own asses. there is meaning... but the victims are those that do not stand up for themselves. That is why Mamet is a Zionist. you going to be weak like Levine? you going to cry about it not being fair? screw you! get with the program. shed no tears for your enemy. it is dog eat dog! Levine is weak. He can't even steal without getting caught.

@Russellreno --really, that's so cool. I was also a competitive gymnast, and when I look at that photo of her on the beam, I know exactly what it feels like!
- Anna Haro
Anna - How did you find that photo? I noticed it was 26th on that day. Did you read the story?
- Russellreno
@ Russellreno, I just read the story right now. I found the picture last night at some ungodly hour while perusing through many gymnastics photos.
