One of my all time favorite re-enactments of a literary character has to be Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes in the BBC series. Have been re-watching a lot of this lately as our Roku/Netflix box has the whole series on demand. Jeremy Brett is everything I imagined Sherlock Holmes to be and more. David Suchet as Hercule Poirot comes close.

Awesome series on NOVA about human evolution. The second part was much better than the first. Only nit I have so far was that they produced this before the Ardipithicus find - so I think that the first bit is a little dated in some details. Looking forward to the final one next week.

My new favorite HBO show. Jason Schwartzman is great in this show and his Ted Danson's characters are hilarious.

I'm still on the fence on this show, I'm watching but after every episode I debate about removing the season pass. It still seems a little "hey, look at me being witty".

Excellent movie - just managed to see it. Kate Winslet is great in the movie and lots of the dialogue seems like it could be taking place in peoples' homes today :)

Webpass has been the best ISP that I have used so far. They provide line of sight based services which give you symmetrical 50MBps (in practice we get around 40) in San Francisco and Oakland. If you live in a building in San Francisco, then I would highly recommend getting their service for your building - very cost effective and beats the pants out of Comcast.

Somehow missed this when it came out, but saw it recently. Another classic Woody Allen - both Jason Biggs and Christina Ricci are great in the movie.

Remembered this from a discussion with some friends. Fairly interesting concept movie where four different cameras and soundtracks are presented together on screen (all telling different parts of the same story). Surprisingly you can follow the action without getting distracted - there is usually one of the frames which has the prominent soundtrack

Saw it last night! Another great Tarantino movie - not quite the Kill Bill and Pulp Fiction levels, but still great. Loved the tavern scene.

Another great beer from De Dolle. Had this at the City Beer store yesterday. Stille Nacht is still my favorite though!

Awesome SSH client for the iphone. I actually used it to log into one of our servers from a restaurant a while ago.

We have had it for a while, but recently I think the Netflix on demand collection has improved a lot. Neat little box and we also have seen a bunch of stuff from Amazon using it.

New bar from the owners of Bourbon and Branch. Same level of awesome cocktails in a more "normal" bar settings - meaning loud and crowded. They also serve beer.

I read this a little while ago. Its a great little book describing the early day of the telegraph - the author draws a lot of comparisions to the Internet bubble of 2000.

Saw this old movie last night. Great display of Roman Polanski's moviemaking skills. The movie has great sense of urgency and suspense even as the director intersperses slow scenes along with action sequences.

One my favorite episodes in the Poirot tv show starring David Suchet. He is the perfect Poirot BTW and this episode begins with this classic line: "... I was flung back into the midst of the most perversely fascinating work that there is in the world: the study of human nature ..."

Finally tried this beer - its pretty good overall. It takes a few sips to get used to the fairly sourish strong taste, but it really grows on you.

We got this a week or so ago. Very useful in the kitchen - perfect for making sauces purees etc for Indian cooking.
