I've been using Nimbuzz on my Nokia E90 for a while now and I prefer it to Fring (most of the time). The only reason I keep going back to Fring is NImbuzz doesn't allow Skypeout calls. With Nimbuzz I love the ability to take a picture from the mobile camera and send it, while in conversation.
- Bhavishya Kanjhan
I use Nimbuzz it is much more user friendly then fring. Kaltura is a great company, really great people.
- Aryeh
Hmm, not seen that before. Fring is fairly good, but definitely a bit ropey(on N95). Would be keen to see if this is any better.
- Sam
from twhirl
Sam, Im not sure about the N95 I think it's a better user interface on the Iphone
- Aryeh
I tried mimbuzz for a while on my Blackberry. Thing is though, I seldom use IM these days, except for Gtalk, which is a nice little standalone app, and Skype, for which I use iSkoot
- Ian May
Kaltura looks awesome - thanks for the Tweet Scoblizer, going to add it to my blog
- David Gosse
@Ian Yes but with iSkoot doesn't it need to dial a local number, which is okay if you have minutes as part of your plan like I do when I'm in UK, but when I'm back home in Dubai, monthly plans aren't the norm. Fring does skypeout over the data connection so all I need is a hotspot.

Brian 99% of everything is crap. That is still a lot of good videos!
- Robert Scoble
I agree 1% may be useful, but facebook have issues with UX as it is - finding and using the 1% of good apps is an issue as it is. Hope they do better in video.

If you have any questions about YouTube stats this is the guy to ask, he offers a college class in the anthropology of YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch...
- Aryeh
Are you going to post your interview, Robert?
- Mason Lee
thing is, out of those 100,000 new vids a day how many of them are dupes, how many get decent and consistant views etc. Something inside of me never likes the pure "we're getting x amount of y", all it ever shows is the volume of use. Do they have these stats showing the percentage of users taking part (is it a small minority making use of it?)... context, it's all about context :)
- alphaxion
Questions about them being good, or the UI to find them, the dupes etc only look at the situation from one end. From the other end, it does not matter how good they are, or how many times something is posted, or how many times something is watched. It's about the act of creation or the act of sharing. It's that gesture that is important to the person involved.
- Rachel Clarke
@rachel I'm talking a business sense. Getting base upload stats is one thing, looking at the proportion of users uploading said videos (uptake), patterns of use and viewing rates help to bring about a better picture of how the feature is developing etc.
- alphaxion
aphaxion. Yep, you're right. I was responding to the general tone of the discussion. You have at least 3 constituents - the 'creator' (or uploader), the viewers (their friends) and the business offering the service. I think too often a general discussion tends to focus on the viewer (about FB or YT or the others) without taking on the wider picture
- Rachel Clarke
wow, it's almost *as if* we're in a productivity crisis and people are spending their work day screwing around with social media. Almost ...
- Melanie McBride
I think Facebook should be talking about where they're planning to go and be in the next ten years. They may - I actually don't watch the company at all as a barometer of what's going on online, so if they have talked about it, I've missed it.
- Patricia
I do have to say loading videos on Facebook is much faster than YouTube.

Having no problems on this end. Receiving 5x5. The intermission hip hop is blasting through nice and bright.
- Gerald Buckley
I was just going to say they need a better DJ ;)
- Dave Pook
I think I will tune in in about an hour for the Goolge Announcement.
- Roberto Bonini
I like the choice in music during the breaks. :)
- Daynah
I made the comment because I find the music too intrusive (I hate cheesy pop) which means I turn the player down in the breaks risking missing the presentation, I could leave something more ambient on quite loud.
- Dave Pook
I watched for >1hr with only one hiccup that lasted 3-5sec. No complaints here.
- Abbas Haider Ali
Want to but not functional enough yet. What I most want is to be able to consolidate content, making use of its ability to identify the media. Essentially, my own, personal aggregation utility. I don't think Ubiquity will be capable of it but i might be wrong. I haven't dug into it yet.
- ·[▪_▪]·
I'm using it but I never remember to use it. Im so used to my old ways.
- Aryeh
I resent that remark David. ;) Some of us have unfortunate PC fascinations.
- Steve Spalding
I think you're going to have to prove that outrageous statement
- David Knight
i don't think most bloggers are mac users necessarily, but most computer users are not bloggers either.
- Cee Bee
Agreed. Seems like a Mac-elitist mentality.
- Olaf
from feedalizr
I know this really hurt their chances for me as a mac user to get this when it does actually come out for mac. Firefox=win Firefox add-ons=win
- orionstarr
Dang, bro, did you think before posting that statement? Where's your numbers to back up that statement? How do you define blogger?
- Jason Shultz
from twhirl
Macs have always been the computers more in touch with a media savy market. It makes sense that most bloggers i'm sure use a Mac. Call me an elitist, I just like high quality products.
- orionstarr
The underlying reality is that the vast majority of web users don't use a Mac. It's a simple case of catering to the majority of the market and not the niche.
- Olaf
from feedalizr
Well being a Mac user/Apple snot myself, from a business perspective it's probably a sheer numbers thing....windows users are easy to tap into because they make up a huge part of the home computing market AND most of the workplace environments in corporate....at least in my experience in tech over the last 12+ years.
- Rich Harris
Not exact an official launch, it is beta after all. Maybe google was too excited to compete. :D
- Ron
Of course its a numbers thing. I'm not an idiot.
- David Risley
@Rich BINGO! As much as we all hate Windblows, the underlying reality prevails
- Olaf
from feedalizr
Says me with both a Windblows laptop and Mac in front of me
- Olaf

Having used a Mac for over 10 years I can give a good testimonial why I think it is a high quality product. No crashes, No Viruses, Doesn't slow down, Interface is lovely. My experiences with windows have been, virus ridden, computer bogs down and the interface is horrid.
- orionstarr
Their are more ants in the world than people, does that make them superior?
- orionstarr
@David I think you were missing the word "smart" - most "smart" bloggers are Mac users (.....ok people, i'm just kidding so RELAX - it's like you are all in a PC/Mac commercial or sumptin')
- leigh himel
Yes, I'm finally proud to have a PC now. Suck it up Mac users!!
- Imran Hussain

At the end of the day: whatever gets the job done as easily as possible.

i'm quite happy with the launch - thanks :)
- Morgan
I'll go with most Bloggers are heavier Firefox users, but I serious doubt Apple has gotten to the point where 'most bloggers are Apple users' ?? except maybe in the Bay area :)
- Charlie Anzman
An interesting claim, no doubt. what do most blog readers use?
- JustinLL
from twhirl
Maybe Google was smart and didn't because they knew no true Apple loyalist would dare use a non apple product. Apple has Safari, why break ranks and use something from a competitor? If it's made by Apple, it's surely the best.
- Jason Shultz
from twhirl
I can use either and like both. But price and being associate with Mac users with self esteem issues keeps me from buying one.
- Jason Shultz
from twhirl
I use Ubuntu. Maybe they should have launched Chrome on Linux first. The most tech savvy people use Linux or another Unix derivative. ;-)
- roel
not on Mac over here! (but feel free to buy me one)
