Purpose: exploring the egotistical side of social tools, and naturally, talking about things people might not want to talk about in public because it makes you like an egomaniac. However, it might be not be that egomaniacal at all. - Eric Rice
I only check those tabs occasionally to make sure I'm not ignoring anyone. I sparked off a pretty good convo once, all the big dawgs showed up...I missed the whole thing... - Rahsheen Porter
Jesus Christ do people really do that? - Jim Stanger
Most of us don't get nearly as much action on our Replies and Me tags as you, Eric ;). My default is my Friends tab. - Annie Boccio
As a note: I only follow 28 people (doing the opposite of Twitter) and it's not terribly overwhelming, so mechanically, I have no excuse for ignoring it. So there needs to be some chart or line graph of something to map exceptions, lol. - Eric Rice
I monitor nothing but my Friends tab in Twhirl for both FriendFeed and Twitter - Douglas E. Welch via twhirl
I check everyone page all the time. - Robert Scoble
Friends is default to me too - Joe Dawson
friends tab all the way - I primary use FF to give some love to what my friends are posting - FF is a conduit between the people in my social network :) - Steve Lawson via twhirl
I default to Friends, don't check the Everyone tab too often (maybe once a day?) 'coz it's got a lot of other language stuff in it, and only a "search?q=Yuvi" when I'm in a time crunch - Yuvi
How do you get utility out of FF and the like if you don't venture out? that said, it might be nice if FF could notify me if someone comments on something i've written, then i'd never need the ME tab. - Christian Anderson
Friends tab all the way for me. Only click on "me" if I'm curious about any replies or need to find a comment I left. - Craig Eddy
Hardly ever check everyone tab. It has to be a very boring day for me to do so. - Nicholas Helke
i'm always on the friends tab. I already know what i'm posting so I don't need to look it over. - Justin
According to firefox3, i come to the me tab (that's what I have bookmarked) and the discussion tab most often. I use the friend tab a lot though and use it more with the greasemonkey scripts I've installed. I really need to write that "how I use friendfeed" post. - Jason Toney
Friends view only. I figure I pretty much know what I've been saying! - Simon Bisson
OMG I only check Me then I'm back to page 11 and missed anything I started and wanted to make sure I didn't miss anyone. Always on Friends. - Cyndy
oh, and much like twitter, I stay away from the everyone tab. Too much noise. - Jason Toney
To help get the conversation back on track, who checks the ME or REPLIES tab? (This is to prevent the 3242934809 replies that say "I check the Friends tab"... Thanks, got that. :) - Eric Rice
Christian: Brightkite did this with the amazing 'mentions' tab, one of those twitter-pro features. since @you @him @her is only visible to @you under replies, not @him or @her. Ok, that was too retarded to type, sayin. I get loads of utility out of FF, socially and as Feedburner 2.0 heh. - Eric Rice
I only look at replies to see if I missed a reply (in twitter). here, I look at the me page once or twice a day similar to replies. Otherwise, I am parked on the friends page. - Rob Diana
Okay, I do a search with q=Yuvi. That finds all references to my Likes/Comments, as well as other unseen posts where people had referred to my name. It's like a super Me tab. - Yuvi
I only watch for replies from you, Rice :) - John Swords
I am almost aways on the friends tab. If I wanted ego, I'd go to Twitter. - AJ Kohn
I always stay on the friends page. I have no interest in what I've said. On Twitter I check replies if I have been away from the computer to see if I owe anyone a response. - Adrienne Van Houten
I haven't read all the answers on this thread - I promise I will - and I'm sure that they're all thought provoking and what-not, but my knee jerk reaction is "I sure hope not." I've come to loathe the word in all it's meanings. And I used to use it *liberally* .... with all it's meanings. But it's too easy, especially for a black person, to get made the hypocrite. As with Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick who "buried the word last year", and then was found "playing the dozens" with it via text. - Barry Wynn
i always keep my friend's tab open, i know what i posted and i'm in no danger of anyone replying to me here. - faboo mama
I start on the friend's tab and then click through to most of my friend's individual feeds to make sure something interesting hasn't been crowded out. - Kyle Hebert
I like to look at friends page for stuff that came in through other people (friend of friend, or just friend). When nothing much comes through I will look at the everyone page. When I feel inspired I will search for stuff that I find interesting and 'like' that and 'comment' on interesting things. - Peter Stuifzand
I check the me tab when I've not been on the site in a while, just in case I've missed new comments on my posts or whatever the hell these things are called. - Erica Baker
I go to friends - read the first page - go to me to see if any responses - then back to friends for a few pages - then check a few individual pages - then back to twitter. - Lucretia Pruitt
I periodically check the Replies tabs to make sure I didn't miss part of a conversation. - John Federico
friends or rooms, me tab maybe 3-4 times in all - Ro (Lilyhill)
Barry, you posted to the wrong thread. Can you copy paste it below? Thanks! - Eric Rice
BTW, in this instance 'me' on FF and 'replies' on twitter almost have the same functionality. It's the place where you see comments/conversation to or @ you. Much like the Flickr page for Recent Comments, etc. It seems like some folks are misunderstanding what the ME tab serves (in addition to, of courses, it's where your posts are (not applicable in twitter context). - Eric Rice
Tabs? I use the rss feed for friends (with meself hidden) and only occasionally clear the me and me with discussion feeds. Every once in a while I'll hit the 'best of' buttons ... - Ashton

its like have a road suddenly with a oneway sign only ..well u get the idea correct ? - Peter Dawson
Back when I was using Twitter regularly, I was on mobile Twitter. Mobile Twitter didn't have its own Replies page (it sent you to the full client), so I got in the habit of using Tweetscan - later Summize - to see replies. Perhaps not as you scroll by. Maybe marking things you click or perform an action on as seen and then have a way to mark all as read, like GReader or Twhirl? - Voyagerfan5761
Perhaps scroll by could be an option, as it is now in Google Reader for items in expanded view. Some of us wish to reduce our clicks to an absolute minimum -- more information, less effort. - Sean McBride
Yeah, options would be a good thing. Let's hope this one gets implemented. :-) - Voyagerfan5761
Ohhh, mark all read then only show new bits. - Ashton
Sean: Thanks for the thought. Lets drop the old stuff... - Ansgar Wollnik
I still think scrolling past wouldn't work. It's too much. What if I'm looking for something I read a minute ago but 5 new things have come in. I haven't ready them yet but I have to scroll past them to get to the older item. Now they're read when they weren't. I'd still rather have a "new items since last visit/refresh" option, maybe couple that with a "read later" option. - xero
xero -- I was suggesting the automatic mark as read while viewing/scrolling merely as an option for people who like to process information really, really fast, at lightning speed, with minimum friction and redundancy -- definitely not for everyone, I know. Another possibility is manually marking individual items as read, or manually marking all the items on a page as read with a single user click. A simple toggle click should make read items visible again, so you needn't worry about items disappearing for good. - Sean McBride

Is this the kernel of an idea for a sister service to Twitter? Sippr: What are you drinking? It could support images of the drinks, links to recipes. http://tinyurl.com/6mhqv6 is taking things up on the listening front. Listnr: What are you listening to? - Brian

just imagine when it used to say only 100+ - MG Siegler
I've been so busy here, mine should have a lot of zeros in it. :) I have not yet mastered the art of participating in social media the way I'd like and still get all my blog work done. - David Risley
http://userscripts.org/scripts... if you have greasemonkey, it will :) - Tim Hoeck
scary too, just installed it, 12000 unread! - Tim Hoeck
@louis how much of the items/feeds to you actually "mark all as read"? - Stepan Mazurov
Wouldn't it look intimidating when you can see that you have 99,999 or more posts unread? I'll probably just reach for the "Mark All as Read" button. - Winston Teo
I've tried that script never seemed to work for me, but I've always seen that as a good thing, I really don't want to see those stats - BCK
Amen! Google 1000+ and Bloglines 200 both bug me - Ashton
Stepan: I don't ever mark all as read. - Louis Gray
I wish I could figure out a better way to handle feeds than Google Reader - Rahsheen Porter
David, as far as I know, it just causes too much extra load on their servers to show the exact numbers of the unread items. But from a reader's point of view, I do think it could have been scaring if after a vacation you get more than 10K of unread items - I'd rather have some uncertainty and hope that such items can be handled at all :) - Svetlana Gladkova
Louis: How many feeds you subscribe to? And how much time do you spend in Reader per day? - David Risley
I wish that I could keep my G-Reader at -0-. It rarely happens. - Mathew A. Koeneker

LiveJournal: Just because I use it. It happens to have a big base, though I doubt most of them would convert, so I really have no case. But I'm first, that has to count for something. ;P - xero
Newsgator clippings folder (i.e. FeedDemon shared items). Because not everyone uses Google Reader, and RSSMeme & ReadBurner refuse to show us newsgator users any love :( - Glenn Slaven
HypeMachine - Rafael Robayna
I should add the one I want: uStream.tv. Going to be huge in a few months when they livestream the Republican National Convention - Ben Parr
Skitch - Duncan Riley
+1 for Hypemachine. - Iain Baker
I'll second Glenn Saven's request for NewsGator clippings. However, you can always add them yourself since they're exposed as an RSS feed. - Nick Bradbury
spout.com - as far as I can see FF don't have any movie related services, and if they're going to start somewhere, I hope they start with the one I use ;) - d@vid seaward
Definitely Toluu. Besides the recently played tracks a lot of people have, Toluu is definitely the number one feed with my subscriptions that's being fed as a blog. Actually, that's probably a pretty good metric: what service is piped through the Blog service more than any other? That's the one you should implement next. - Mark Trapp
Better support for last.fm, specifically the ability to configure a stream of recently played tracks (rather than just loved tracks). Right now I do this via the blog feature, but this is hard to hide. - Ontario Emperor via fftogo
I'd like to see support for Xbox Live, Fairtilizer.com and Jamendo.com. Would be nice. I do not depend on it, it's just sites I use. - Carlo Zottmann
+1 for Better support for last.fm - Alessandro
I wouldn't want to see continuous stream of Last.fm songs in FriendFeed since that would waste resources and make it more bloated. Anyways, there could be somewhat better support for Last.fm, Maybe pulling of song cover image from it could be enough for many? - Daniel Schildt
utterz and tripit because utterz is like an audio blog and tripit tells people when i travel - Rob Williams
Rob, I am completely biased but I would also love to see TripIt added! :) Until the FF guys find the bandwidth to formally add support though you can make this work by turning on your public activity stream on your profile page and add your profile URL as a Blog. It's not perfect, but it seems to work pretty well (I've been testing it for a few weeks now). Enjoy! - Andy Denmark
vi.sualize.us and ffffound because they are both great image bookmarking services and both provide media rss feeds so they wouldn't be too hard to implement - Rafael Robayna
I'm absolutely going to create a real poll for FriendFeed. Maybe they'll use it to see what they'll add next. - Ben Parr
Ben: Good idea. - Russellreno
Kyte.tv and Qik. - Robert Scoble
Toluu++. It's a bit chatty and It'd be nice to quarantine via hide and a ?service= feed. - Ashton
I'd like the service added where it takes a feed, uses the fav icon of that site and just displays the feed. this way, 80% of all possible requests would be done ... - Nicole Simon
Livejournal++. In particular, support for reading a Livejournal friends page and commenting on Livejournal posts from Friendfeed. - Morton Fox
The ability to add custom services via a ff public xml spec - Mic
Please add Anobii and a better support for Last.fm and for Tumblr - Alessandro
Daniel Schildt - re seeing a continuous stream of last.fm songs in FriendFeed, my followers already see this today. As a "blog" (RSS feed). And some of them HATE this, because to hide this they have to hide ALL of my blogs. If all recently played tracks could appear as a last.fm service, then my followers could hide that and still read my blogs. (Of course, another solution is selective blog hiding, but that's outside the scope of the "service to add" question.) - Ontario Emperor via fftogo
maybe support for Wakoopa. - Rahul Das via fftogo
