Random observation: My first negative interactions on both Twitter and Google+ involved being told that I've only gotten where I am because of "bullshit diversity programs" #postracialworld
That thinking ONLY works if you had to list your ethnicity on the top of your exams. At the most simplest thinking, diversity gets someone into a program but they still have to do the work and pass the tests

Well, considering affirmative action has been illegal in the State of California since 1996 and that Filipino Americans were excluded from affirmative action in the late '80s anyway, the factual merit of the accusations seem suspect. (I was accepted at UC Berkeley for undergrad in 1994 and at UCSD for residency in 2004) But it is interesting that that was the first place certain people on Twitter and Google+ wanted to go.

FTR, I think affirmative action is an excellent way to help disadvantaged minorities and to minimize the deleterious effects of privilege. (I don't diss Colin Powell from being a beneficiary of affirmative action, I diss him because he fucking lied to us about Iraq)
