I don't know what possessed me to drive out to the freaking desert to go to the casino. It's obscenely hot. There are too many damn people.

Yeah, I've vowed never to drive to Vegas ever again. I only go by plane, and when I'm there, I walk, take cabs, or take the monorail. I've wasted way too much time and gas on both the Vegas strip and on I-15.

:) We were just talking about that because Monique drove up. I think the last time we drove up was when my best friend had her baby. That was 2003. Never again, though I do tend to rent a car while there so I can see my friends and hit my favorite off-Strip places. I haven't been out to Cabazon since maybe '01 or '02, right when they were doing all the renovations. I must say, I'm a little more partial to the casinos in Temecula. They're cleaner and smell less of smoke.

Yeah, the breaking point was one trip where it took me twelve hours to get back from Vegas. Never again. I never appreciated how much better the casinos in San Diego County are until today.

I haven't been to many of the California casinos since they got more opulent. Some of them literally used to be tents. But it's still not Vegas.
