MDMA (ecstasy), mushrooms and LSD stimulate mainly serotonergic neurons (several places in the brain), and does not directly stimulate the mesolimbic reward systems (which is why they are not addictive). https://plus.google.com/u...
Meanwhile, THC *does* stimulate the dopaminergic mesolimbic reward system....

My weed-head friends would be totally normal and sober until someone brought up weed and then that would be all they could talk about until they scored some. They would obsess until they were stoned.

Actually the MDMA thing isn't strictly true, because--being chemically related to amphetamines--it does have some adrenergic properties that can stimulate the dopaminergic mesolimbic reward system, which is why I know a few people who burnt out their serotonergic neurons when we were in college. But LSD is pretty much a pure serotonergic agonist.

Yeah, I can see there being some addictive properties to MDMA/MDA/etc. But LSD? It'd be a horrible existence to be addicted to that.
