"Far out are you rocking the radar, woman.. haha!
That's brilliant... I had a feeling about that one.......
If you're up for a distracted chat, I'm around..." - Vanessa
"Being a tad fuzzy of head right now, the asterisk quotient was too heavy for my poor squinting eyes.
Fuck that shit.
Who the hell is embarrassed by swearing, other than your mother and workmates who pretend to be? I mean, really. I get so tired of tippy toes....
Unfortunately, outside my house... these are pretty much the only people in my life. Except I can swear at work, too... except in front of the nice Christian lady...
Funny, my mother and I were discussing the other night how we both felt odd saying "BUGGER!" in front of her... and she is utterly well behaved. Annoyingly so....
The perils of a tiny workforce..." - Vanessa
"Hey, maybe you're becoming a true Aussie....
.. you know, in the mateship sense...
That isn't meant to be flip. I feel the same way, but maybe not hit as hard... I cried my eyes out multiple times last week when Rob Guest died. Tearing up now at the thought, but nobody else gave a shit. Different things affect different folks...
Fuck, it looks like I'm making it all about me again.... What I'm saying is just that there are some stories that hit home more than others...
And you know I also can't stand that RIP thing... but what else can you say? Sometimes you can find words...
I can only hope she didn't suffer too much... and my love to her family.. all of it. Oh..." - Vanessa
"Yeah, I felt a bit crap for tacking on my bit about HECS on there at the end in retrospect... should've left it. It was beautiful alone.
But hey, if you've got something to say..." - Vanessa
"Haha, no, but maybe... rooting is slang for fucking in Australia. We always giggle when we hear you say it...
I'm rooting for them! Oh ARE you now? teehee
There are many contexts in which this works...as you can imagine..." - Vanessa
"I got that wrong? My bad... Yes, 9% is for super, you're quite right. I was thinking as I typed that... "fuck, that's a lot".. haha.
I'm still all for it. It could go up half or one percent, I reckon. All things considered. Well, maybe not right now... heh. In better times it might help where it's needed.
Who are you? Real names don't add up to people you might know sometimes..." - Vanessa
"I know, honey. I know. The rest of the world is "rooting" for you... I put that in inverted commas because it means something quite different here... ahem. Haha.
But 80% of Australians want Obama in power. That would translate well to the rest of western civilisation, I think...
I feel for you. I really do." - Vanessa
"Well, we have a certain percentage taken out of our pay for the Medicare levy... 9%, I believe. Nobody even questions it. It was initiated in the mid 70's and we all take it for granted now. Australia would probably sink without it. Anybody, no matter their income is eligible to claim and have free health care. Thanks to a few terms of conservative govt, it's not as free as it was, but still I can visit the doctor and claim 50% back on medicare. Also, it has saved my life... You can stay in a public hospital here for free and there have been times I've no other option. I have private health insurance, but it's crap, really. And you always have to pay a lot, despite the ridiculous premiums. It just gives you the option of going "private", in terms of hospitals and choosing your doctors. I know a lot of people have to wait for elective surgery in public hospitals and emergency rooms are packed, but for fuck's sake... it's all free! People are never satisfied.... I think it could work..." - Vanessa
"It's true, but I see "socialist!" and "communist!" bandied about a lot...
It bothers me... I wasn't meaning to lump you in there, I'm sorry if it seemed that way..
I'm just trying to make a point about healthcare, really... and I saw a video of a stream of republicans today, abusing a line of democrat demonstrators and that's pretty much all they yelling out... it went on for over 5 minutes, edited, and they just came across as so bigoted and uneducated. This is not you, again! I don't even live there...
I just want people to see the big picture. I wish they'd take the word "socialised" of so called Socialised health care... It's not socialism. It works here very well...and in a lot of other countries..." - Vanessa
"Haha! It was momentary, as it always is... and quite often...
... but you know, every day I leave for work and come home, they are curled up together on the bed... all warm and lovely... like yin yang... it thrills me every time..." - Vanessa
"Oh, btw... that's cool about the Chumbawumba song. I missed that part of the comment first time round....oops! Dontcha hate it when you lose good stuff like that..." - Vanessa
"More for the reason that they're much harder to relate to. I guess the upside is that we wouldn't be invited to any group tumblr meets! hehe." - Vanessa
"I had it on mp3 until my hard drive carked it. I wonder if I can find it again....
OH, the kids. Speaking of which, looking at some of the Australian tumblrs on that reblogged list from yesterday makes me feel oooold, man. They're nearly all under 21!" - Vanessa
"Shine On You Crazy Diamond.. or something similar. I might take a photo of it for 365 today so you can see the cover... It's pretty good. Lots of anecdotal stuff from people who knew him, including family and the like." - Vanessa
