Here's a tumblr (aka longer than a tweet) critique I wrote of the @NYTimes piece on the recent spate of arrests http://blog.audaciaray.com/post...
Arrest just makes peoples' lives harder, it doesn't get them out of sex work. Actually makes it harder for them to do so if they want to
Are people really puzzled about why arrest doesn't end prostitution? Sex work is economic activity, not "crime," though law treats it as one
Ugh, so problematic that trans women street workers are used as "color" in this piece, but not otherwise referenced
Piece has horrendously transmisogynistic lede http://www.nytimes.com/2012.... Email reporter albaker@nytimes.com and nytimes@nytimes.com about it.
Another day, another misguided article. NY Times covered recent end demand inspired arrests of johns, wonders why there's still prostitution
Home from amazing five days of vacation: food, sex, history walking tours, and bad taxidermy. Plunged immediately into manic work mode.

RNC is where I made best money ever. Subway series made phones go quiet, guys too busy with the game. Anecdotal non-data, of course.
Maybe people concerned about influx of sex workers to sports events should look at gatherings, like the Republican National Convention?
4. Bringing attention to this "injustice" and courting "save PP!" donations is likely part of a fundraising strategy.
3. We need an analysis of the obsession with keeping mega-NGOs funded, while small, community-based orgs and services struggle
2. both Komen and PP are horribly cis-centric orgs that have long histories of discrimination.
Ok, so Komen: 1 this isn't about one funder. Funders discriminate vs abortion + sex worker services + trans women all the time. See: GATES.
Plotting my submission to @gvaids2012, two weeks til the deadline! I'm doing an audio installation. http://aids2012.org/globalv...

Important to note that condoms as evidence is NOT used against any random person carrying condoms, its part of racist, transphobic policing
The condoms-as-evidence tactic is most often used by police against trans women of color, it's one more way to criminalize
In NY and many other cities in US and beyond, police can stop people, confiscate condoms, use them as evidence of prostitution
Campaign to end use of condoms as evidence of prostitution in NY state is ramping up. We'll be armed with a study, & prepping for lobby day
Whoa, my dance card for this spring is really filling up. Esp excited about collab on advocacy work.
However, I also think that looking only at stats on HIV transmission and excluding stats about other STIs is problematic.
Current "condom optional" company policies often create pressure on actors to perform without condoms (which is, you know, not real consent)
In the past, I've advocated for condom use in porn bc performers should not be discouraged from using them by producers and the biz at large
