As an educator, I saw NCLB as a miserable misconception of education on the part of the Bush Admin. Nice to know that Obama is continuing Bush's failures as well as undoing his successes.

Maria says graphic designers are all taught to hate Papyrus. Something about its lack of balance or the like. You'd have to ask her, but they seem to be pretty passionate about it.

I googled papyrus hate. Looks like it is mostly because it is trendy, and appeals to the masses that know nothing of the wonders of typography.

O that I could enter the ranks of that Chosen Few and drain the vats of said esoteric knowledge!

A very good article on what the West is doing wrong in Africa. . . and China is doing right. Warm-hearted condescension and pity never help people get back on their feet.

I posted this for Tim as part of our ongoing discussion about the treatment of political parties by the media. While number 4 is identified as Republican in the first sentence, I had to Google number 5 to find out he was a Democrat.

I have heard it said that the British Press is doing a better job of covering American Politics than we are these days, and I am finding it to be a fairly accurate statement.

This article was so ego-centric and self-absorbed it was sickening. Here is a man who radiates an almost morbid obsession in finding his own identity and self-expression. I was also intrigued with how casually and inexplicably he abandoned his earlier Ref0rmed views. No real reason is given. For him, and so many others I can think of, it was simply a fad that they went through. And like all fads, it eventually grew dull.

Substitute the religious terms in this story with terms from another religion and see how much sense it still makes. "Englandistan" here we come.

Ha! today on friendfeed we love instead of like!

The full article from what I posted earlier. Absolutely worth a careful read. I just scanned, but I'll be certain to read more when I have slept.

The really interesting thing here, though, is that you can see how heterogenous China really can be. Beijingers are horrified by this; Cantonese are nonchalant. Oh, can you come up with a LOLCATZ (sp?) in celebration?

Wow! I actually just had a conversation about eating cats and dogs with my friends from GZ (Dawn and Chloe). Dawn said that dog's meat smells really good. Chloe mentioned about how dogs are too cute to be eaten.
