Wayne, the reason kids' hair gets so tangled (so I am told) is that the outer structure, the cuticle, is not yet fully keratinized and so has weak spots where it can grab against itself (kind of like velcro). The best was to help tangles is to use a shampoo that is not too alkaline (baby shampoo is the worst) because it swells the hair and makes it rougher and then to use a detangler that is slightly acidic. Silicone smoothing serums can also be helpful. - Aura Mae
