For once we hear the real truth as to why the GOP is blocking President Obama's health care initiatives. It is the same reason that they opposed Social Security and Medicare. Powerline broadband could easily bring broadband service to rural areas that currently have no hope of getting it and cheap broadband for all of us. I would not be surprised if cable/fios companies lobbied the FCC to kill the development of this technology. - Francine

They want to be able to charge outrageous prices for internet use like they do for text messaging or like ATT used to do with long distance phone calls when they were a monopoly. Remember what phone bills used to be like then? Limiting internet usage is also an attempt to control our ability to access information. When newspapers and network news were the only game in town it was much easier to control the message and to keep things from the public. - Francine
