I wish they added the option to use it as a router when plugged into a computer. I know you can use a power-only cable or mod an existing microUSB cable, but it would be nice to just use one cable for all needs.

The Mini 9's were recently discontinued, and the 10's were missing some of the compatibility, so it's not as simple and complete as before.

It looks like the Mini 10v is a compatible version, if you want to look into it, I used the Compatibility chart that they share in the article and Rodfather just shared.

I haz done this with my Lenovo S10. I just wiped it and put Win 7 on as its more trouble than its worth. (Remembering never to run software update is hard)

A friend of mine has done this I'd get one and do it except I hatehatehate the Mini 9's right-hand shift key. It's half-sized and I end up hitting up-arrow instead. For someone who doesn't look at the screen when they type you can imagine how effed up my paragraphs get when I move he insertion point up a line whenever I mean to shift a letter.

I'm waiting on my Mini 9 to be shipped so I can do this next week.
- Mark Trapp
Cool, Mark. If you post the experience, I will try to learn from your success/mistakes.

The MSI Wind family is well supported and there's a good forum out there.

Done it, doesn't really feel fully Mac -- it's just the OS. Personally feel the keys are too small, and the keyboard layout is terrible. You forget how much the hardware matters until you don't have it.... imho, of course.
- Jason Silverstein
Jason, are you typically a Mac user? I am a PC user, so I am hoping that won't be an issue for me.
- Josh Haley
Oops, just saw the reply. Yes, I'm a Mac user typically... That's a good point.

A friend at work did. It takes a little bit of work (you need the OSX ISO and to make a bootable USB stick), but he said it was definitely worth it.

Mine will be here Wednesday, and I am ready. :)

i'm pretty sure that there's a bunch of TWiT Army users who have done this to a dell mini http://army.twit.tv/group... check there (twitarmy is laconi.ca/status.net)

when win7 goes commercial, i'm looking at hackintoshing mine too.
- Carolyn Chan
Carolyn, what do you mean? Dual boot?

from the left to the right: Viliv S5 to check my google mail account, my old Dell Inspiron 700M - still my stationary blogging device, Samsung NC10for checking Tweetdeck and on the far right the Gigabyte Touchnote T1028X for watching multimedia files.

We always come back to the bigger screens for real work, don't we? :)
- James Kendrick
James i can't agree more with you. When i am mobile, my netbooks are really perfect and i love to use them for blogging from a conference or showfloor. But on my desk back in my appartment, the good ole' Dell still is my favorite
- Sascha Pallenberg
You know whats gonna happen if you still have that dell at IFA... Did you see the Ice-T video..
- jkkmobile
Haha, JKK will you kill it? I am just about to get a new fan so i can run it again at 1.6Ghz. Right now it's running fanless @600Mhz :) - So you will be in Berlin mate?

You know that iiView A2 super-thin laptop we spotted a few weeks ago? It turns out it’s real, and the folks at BabyPC managed to snag one. They say it looks more like an Asus Eee PC 1101HA than a MacBook Air, but the iiView A2 has a more powerful 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU. The [...] Post from: Liliputing iiView A2 unboxed – Video
Asus may have pulled its experimental Google Android-powered netbook from sight after teasing journalists with it at Computex in June. But that doesn’t mean the company is sticking to Windows and Xandros Linux. Sascha at NetbookNews says a reliable source has told him that Asus will launch a netbook with Moblin Linux in October. Moblin is [...] Post from: Liliputing Rumor: Asus to launch Moblin-powered Eee PC soon
Now add 'smartbooks' for ARM based smaller netbooks and 'ultra-thins' for higher performance netbooks (new term for a subnotebook). It does get confusing and the debate will always continue on what each of these buzzwords mean.
