Hmmm, if we could please have email notifications on groups, I could set one up to replace my Yahoo Groups email list I admin with my old games industry chums and also optionally give us a more richer service (if they decide to visit the site).
One problem though, sometimes we attach images to replies (in FriendFeed's case 'comments'). So ideally on the email notification alone it would be nice to have any image links in the comments appear as a image in the email. ALso for it to work in Gmail at least, we would need to see the whole thread, my own comments and all. #betakoltag-sg-groups - Kol Tregaskes
I think my friends would stick with the email but optionally it gives us access to sharing images, etc. - Kol Tregaskes
that's a great idea. I would find it useful too for a group list I administer for my college. - Rahul Das from IM
Ah cool. It mainly benefits me as it brings yet another thing into FF but the guys *might* like it too. I'm recruiting new users everywhere I can. ;-) - Kol Tregaskes
Nicholas, yep but so would they and I'd barely get them on FF yet alone getting them setting up lists etc. ;-) - Kol Tregaskes
Haha, they probably wouldn't know so I probably could get away with it. ;-) - Kol Tregaskes
This would help with people who are used to using mailing lists, like Yahoo Groups and perhaps would give FriendFeed another target audience. - Kol Tregaskes

What movies are worse with multiple viewings?

Question inspired from AC's article here: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article... - Kol Tregaskes
any movie with a twist ending is never as good the second time around - Saw, Sixth Sense, Seven, Fight Club - they're all still great movies, but nothing compares to that first time having your mind blown by a plot shift so significant... - Nathan Chase
Independence day. I never liked any of the older Batman movies. - Michael Fidler
The first time I saw The Matrix Reloaded it blew my mind. Only on a second and third viewing did I realize that it had no plot whatsoever! - Rahul Das

"Is it not true that inconsiderate use of creation begins where God is marginalized or also where is existence is denied? What is the best movie car chase or chases?
car-chase1.jpg
Show all
The French Connection, hands down. - Moody (Sweet FA 4 Life)
Bourne again has some good ones. - Kol Tregaskes
Ronin for sure, follwoed closely by the fight/chase scene in Matrix Revolution. - Anika
Surprisingly, for someone who likes car chases, I don't recall them too well. The most recent ones that come to mind are the racing scenes in Fast & Furious and the freeway attack/kidnapping in The Kingdom - LANjackal
I'm being serious here, but BAD BOYS 2 has the single best car chase scene, takes place on the bridge. - Roger @ CineVegas
BULLITT with Steve McQueen - Billy Warhol
+1 ronin - Marco
Ronin - .LAG liked that
another vote for Ronin here - comix aka martha
Catch that Beast - insanely long "We need this movie to be half an hour longer, just ad car chases" syndrome - David Miller
The ones in the Transporter movies. - Rahul Das
Gosh, can't remember Ronin very well, must watch it again. - Kol Tregaskes
The latest Matrix? - Ikaro
I'd have to say "Bullet" & "Ronin" are tide in my mind for best chase scene. - Bluesun 2600
Mustang vs.Charger, with Steve McQueen as Bullitt, is tops in my book! - CJ Guest
for the record: Ronin is REAL bad ass skilled driving, Matrix Reloaded is mostly CG crap! record book closed :) - Marco
Matrix 2, followed by Bourne 2. - Roberto Bonini
Ronin by a mile - Steve
matrix - ƌ l i Ʀ e z ƌ
Ronin followed by the original Italian Job (http://www.youtube.com/watch...) Something about mini coopers jumping from rooftop to rooftop that is just awesome :) - Robert DeBord
Sorry, but you're all wrong :). This is the best car chase ever shot http://www.youtube.com/watch.... 9 minutes, one single take, no speeding up, no special effects, no blocked street, excessively dangerous and perfectly illegal. It's also an amazing tour of Paris. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki... for more. - Jérôme
Diamonds are Forever - Josh Haley from iPhone
every time this question comes up, i am the only person who mentions the jetcar/bike chase at the end of "THX-1138." :-) - Karim
another vote for Ronin... either one of the 2 car chase scenes in that one edge out French Connection. - Vicarbott
If you didn't click my link, Jeremy Clarkson said C'était un Rendez-vous "makes Bullitt look like a cartoon". Now, go watch it and let me know your new opinion :) http://www.youtube.com/watch... - Jérôme
clicked it. that is cool. - Marco
Cool vid. Seen it before and still contend French Connection best, if only because of its back-story. - Moody (Sweet FA 4 Life)
one expects the driver to get out of the car at the end of "C'était un Rendez-vous" and pull some dead pigeons out of the radiator grille. :-D - Karim
yeah Matrix Reloaded, Ronin, and Bourne series all have some excellent chases. I haven't seen Bullit or French Connection YET. Hear good things. - Nathan Chase
Ronin and French Connection. - TVTechGrl
Bullitt with Steve McQueen - Larry Roth
Bourne trilogy for me, Ronin was good also, maybe even the Italian Job. - travispuk from iPhone
The Blues Brothers. - Ton Zijp
Gone in 60 Seconds. Eleanor. (surprised it took this long to get a mention) - chrisofspades
BULLITT. - Steven Perez
French Connection & Ronin tie for me. - Pete D
Bourne Identity drive in the classic mini and the opening chase scene from The Transporter are very good. - Scoble, Alex Scoble
Bullitt, Ronin, French Connection. - AJ Kohn
Gone in 60 Seconds and Matrix Reloaded.. - Varun "Maverick" Pitale
Bourne Supremacy>Orognal Italian Job> Matrix Reloaded - Vemana Madasu
Ronin is the best because it is real! Matrix is nice too but it is special effects - Amir
Another vote for Blues Brothers here! - ☆ Mellyboo ☆
The Matrix - Reloaded and yes, Tarantino's Death Proof || I also love French Connection! - Frank Da Silva
Terminator / L.A. River - Marg Uerite
While 'C'etait un Rendez vous' isn't strictly a movie chase scene, it's a great drive. My vote is for Ronin though. It's pretty much what you think of when you think of modern car chases. - Will Higgins™
Ronin, because it was real cars. - Andrew Leyden
The Blues Brothers - thinkQuick
Dandy Dan and his gang chasing Bugsy and Fat Sam in Bugsy Malone. - Mark H
Ronin without doubt. - Faraz Mullick
Ronin by a landslide - Bwana ☠
I hate to say this because the movie itself is absolutely terrible but.. The scene in Bad Boys where the cars are flipping over the Ferrari.. OMGWTFBBQ.. I think CGI is the way to go with car chases.. - Can Koklu
French Connection, Ronin, Bourne movie had a decent one. - David J Lowe
The Bourne Identity had the best one IMHO, though the one in Bourne Supremacy came close to beating it. Ronin was fantastic too. Michael Bay puts together some entertaining ones, even if they are over the top - the chases in The Rock, Bad Boys, and Bad Boys 2 are definitely fun to watch. - Eric P
The Dark Knight "prisoner transport" chase was pretty awesome. - Steve Lynch from twhirl
The chase scene from Bullit is great. The chase scene with the crane smashing through buildings from Terminator 3 is a fave as well. - Jeremy Brooks
Great thread, gonna have to go back and watch a few movies. By the way, the horse chase in first Lord of the Rings was quite good :) - JCunwired
Blues Brothers hands down. Winnebago in a lake, police car lands INSIDE a semi, 20+ police car pile-up, army helicopters, nazis, what else do you need?! - Peter Ghosh
Blues Brothers & French Connection are tied in my mind for best, but I love the chase scene in "Day Watch" as well. - Jennifer Dittrich
So which Ronin chase is better, the Audi / Citroen / Mercedes chase or the BMW / Peugeot one later in the movie? - Andrew Leyden
Ronin - Ahsan Ali
Ronin, for sure... - DAL
Ronin, The French Connection then Bullitt - David Monroe

What movie has the best fight scenes or scene?
fight1.jpg
fight2.jpg
Show all
For me the Bourne movie fight scenes are immense. :-) - Kol Tregaskes
*Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf* ... Oh, you mean physical fight scenes... My bad. - Moody (Sweet FA 4 Life)
I agree I loved the fight scenes in Bourne - LOL James those were some scary fight scenes - comix aka martha
Hehe, James. ;-) - Kol Tregaskes
Bourne. Where else do you see a pen and newspaper used as lethal weapons? - Brian Daniel Eisenberg
Jackie Chan's the most consistent fight scene performer for me. For a specific movie or scene, the Bourne trilogy is amazing - LANjackal
The scene in Ultimatum in Morocco is superb! :-) - Kol Tregaskes
The "corridor scene" in Old Boy. - JazJaz
Yeah, the fight scenes in Bourne are not only immense, but very realistic as well. - jan geronimo
and brutal! - Joe The Sausage
The lobby scene in The Matrix where Neo and Trinity demolish half an army. - Rahul Das
Equilibrium Gun Katas were really wild. loved the idea behind it. used well, in the flick, too. - MikeAmundsen
Bourne hands down. - TheHenry
between bourne and bruce lee - Parvez Halim
Depends on what u mean by fight. King Kong vs. the T Rex in peter jacksons remake was an amazing scene. - Shauns from iPhone
The ladder fight in Once Upon a Time in China and Neo vs Agent Smith X100 in Matrix 2 are both great fights but Ong-Bak has the best fight scenes i have ever seen. - Steve
Matrix! - Agent Smith vs Neo. - Fırat Demirel
The Matrix has some of thee best fight scenes ever. Difficult to pick one. - Roberto Bonini
Roberto, you are right. so i did not explain the scenes. ;o) - Fırat Demirel
enter the dragon, bourne series, rocky series... - Krishna Gade
Any of the 'Bourne' movies. - Sean
Transporter (original) is fun. - Ken Stewart | ChangeForge
Definitely the "Bourne" movies. - TVTechGrl
"They Live". You know I'm right. - Josh Haley from iPhone
They Live, with the incredibly long fight between Rowdy Roddy Piper and Keith David. - DGentry
yes that long fight in "They Live" - Alfredo 亜瑠布れっど
I would have said the Matrix, but the scenes were just too CGI. I would say the Bourne Trilogy again for some intense action. Special mention to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Hero. - travispuk from iPhone
The Kill Bill movies. - Ben Hanten
The Bourne movies. Amazing tension for two straight hours. You feel drained, and that music! To die for! - Rick Cogley
maximum risk, jean claude van damme vs russian guy at sauna - رامین
For me it's probably Ong Bak. Crows Zero has some great scenes too (not so far from that corridor scene from Old Boy). - Brome
Correction "Kiss OF the Dragon" ;) and yes, all the fight scenes in that movie are amazing. Li doesn't use a firearm in a single scene - LANjackal from IM
The ONCE UPON A TIME IN CHINA movies. Jet Li without the Hollywood speed bumps for four movies. Teh awesomesauce. - Steven Perez from Android
Jet Li's FIST OF LEGEND, Jackie Chan's POLICE STORY, Tony Jaa's ONG-BAK. - cdogzilla | downgraded
Drunken Master 2 (Jackie vs 5, Jackie & Lau Kar-Leung vs 100 in the restaurant). The Protector has an unbelievable 4 minute single shot where Tony Jaa runs up a large building, kicking tremendous ass along the way, and there's those three one-on-ones he has as well. SPL doesn't have a lot of fight scenes, but Donnie Yen vs Jing Wu is outstanding. The Cowboy Bebop movie has some... more... - Andrew C (✓)
If you're going to include the Matrix lobby scene, you might include a few other gunfight scenes - The Killer, Hard Boiled, Shoot 'Em Up. - Andrew C (✓)
Michael Curtiz's Captain Blood (1935). He also directed the Adventures of Robin Hood and Casablanca. - Zach Landes
IDK i think if we are going on raw fighting film talent Bruce Lee is pretty epic. Bourne really has a lot more to do with the filming of the sequences that enhance the feeling of the action. - Geoff Schultz {TF}
"Big Boss", Bruce Lee - Thierry R. Andriamirado
The Matrix, Kill Bill, 300 and House of Flying Daggers (the bamboo fight sequence was brilliant)! - Frank Da Silva
Jet Li's 'Kiss of the Dragon' is one of my modern favorites. I've heard that they actually had to slow down the footage, because Li was simply too fast. - Will Higgins™
FIST OF LEGEND with Jet Li. Sorry, the others don't hold a candle to the final two sequences in this movie. - Andrew Leyden
The Bourne Films for the striking realism and They Live for the sheer length of that scene. Honorable mention to Ong Bak - Robert Davies
The greatest fight scene in movie history and it takes until this far into the comments for someone to identify it? Sheesh - The best scene ever is clearly the Sword Fighting scene in The Princess Bride. It's inconceivable that I'm the first one to mention it. - Bill Rawlinson
@Bill: !ha! good pick. - MikeAmundsen
The first Matrix, Neo vs. Agent Smith. - Eric P
I agree with Andrew Leyden, Fist of Legend - Jet Li ! - Ahsan Ali
Happy Gilmore - michael sean wright
Scoble, Alex Scoble
Gatling guns are cool...that is all.
i might be saying something i'm not supposed to say, in which case I'll come back here and exercise my FF "right" to delete it - but I saw a video a few months ago of a modern-day GG mounted within an SUV (probably USSS?) being fired at a testing range, and it was frighteningly awesome. i've seen the equipment in person before, but never in action. there's something about that. - Anthony Citrano
Mythbusters had an electric minigun they used to cut down a tree one episode. Pretty much the same principle but crazy fast! http://www.youtube.com/watch... - caj needs a haircut

Microsoft To Sell Windows 7 Without IE in Europe. *And how do we suppose to download stuff? ;)
So, it’s finally here. Your fingers tremble; you open the package with one hand and feverishly open the CD tray with the other. You gaze coldly, for one last time, at your original Vista box, now burning in the fireplace. Half an hour later, you’ve got your PC loaded with a fresh and clean copy of Windows 7. So, what do you do first? You fire up the internet to download some stuff…but wait - there’s no browser. No browser!? How the hell are you supposed to get an alternative browser - Firefox, Opera, any browser - without a browser? - Sasha Kovaliov from Bookmarklet
R.I.P. ;) - Ronald
But I need that thing to open Microsoft CRM and MOSS apps. Doesn't work in Opera and FF nicely. All this fuss is just paranoia :) - Sasha Kovaliov
telnet to gopher and use zterm ;) - Tyler Gillies
why load ubuntu into memory just to download something? why not use a smaller distro? - Tyler Gillies
Yeah its a result of the EC crap. Paranoia indeed. Anyway, from a technical perspective, it's just not possible to take it out of the OS as it is part of it. It will just be hidden, or set to install on first click or something. - Pete Gilbert
somebody died... - Jacob
Agree, Peter. I just imagine all non-technically savvy people trying to load a web-page :) Oh my! - Sasha Kovaliov
does no one use ftp anymore? In Windows, win+r cmd, then ftp ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/. ls to list, cd to change directory, get to get a file. - Rich
@Rich: try telling that to a grandmother who just got herself a new computer. - Rahul Das
Hopefully as a grandma, she would have been there when telnet/ftp were the internet. Well, maybe... - Rich
What they *should* do is force Microsoft to bundle a few additional web browsers - Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera, etc. - and let the user decide which to install. The rest can be deleted. - Obayoo
True, but Microsoft is trying to compete in *everything*. :) - Obayoo
I thought they were pre-installing Firefox in the EU? - Will Higgins™

Do you own any cameras? If so, please specify:
I have 3 Sony camers. DST-T5, DCR-SR45, and the DSC-50 - Outsanity
I only own a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W55, but my school has quite a collection of Canon DSLRs that they lend from time to time. - Michael Forian
Canon 50D. - Andrew Trinh
I have a Canon XSi, and a Sony CyberShot I need to sell. - FFing Enigma
A Canon PowerShot A590IS. Plus have a couple of old Kodak cameras which use film. - Rahul Das
A Nikon film SLR, an Olympus digital, a Canon digital, an iPhone, & various gadgets primarily for capturing motion pictures. - Tinfoil 2.0
@Ancyru: Andrew, I hope you didn't buy your 50D recently, or after the T1i was released. - Michael Forian
HAHAHA! :D MiniMage, that camera is sick! :D - Michael Forian
Forian, the 500D has nothing on mine. ;) Btw I purchased mine last year. - Andrew Trinh
We have the Panasonic Lumix TZ4 and a newly acquired Canon SD1100 IS. Both are fantastic, - G Dub of the Carolinas
Canon XSi along with an old fuji finepix and a kodak point-and-shoot need to replace those with a new point-and-shoot - John Spyers
Canon Powershot A520 plus a small collection of Minolta manual focus film SLRs. The latter were how I learned photography. - John (bird whisperer)
An older Canon Powershot, a Canon Powershot E1, and a Nikon D300. Plus iPhone. - Rochelle
Seems like Canon is a brand that appears to be constant throughout your responses. - Michael Forian
are you looking to purchase? If so, what sort of camera are you looking for? - G Dub of the Carolinas
Well, I'm sorting of looking for a hybrid: great HD video, decent image quality. I have my eyes set on the Canon SX1 IS. Amazing zoom. What do you think? - Michael Forian
A good choice also check the Lumix TZ5. I love the Lumix lenses http://www.amazon.com/Panason... - G Dub of the Carolinas
Canon 40D and A95; Kodak Brownie Flash; Polaroid SX-70 - JA Castillo
Nikon D50, Nikon D300, Pentax compact, though not fully functional. Next purchase will be a top end compact, something from Canon probably but was not impressed with the G10 that came out a few months back. - Kol Tregaskes
Canon EOS 350d, Canon AE1, Canon AF35M, Pentacon 6TL (My Baby), Exa1b - Mario
I just have a Nikon D60. I'm happy with it. - Faraz Mullick
Right - I own a Samsung GX10 and a fujifilm f47 (for the pocket) plus several film cameras (pentax mzm and 3 viewfinders that are all older than me). Very happy with both the Samsung/Pentax and the fujifilm and would buy the newer models in the same ranges again if they got destroyed or stolen (the GX20/K20D samsung/pentax and the F100 or f200 fuji) - Iphigenie
Canon G9 and my first DSLR, a Canon 50D with a 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM lens. Still trying to learn the 50D. It's a massive camera compared to the point and shoots that I've owned in the past, but it's such a fun camera and I'm learning so much about photography whenever I use it. - Drew
