That is COOL! Being relatively coordinated, I figured, PSSHHAW! but I'll be damned. I am totally going to bleed bet money out of people on this one. - Josh Haley
forcing it NOT to do it kinda makes me convulse - Eric Rice
@Yuvi yeah drawing an 8 is definitely wacky. Can't wait to use this with friends next week. - Annie Boccio
That's why I stopped hosting parties for my kids' birthdays. Never got RSVPs. I switched to doing something special with them. - Annie Boccio
This is nothing new....people NEVER respond to RSVP's for almost any occasion these days. Parents and kids parties are the worst by far. It is much easier and less stressful to just call each invitee. - Bob Bichler
“OK, check it - the company I work for has blocked mashable.com at the corporate firewall "because it's a social networking site" *slaps forehead and groans*”
I like the concept of using the post titles as the custom permalinks. However, what happens if you happen to name two posts the very same thing? Also, what happens to posts with blank titles? - Tink *~*~*
if you include both the date (month/day) and title in the permalink you won't have that problem. Untitled posts get a number, but in the most recent WP you can edit the permalink to say whatever you want easily. - Annie Boccio
It's easy.. remember that the iphone uses Safari.. just move the friendfeed bookmarklet into a sync'd bookmark folder in safari, sync, and the bookmarklet will work on the iPhone. - J. Phil
Thanks for the tip! Does it require 2.0? - Hao Chen
Sweet Cheetos how did I not think of that! +1 and a gold star to J. Phil! - Nice Fish Films
Hao, unless they changed javascript support between 1.x and 2.0, it should work fine. NFF - Thanks! By the way a LOT of bookmarklets work. Have fun with that. Now, go off and write helpful blog posts. Link here. ;) - J. Phil
You know, I might just pay for mobile me just so I can OTA-sync my bookmarks. - J. Phil
This works for any bookmarklet - e.g. the delicious one - right? - Mike Doeff
Any bookmarklet that works in Safari, within reason. For example, the Diigolet might not work because it pulls up a whole toolbar.. but yeah. Every one I've sync'd over so far has worked. - J. Phil
I've used the tumblr & gReader subscribe bookmarklets on the iPhone, too. - Annie Boccio
Oo, the tumblr bookmarklet, good idea! I'm going to add that one and the evernote one and see if those work. ... and, what the hey, social median. - J. Phil
The evernote bookmarklet crashes safari when you try to log in. social median works, and the tumblr one works well, though not perfectly. - J. Phil
Anyone able to get this to work on 1.1.4? (I can't) - Hao Chen
The panel appears when I choose the bookmarklet, but it renders the page dead. I cannot click on the Share on FriendFeed button to actually share it away, add a comment, or attach graphics. I can click Close to get rid of it. Too bad, this would've been sweeeeeeet. - Jim Stanger
seems interesting, though there is still much to be wished for. - Colide81
Today's roll call is for those of us that are parents who are gamers (of any level) who also have kids of gaming age (I'd start the gaming age around 4-ish... right around where autonomy exists in a non-Putt Putt/Fatty Bear kinda way) :) - Eric Rice
I'm not sure if I count or not. They aren't my kids..they're my boyfriend's kids. I love them to pieces though. (Realized just saying they aren't my kids didn't look very nice) - Candace Holly
Present. Smash Brothers Melee and Brawl rule! But my daughter regularly kicks my butt in Brawl, and she's 10x better at Guitar Hero. - steplow
i would TOTALLY game w/ my kids. Wii FTW! - Mona N.
I've been gaming with our kids since they were old enough to hold controllers. All three are teens now. We've been rocking at the music games lately (Rock Band, GH). - TDavid
Present and accounted for. Even the two-year-old plays Ravin' Rabbits and Wii Play. - Cyndy
not yet, give me a few years though :) - sean percival
“How often does Google get fresh satellite imagery? The last place i checked in on Brightkite was bare, now the shopping center is 'under construction'.”
Not often enough for my work.We use satellite imagery and sometimes, it's hard when you know that shopping center has been there for at least 3 years and google maps still has a site that's barely getting graded. OTOH, google earth has better, though still outdated imagery. - faboo mama
It probably depends on the area. I've looked at places in Australia and New Zealand and they seem like fairly old images. You'd think they'd keep San Fran and Silicon Valley up to date ish though. - jjprojects
The images of my community show fresh hurricane damage from Ivan. That was three years ago. - Chris Baskind
Microsoft on the other hand seems to be very update, at least with more widespread coverage. - Eric Rice
my area was updated recently, you can see the addition we built last year. - Annie Boccio
Since I'm not an admin here, I'll piggyback my question to the back of this post - How many folks here would subscribe/regularly listen to a five minute podcast similar to tech5 that rounded out the previous day's headlines on Mashable? As a corrollary, would you be interested in a companion video version? - Mark "Rizzn" Hopkins
@Mark - I would listen to the podcast for sure. I'm not too big on video casts myself since I like carrying podcasts around and listening on my iPod but yes..that's a good idea! - Candace Holly
I love 5-minute podcasts. In fact, I was thinking of starting one myself recently. Also, I made you an admin, Mark. - J. Phil
Thanks crowd-Just ordered one without packaging and free ground shipping. - Mark Forman
I have one and use it for a small SLR. You need a small tripod head on it to really use it. Otherwise you will be fiddling with the gorillapod far to much to get the framing correct. - JP Landry
Mark get the Twipphoto.com feed ,,, lots of good info ,,, - fotographic
I have one and it's great, not perfect but great! - Kol Tregaskes
I have one and it is really handy. Just make sure you get the big size if you have a DSLR. - John Ford
have one, use it all the time, and find that it attracts men like you wouldn't believe :). - Annie Boccio
Have one, love it. It's indispensable. - Josh Bancroft
Annie TMI-was your husband included in that or?? :D - Mark Forman
I have a little one and like it. You definitely need the bigger one for non-pocket-sized cameras. - Lindsay Donaghe
I have two - the smaller SLR version and the larger SLR Zoom version. They're useful when you can find a place to prop them on or attach them to. - Cecily Walker
The login and the captcha serve two different but related purposes. Login is for accountability, while captcha is supposed to thwart spam bots. Never mind that we can all think of ways around both of these controls! - Tink *~*~*
Because of spammers who place trash all over a site and ruin it. - LPH
There should be a setting in blogger that allows people who have already left a comment to avoid the captcha on future comments. - Annie Boccio
And this is why I'm not getting one today boohoo. - Annie Boccio
Ah, obsolescence, or at least the appearance of it - an inextricable component of the American way of free enterprise :D@Annie, can't you order one? Or maybe pay some kid at the local Best Buy to put one aside for you next shipment? - Tink *~*~*
Sorry, I missed where you said you already had Soundflower. What's the problem then? - Vincent Ferrari
I've got Soundflower... So set System Audio out to Soundflower (iTunes) and use Audio Hijack Pro to capture Mic (in) and send to Soundflower (out)... The use Talkshoe input as Soundflower? - Aaron Brazell
This is where the voodoo comes in, but yeah that sounds right. Should work :-\ - Vincent Ferrari
The voodoo is always where I get screwed. Thanks. :) - Aaron Brazell
I definitely recommend contacting the folks at Cycling 74. They're pretty helpful from what I hear and can probably get you working... - Vincent Ferrari
Alright so here's the answer. Audio Hijack Pro: Hijack USB mic. Add Application Mixer under Effects - make the application iTunes. Set Input as USB Mic, Output as Soundflower. In Skype sound prefs. Set input as Soundflower 2ch. Outpu as USB headset. Use Skype to Dial in to Talkshoe. Tested and confirmed working. - Aaron Brazell
Anyone doing Audio mixing without a mixer should bookmark this friendfeed thread as there is no other definitive resources from what I know to remove the voodoo from this setup and make it simply work in stark black and white details. - Aaron Brazell
SpamSpam is teh awesome. Love him and this new intro. - Andrea Baker
Ah. I thought that link looked wrong, but I was trying to multitask and I missed the obvious typo. Thanks, Mark --- and it sounds great, Aaron; SpamSpam! - Travis Seitler
EEK! What about a straight RSS feed??? (Len, do you have time to ask that?) - Linda Mills
We also do use a straight RSS feed for PMF, Linda. Not sure if Mike will mention that. - Annie Boccio
The limitations and, (more imprtant to me) the latency of iTunes create more problems that it's worth, if you ask me. I particularly dislike how they decide when I haven't listened according to their schedule! - Linda Mills
“Who else doesn't believe that Twitter 'scheduled maintenance' during Podcamp Boston 3 and BlogHer? I think they just changed the Fail Whale page to say 'maintenance.' ;)”
They have been having problems all week - you'd think they would've fixed it by now. - Qlubb
Annie, I think you're right, they were afraid they'd crash, so they strategically scheduled maintenance during the day of 2 major twitterati conferences in North America. - Christine Cavalier
With alarming reports of crude oil prices now hovering close to $145 US dollars per barrel, and home mortgage lending going bust, it is increasingly apparent that the 1950's inspired American Dream of cul-de-sac 'oases' and paved highway transport is really on the verge of an all-out collapse. The environmental costs of suburban life were starkly highlighted in a feature story in the NY Times earlier this spring – a harbinger of sorts to the summer of 2008 where cries about SUV-fill-up costs have supplanted soccer-mom chat. Andrew Revkin at Dot.Earth also addressed the topic with a provocative blog piece that suggested 'retrofilling' suburbia as a means to 'uninvent' the mindless sprawl. Whatever the strategy to come, it is more apparent than ever, that reinventing our consumption habits and our notions of living 'the good life' will be a vital action item as we search for new ways to define sustainability in lieu of behemoth malls and suburban plots of American neighborhoods. - Mark Forman via Bookmarklet
The next place we live will be more urban. I want to be able to walk to buy the basic necessities. It's not so bad where we are now, but it could be better. - Annie Boccio
This was really obvious to me as a kid growing up in suburbia, but I'm still stumped on the subject of how to fix it. Millions of houses are in completely unsustainable locations. We're not going to move them, so... what? - Jason Wehmhoener
One interesting facet of Taiwan life is that cities and country pretty much merge in areas. Most things easily obtainabable within walking distance if not :scooters. - Mark Forman
How long do we fight nature? And honestly, I don't remember riptides being such an issue when I was a kid... was I naive or are they more common? - Annie Boccio via Bookmarklet
Hey, at least it's not hypodermic needles. That was a fun summer, I'll bet. - Rick Wolff
