Often, freelancers and clients don't take into account non-billable time on business tasks, between projects, vacation etc - easily 25-50%
@BradleyHolt Yes, depending on specific market, business model and level of expertise, 2-5x salary rate is the range I've learned.
Freelancers: if your rate is much below 2x "targeted hourly salary", your clients are abusing your generosity and learning to bottom-fish.
