No way! At last. - Vincent X
I heard the first song. It wasn't as great as I thought it would be. I still want to listen to the rest. - Shevonne Polastre
The album is already on torrent sites! Awesome. *firing up BitTorrent client* - Vincent X
*cough* http://rapidshare.com/files/16... *cough* (only 128kbps though) - Vincent X
@Vincent :) - you have a very nice cough. - jlt
Wait, what the hell, didn't give the right link... Just a moment. EDIT: Okay, fixed it, sorry about that. EDIT2: 320kbps torrent version: http://www.mininova.org/tor/20... - Vincent X
heard the demos, wasn't impressed, and readied my pen for snark... then I heard the finished album. Some of the best production I've heard in Aeons on an album, really fucking stellar work. Axl should be proud... it may not be a 'Guns n' Roses' album, but Tracks like 'There was a Time', 'Rhiad...' and 'Sorry' are flat out amazing and beautiful. You def. want to listen to it in high quality form on a GREAT system... - Rantz Hoseley
Rolling Stone gave it 4 stars. I love "Shackler's Revenge". - Adriana Reyes
Listened to it last night. There are some decent songs. But, what really puts me off is that I have already heard all the good songs from a demo that leaked several years ago (back when one of those bogus release dates was floating around). - Brandon Titus
What do you guys think of the single? I play Shacklers revenge on Rockband 2 - orionstarr
The single seems cluttered and unfocused. - Steve Isaacs
It still won't. I stand firm in my conviction that something will keep it from the shelves. It will never be released. - tehKenny
LOL - Mona N.
now when's Duke Nukem Forever coming out? - Nathan Chase
Where the Duke Chinese Nukem Wild Things Democracy Are. - Steve Isaacs

Agreed--the night America wanted change and got it. - thepete
Same here Steve. We made history. - Larry Kless
As a european I have to give my respect to the USA. This is a brilliant basis for international solidarity. But now Obama has to prove the world, that he is not the same idiot warmonger and uses more democratic instruments, and not harm civil rights. I'm confident he will handle this. Thank you, America! - Ryo
I thought his acceptance speech was excellent, now let's hope people actually DO something to help change this country for the better, rather than sitting back and expecting politicians to do it for them on the commercial breaks of their favorite sport. This is your chance America to prove we still have drive and the fortitude that once made this a great country to live in. (and the memory of which, this country has been coasting on for decades...) - Rantz Hoseley
oh i think all the people who got involved with the campaign will probably have withdrawal symptoms and *want* to get involved somehow - Joelle Nebbe

I feel the same about both my parents. - Yolanda
Does it bother you? - dkb via Alert Thingy
I think I know them (my parents), but they don't get me at all. - RAPatton
your kids will think the same of you.. dont worry :)- - Peter Dawson
I am very lucky in that I have been able to get to know my parents not just as parents but also as people. Even luckier that we get along and that I would be friends with such people even if we weren't related. It is a rare relationship dynamic (my brother certainly doesn't *know* them) and one I am very thankful for. Mind you, we went through a heck of a lot of tears and angry words to get here. - Patricia Hanrahan
who do you know? What's different and do you really? - Brad Nickel
Yeah, sometimes I think about their lives before I came along. They have great pictures of them from the late 60s and early 70s. @RAPatton, yeah, they don't get me either. - zoblue (Zulema)
My parents get my other siblings, I am just very different from the rest of the pack - RAPatton
Steve, how do you think this will affect your relationship with your future kids? - Hao Chen
I'm lucky that I'm very close to my parents. Before my father died, he and I had spent a good ten years or so working on a friendship and it was a good one. My mother and I are now really close as well and as she goes through a variety of illnesses, I'm glad I can be there for her as a friend as well as a son. - Akiva Moskovitz
I feel the same way. I was at a BBQ at my parents house last month and I heard all these crazy stories about my father (who's still alive) that I've never heard before. Apparently he used to go to Cape Cod every summer and hitchhike and ride a mini-bike around and get hassled by the cops. My Dad was cool! - James Ferguson
This past weekend I heard a story from my wife's grandfather at how trying to outrun a cop is a felony and that he's done it four times. Grandmother says, 'But you don't have any felonies!' His reply: 'Well, I wasn't CAUGHT obviously.' - Akiva Moskovitz
my dad was the same .. would never open up , never showed emotions , until it was too late ,, he did some soul searching the last few months of his life while laying in a hospital bed at home . I miss him very much . - johnpiercy
i can relate, to a point. although these last few years he has opened up. i dunno. is strange. - Mister Groonk
We never got the chance. He died unexpectedly when I was 13. - Aaron Hood
Haven't talked to mine in over 10 years and i'm fine with that - orionstarr
I can wholly relate to this; though it is my mother with whom I do not know... - JA Castillo
He's been an adult all your life. I am seriously beginning to think that the "distance" is created to try and stop us inheriting their shortcomings. I also believe it makes no difference at all. - VickyPearce
my ex met his father for the first time at age 21. He just up and decided to find him after I and some of his friends started asking about it. It's never too late to start to get to know him. I'm sure he has a past like everyone else that might help give a clue as to why he is like he is. - Maria
this was one of the hardest things to come to grips with the moment my mother died. i suddenly realized how little i knew her. - Ruth Ferguson
It's so hard to have a conversation with either of my parents. I don't think it'll ever stop being awkward. - eve shot first
Hao: I really hope that I can learn from what my Dad DIDN"T do. I'd like to have a much more open, familiar relationship with my kids. My Father is by no means a bad guy, I just have no idea what he's really like. When I was a child, he never seemed to be able to relate to me as a Father, and now that I'm a grown man, he has the same difficulty even though we could now potentially relate as friends. I sure hope I can do it differently with my future kids. - Steve Isaacs
Steve: You will. I say that from my own personal experience. - Mike Cornell
I'm really glad that I do know my Dad in that way. He's like the most supportive person in my life. I chalk that up to losing my Mom when I was young. - Keke
I find that I've understood my father much better as I've matured and grown. Hopefully I've learned from his path how to improve my own and maybe my sons will appreciate it. - Todd Jordan
ditto...but like @todd, i've come to know more about him as i've grown - .LAG
I can say the same thing about my biological mother. Except I also don't want to know her. - Mathew Ballard
I found myself a lot more at peace when I stopped trying to know or understand my father, other than to sum him up as 'just plain fucked up.' Only things I got from him was a.) him taking me to Star Wars as a kid, and b.) seeing how NOT to treat my kids. - Rantz Hoseley
Something I'm quite conscious of as I raise my two little ones. - Hutch Carpenter
My dad died two years ago and my mom last year. After each died I thought about this. I didn't know my dad until I turned 18. I hunted him down. I understand him but I don't sympathize with his values. The same with my mom. I knew her longer but not any better. Oddly enough, my dad and I share certain behaviors, but they're motivated by different values. - Jack Carlson
Steve, this is gonna sound a little preachy, but get to know him while you have the chance. My mom passed away last year, and I haven't talked to my dad since I was 17(ish). If I had the choice, I would've gotten to know both of them... Time and life are too damn short :) - Mona N.
I wish I hadn't gotten to know mine. - heather ♥s fauns on mars.
Hmm.. Steve, maybe if you focused on what he DID do (preferably positive things) it could highlight something you might have missed that you never knew about him? Just something to try out, no offense intended. Do you have this distant relationship trouble with anyone else? I don't mean pry or anything, just posing questions. - Maria
My dad and I were never close...in fact he was a pretty terrible father when I was growing up. Never took the time to be a father really...always busy with his friends. He recently had a crazy stroke will be in the hospital for a long time, maybe even til he dies. I had to move him out of his apartment and get his car...it was shocking to realize as I was going through his stuff, how little I know about him...Things he collects, cares about, reads, saves, etc. It has definitely been a crazy experience... - Amber Horner

You know what I fucking LOVE about this? In 1997, we did guerrilla dev of a multiplayer Lightcycles game over two weekends, to prove to the bosses at Disney Interactive that Tron a.) could be done inexpensively and LOOK GOOD and PLAY GOOD, and that b.) people would go nuts for it. We had 20+ people around the office all playing it, going nuts, having an awesome time with it... whooping and hollering as the laserdisc sampled audio blasted victory or Sark booming over people 'derezzing'. The 'management' thought it was a 'bad idea' because 'no one likes TRON'... I fucking LOVE that Lassiter proves once again to be the man by doing guerilla, unnanounced tactics to prove 'fuck you, this is a great idea that we NEED to do!' - Rantz Hoseley
Hunt down the TR2N trailer. It's still online (albeit off the beaten path). I don't know why Disney wouldn't want me to see this. I'm more excited than ever. - Brian Norwood

“How long will I need to line up to get into the Watchmen panel at ComicCon?”
July 10 at 8:47 pm - Link
I'm guessing at 2 hours. I was in line over an hour for the Warner's panel last year where they announced Watchmen. - Shawna Benson
I grew up in SF fandom, but this is my first ComicCon. Is this old hand urban legend or are the lines really 2+ hours to get into select panels? - Chris Rachael Oseland
Not an urban legend at all - for panels in the big room, you have to wait at least 2+ hours, especially some people just camp there for the entire day. My guess is that the wait for Watchmen will be at least 2 hours. - Whitney Drake
Take your own bottled water to drink in line. The people selling it in the hot sun (yes the line went outside around the convention center) were selling at far too high a price. - Shawna Benson
Bring your fully charged DS, and plan on camping out first thing in the am. No, I'm not kidding. - Rantz Hoseley

“What are your picks for best SD ComicCon parties to go to this year?”
July 9 at 10:17 am - Link
I'd like to get invited to parties. That would be nice. - Shawna Benson
You usually don't find out until the day of the party, or before (for the good ones) Last year Circle of Confusion's party was 'the' one to go to. Image Comics always has one with the CBLDF (this year on Friday, I think). We were going to have one for CBT, but just ran the fuck out of time :/ - Rantz Hoseley

“Been to ComicCon before? What's your advice to first timers?”
July 3 at 3:06 pm - Link
comfortable shoes, ibuprofen, 'nutrition bars' (to keep energy up without subjecting yourself to the horrible and overpriced con food) Deoderant, light/loose clothing, caffeine, breathmints/gum, Good, reliable camera and phone, and most important... HAND SANITIZER (to avoid 'con plague'. Trust me on this one) Lastly, as difficult as it may be, get as much sleep as you can. - Rantz Hoseley
Damn! Thanks - insightful and precise. Good stuff. Looking forward to seeing you. - Steve Isaacs
look at the schedule ahead of time and decide what is a must see and get there early. rooms fill fast and have capacity limits. - aug
Bring your own food. Already said but well worth repeating. Get cash beforehand. Artist alley has great stuff, esp. on the later days. - barry
Take the Trolley and start the Con before you even get to the Convention Center. Besides being cheaper and easier than finding parking, over half the riders will be heading there and many will be in costume! You may make some new friends, too! - Oliver Ortega Chua
Bring own snacks. Food is way way overpriced. And plenty of cash with something of a plan on how to spend it. - Carlos
Definitely make sure you plan out what you want to see and what you're willing to miss. This includes all panels, standing in line for exclusive items, and autographs. Just realize that you won't be able to see everything you want, or meet everyone you want as many things tend to overlap, or there just isn't enough time to stand in line for one, and still make it to something else. - Donato (ricin)
Steve, I've been to ComicCon and sorry to say I can't make it this year. I think everyone has given some great advise. Parking is tough in San Diego so a Trolley would be a good idea. I'd recommend going more than one day if you plan to hit some of the session or movie previews. Definitely comfortable shoes, water, back up batteries for your camera, and a cardboard mailing tube to store posters and artwork. Don't forget to get your picture taken with some hot chicks in costume. - Larry Kless
Yeah, I've gone all four days every year I've been, and I always miss something. - Donato (ricin) via twhirl
Just looking at Thurs/Fri schedules, I can tell I'm going to miss A LOT. There's just too much going on! -
