"Yep-nothing as relaxing. I used to live up on 17th floor(top) in a building facing out over acres of rice fields. That was quite a beautiful experience when all of that was moving. A green living grain ocean." - Mark Forman

Mark says "Yang’s biggest sin is being faithful to his cultural DNA. He is of Chinese descent. The Chinese are almost exclusively family businesses and are run like a family not like a company. Hence, there is a ton of emotion and passion tied-up in them. It’s very hard to distance one’s self from one’s company under the Chinese model way since they are so intertwined." and I'll add that there are also a large number of Chinese people employed by Yahoo. It is not only Yang that makes Yahoo a Chinese company. I think it's very accurate to characterize Yahoo as a "family business" in many ways. It just so happens that it is also publicly traded on Wall Street. - Jason Wehmhoener
What I always thought would make sense would be for Yahoo to go private. It is a profitable business. Yahoo is only a "failure" in comparison to its competitors and in an environment where only hockey stick growth is acceptable. As a private business Yahoo could adhere more closely to its core values. - Jason Wehmhoener
Good comments Jason, thanks for feedback - Mark Forman
