I picked this one too (kenwood) Their reds are my fav. :) Not too bad for California (not a huge CA wine drinker) ...and wine doesn't get me drunk. I can drink two bottles. Easily =\ - Mona N
Why don't you get busy and do lego reconstruction of the Golden Gate Bridge after Magneto ganked it over to Alcatraz in X-Men 3 - Mark Forman
If you mean when after Godzilla smashed it, I'm already on it! But Prof. X <3 - Mona N
I liked it. "I will blatantly flag these posts as being paid for" is a very good practice. And there's no harm or anything to be ashamed by to blog for money. Almost all the so-called A-lister do this. They have the right, so you do too! - directeur via NoiseRiver
You may lose your pageranking if you do this. What if you review a product you don't like? Would you say so? Or just not post? - Bjorn Tipling
Disclosure makes it good for ,me. I never had any problem reading a magazine or newspaper where writers were being paid. - Mark Forman
No-one minds paying for value. Provided the posts deliver sustained value, non-intrusive advertising is fine. - Craig Thomler
If I review something I don't like, I will probably just say so if it will still get me paid. If not, I won't bother posting about it unless that post would still be useful to the community. I guess I will lose pagerank if people decide not to link to me because I get paid a few bucks for some of my posts? Oh well :) - Rahsheen Porter
Next time I come down there, I'll know where to get breakfast! - Shey
Hahaha, i'm a cool chef among other things. I'll be expecting you Shey. It not only looked good it also tasted delicious too, the ready made pancakes aren't all hat, boy the world has surely gotten lazy:P - Gordon Swaby
I always make mine from scratch. Don't have them very often but when I do they have to be done right. It is kind of like buying ice cream. If I am going to indulge I am not going to buy some bargain brand. - Michael Tefft
"We have constructed a fully functional, fully integrated radio receiver, orders-of-magnitude smaller than any previous radio, from a single carbon nanotube. The single nanotube serves, at once, as all major components of a radio: antenna, tuner, amplifier, and demodulator. Moreover, the antenna and tuner are implemented in a radically different manner than traditional radios, receiving signals via high frequency mechanical vibrations of the nanotube rather than through traditional electrical means." - bob via Bookmarklet
yeah, that woman is a marvel of feminine beauty. she just gets better looking. although for me her peak might have been when she was in Prime Suspect. - edythe
Edythe, did you see the final Prime Suspect? How good was that? I felt like I wasn't watching someone acting, just *being*. - Sprague D
sprague: no, unfortunately i didn't see the final one. there's still a ton of the show i haven't seen. but, gosh, is it good. - edythe
10 pounds of strawberries! Sooooo tasty. - Benjamin Golub
I generally don't like fruits, but strawberries, I HATE them. No one believes me when I say that i hate the fruit and anything that has its flavor :) - directeur via NoiseRiver
The problem is I'm trying to find a web-safe font (so one of the like 10 that are on Macs and PCs) that doesn't look horrible, which would preclude additional downloads. Looking at Google or Microsoft or Yahoo in Windows still looks like junk, so I guess I gotta assume that there's not great solution. Bad typography just bugs the hell out of me. - Mark Trapp
You could probably set basic fonts for web browser that overlap those set by webside developers to get your kind of font selected by default. I'm not sure if that works on all sites but you could try. Consolas is nice, but there really are better fonts around... - Daniel Schildt
Mark, I went through a lot of this on my blog.. I finally settled on 11px verdana for the body, and 14px arial for the titles. Meh.. - J. Phil
Daniel: in this case I am the web developer, not the user. It's for a site I'm launching. J. Phil: Verdana and Helvetica are the standby sans-serifs I use. In all three (Arial, Verdana, and Helvetica) the way Windows handles the weight of the strokes boggles my mind, especially on the lowercase 'F', the lowercase 'A', and when oblique. The kerning also sucks. Ah well. - Mark Trapp
I think font in general look different [better] in IE compared to Firefox (3). - Rebkin
This will be a photograph in the top 10 of many future lists. - Andrew Baron
Explanation: "In January 2007, people from Perth, Australia gathered on a local beach to watch a sky light up with delights near and far. Nearby, fireworks exploded as part of Australia Day celebrations. On the far right, lightning from a thunderstorm flashed in the distance. Near the image center, though, seen through clouds, was the most unusual sight of all: Comet McNaught. The photogenic comet was so bright that it even remained visible though the din of Earthly flashes. Comet McNaught has now returned to the outer Solar System and is now only visible with a large telescope. The above image is actually a three photograph panorama digitally processed to reduce red reflections from the exploding firework." - Andrew Baron
Wow, 153 people 'liked this" so far and almost 30 comments. - Andrew Baron
Absolutely incredible shot! Then again some of the best shots on the web come from NASA, National Geographic, Discovery and, of course, Hawk :) - Charlie Anzman
Not to be too cynical but that shot seems to good to be true -- I wonder if there is more processing going on than the text seems to admit. - Brian Sullivan
I'm going to side with Brian here. What is right: Comet McNaught was that bright in WA (I use to live there), but I checked my attempted pics, they predate this by over a week. I'm sure the comet was only that bright for less than a week. Second, the main Australia Day fireworks occur in Perth City...which isn't near a beach . Maybe it's Leighton Beach with Fremantle to the left...but it doesn't seem right. I did check the weather records though, there was a storm that night, and it's in the right direction - Duncan Riley
I do hope it is real though...and I forgot how wonderful the environment there is - Duncan Riley
Duncan, last year both Fremantle and I believe Hillarys held their own fireworks for Australia Day. I myself was trying to guess the location this morning. Being a regular on Leighton beach though it doesn't look familiar so I was thinking it may have been taken to the north of Hillarys. It also made me very nostalgic for Perth :) - Penny
Icebergs in the Antarctic area sometimes have stripes, formed by layers of snow that react to different conditions. Blue stripes are often created when a crevice in the ice sheet fills up with meltwater and freezes so quickly that no bubbles form. When an iceberg falls into the sea, a layer of salty seawater can freeze to the underside. If this is rich in algae, it can form a green stripe. Brown, black and yellow lines are caused by sediment, picked up when the ice sheet grinds downhill towards the sea. - Alberto via Bookmarklet
"Sub Pop is taking the first 1,500 comers, and at a mere $75 (more than this blogger can afford, admittedly), you're buying into a piece of history. Promised 7"s (with accompanying digital downloads that the rest of us will have to be satisfied with stealing from torrent sites) include tunes from Black Lips, the Notwist, Mika Miko, Om and more.
