OH NO!!! Now I will have to the Charlie Brown Christmas head bob. Anytime I watch the dance sequence I do the bob. Hmm, that reminds me I should see if the Scrubs take of Charlie Brown Christmas is still up on Youtube..

It was a great day when I first learned about miso ramen on Friendfeed. I'd loved ramen as a college student, but I'd gotten bored with it years ago. Posts like these have brought me back, and I am having fun trying to get it right.

Keiko, I tend to drink beer with mine, depending on time of day.

I wish there was a good ramen-ya nearby because now, I'm craving ramen.

@Mark Davidson>and natto?? wowwww.....wonderful! are you Japanese?? :)))) because, some of Japanese people (especially Kansai area) could't eat natto.....
- Keiko Yamada
@ Admiral Anika >I see...me too! beer is the best! :)
- Keiko Yamada
@Mark Davidson>So, I'll deliver for you from Tokio !! :))
- Keiko Yamada
I bought some frozen natto; not sure what to do with it, since I can't read the package! I may try making okonomiyaki; my Taekwondo Master's wife grew up in Japan and is a good cook; she told me I can buy the sauce I found so intimidating.
- MiniMage TKDteacher of FF
Mage, I've never seen frozen natto, but I'm sure you can prep it like what my husband and kid eat. They have finely chopped green onions, spicy mustard, ponzu, a quail egg and I think soy sauce. Mix that all up into the natto and eat it. If you get some yakinori, you can make a handroll and lay the natto on bean sprouts.

I'm a big believer in karma. If it hadn't been for the love and support of my friends (including many of you here) I wouldn't have made it through this year. Recently things have turned around for me, so I'm "paying it forward" to another friend who has had a rough year.
My friend Barry was on his bicycle when he was hit by a truck a few months back. Luckily he only hurt his ankle, but his bicycle was trashed; his only mode of transportation. I just called and told him that for Christmas this year I'm going to buy him a new bike.

Aww, thanks all. :D My friends are my family, and it hurts when I can't help them out. Right now I can, so it's the least I could do. I mean damn, the poor guy got hit by a truck! He's got a lawsuit against them but who knows how long that could take, and he needs a bike. After all the good karma I've gotten lately, it's time to pass it along to someone else in need.

Eat as in physically eat or what you do with all the stuff on the side? Stuff on the side - hot sauce, plum sauce, bean sprouts, lime, mint, peppers - just slide all that stuff in (except just the juice on the lime), mix it around and then use chopsticks for the noodles and the spoon for the broth. Or, you can use the chopsticks to make a little pile of noodles in the spoon (similar to using a fork and spoon when eating spaghetti).
- Cassandra
It's soup, but it has large pieces of meat in it as well as extremely long noodles. You can't pick up the noodles with a spoon; they usually just fall off. I've tried picking them up with chopsticks and put them in the spoon, but they're so long, I end up with my arms way above my head, with dangling noodles ready to fall and drip over everything. Seems like there has to be a better way.
- Mistletoe Glen
When I eat it, I usually double fist. Spoon in one hand, chopsticks in the other. I work on the noodles first, and then once I've made a dent in them, I usually just switch back and forth.
- cecily
@Glen - maybe try picking up the noddles partially with chopsticks, then plunking what you've got in the spoon right away. Then wind up the noodles, so you don't have to reach way overhead.
- Andrew C
Thanks for the suggestions. I have a feeling I'll need to go back several times this week. For purely educational purposes, you understand.

Beautiful! Fantastic costume! Did your wife, Johnny, make the costume? (For a moment I confused you with Josh) Sorry! ;) Is she going to be in a ballet?

We got it at our local department store. We had out annual Xmas carols on the weekend and this is what she wore
- Johnny Worthington
That is so great about the Christmas carols! And you have some department store: haven't seen anything as nice for little girls here. :)
- Melanie Reed
She is so adorable... I'm back in my `I want a daughter, I must be a father` thoughts... :)

Always in my"'want to be mother" thoughts. This is just an encouragement. ;)

"How do Jewish VCs — or anyone who’s Jewish for that matter — get through the Christmas season when even those of us who celebrate Christmas may already be getting a little tired of the songs? Continuing in the spirit of the season, here’s a piece from 2005 that was passed on by Foundry Group co-founder Brad Feld on the difference between Christmas and Chanukah (start by picking your spelling)."

One of our most popular posts this week was Grace's The Single Life: Finding the Motivation To Clean, opening a great deal of debate over what counts as dirty or unkempt in a person's home. But let's end the week on a more lighthearted note where discarded unfolded clothing have the possibility of being formed into artwork…where piles of clothing may just be an untapped source of creativity (let's just hope they're all clean).

"In the name of science and awesome, researchers from the University of Osaka in Japan created this Mario in a petri dish. How? By genetically engineering bacteria to express fluorescent proteins and carotenoid pigments. The result? Mario from Super Mario Bros. *applause*"

Yeah it does! At the office xmas party tonight I talked with a San Antonio police officer who told a harrowing story of someone firing at him with an automatic uzi, and a UTSA researcher who specializes in brain research.

Funkin-A man, I'm so happy for you! Go Haggis!

Okay, my coworkers don't have credentials like that. But they're a helluvalot of fun.
- Jandy, ConcertMaven of FF
It was the spouses of my coworkers, but I had plenty of good conversation with the people I actually work with. It was nice to get out of the office and just shoot the shit for a while.
