You don't have to be rich to be my man / You don't have to be cool to rule my world / Ain't no particular sign I'm more compatible with / I just want your extra time and your kiss.
SUN VALLEY, Idaho, July 8 - Google Inc <GOOG.O> is declaring war on Microsoft Corp <MSFT.O> by seeking to unseat the software giant's globally dominant Windows operating system for personal computers. Google, which already offers a suite of e-mail, Web and other software products that compete with Microsoft, said on Tuesday it would launch a new operating system for computers ranging from ultra-compact netbooks to full-size desktop PCs. Called the Google Chrome Operating System, the new software will be in netbooks for consumers in the second half of 2010, Google said in a blog post, adding that it was working with multiple manufacturers.

"On July 2nd the Toronto Zoo weclomed two snow leopard cubs. Critically endangered in the wild, snow leopards may some day depend on the genetic diversity preserved at zoos and aquariums for their species' survival. In the meantime, organizations like the Toronto Zoo and the Snow Leopard Trust offer fair trade products made by people living in snow leopard habitat to increase household income to deter poaching and raise awareness of the leopards' plight."

"In the past, the medical profession has tried unusual ways of trying to cure - or at least relieve - the symptoms of patients. Here - as the Wellcome Collection in central London celebrates the weirdest remedies - one of its librarians, William Schupbach, and event curator, Alex Julyan, look back at the products that "quacks" tried to sell to the public.

As time passes I find that my eye turns more often to pictures that depict little moments in people's lives. Photographs that capture the tales of a life passing, dreams realised, and those that just got away. The family album is something we all treasure and is often cited as the item we'd grab if we were allowed to keep only one possession.

"Jana and Juno, the Auckland Zoo's resident otter couple, spent a year in courtship before they decided they liked one another. Asian small-clawed otters mate for life but are "notoriously fussy" about who that mate will be. Well a few weeks ago Jana gave birth to two fluffy male pups, weighing just 400-500 grams or just about a pound."

From the article: We're suckers for Malaysian coffee shops. We refer here to the genuine article, mind you, not to any of the cute-ified old style-themed shops that have popped up around Kuala Lumpur in the last few years. The latter may be squeaky clean and air-conditioned, and some serve a good cup of local brew, but they don't come with the layers of history and the retinue of characterful regulars that places like Penang's Toon Leong do.

10 week old Gillin, the orphan baby cougar rescued from the wilds of Oregon, is adjusting well to her new life at the Northeastern Wisconsin Zoo. Many zoo animals that are solitary in the wild benefit from having friends and hobbies in a captive situation. Gillin will be introduced to the NEW Zoo's adult cougar B.B. when she is a bit older.

Bear with me with the many ZooBorns posts... I just love cute babies ;-)
This baby Cape porcupine was born eight weeks ago at the Naples Zoo weighing just 1 lb, but since then the prickly critter has grown to seven times her birth weight! Like all porcupines, at birth the little girl's quills were soft like hair but began to harden almost immediately.
